Adler
Date Finished Reading: 8/25/19
Genre: Fiction
Review: This book is about a girl named Cam Jansen and her friend Eric. Cam and Eric were on their way to their school science fair when Cam saw a man leave a coin store. Once they got to the science fair to set their projects down and look at other projects, Cam looked out the window and saw a man running towards the woods with Cam’s project! They ran after the man and chased him into the woods. They later found out that coins went missing from the coin store too and Cam thinks the two stolen items were from the same thief. I enjoyed this mystery story, and was glad to know that justice was served in the end!
Age/Audience: This book is appropriate for students in grades 2-3. Each question is answered by his Grandma, who helps him see the fun in their routine.

By: Aisha Saeed
Date Finished Reading: 9/11/19
Genre: Fiction
Review: This book is about a little boy named Bilal who is excited to help his dad make his favorite food of all time — Daal. Daal is a slow-cooked lentil dish from South Asia. Bilal wanted to introduce his friends to Daal. As the day went on, the daal continued to simmer, and more kids joined Bilal and his family. However, as time passed, Bilal began to wonder if his friends will like it as much as he does. I really enjoyed this book because I am also South Asian and love Daal as well. I know how it feels to introduce your friends to aspects of your culture they are unaware of and the fear of judgement. In the end, Bilal's friends loved the Daal!
Age/Audience: This book is appropriate for students in grades Pre-K, K, and 1-2. This book would be interesting to kids who like Daal. This book would be a mirror for other South Asian kids who want to introduce their culture to their friends.
