I used to work at a preschool in the Douglas High School, and I remember that there was one student who did not know how to speak English, he only spoke Spanish. One of the things that he always talked about what his culture, things that he did with his family, parties, and traditions. He was very smart not only academically but also in real life situations.

I understand and know Spanish very well so in that part I am not concerned. I really like teaching children from this group because I understand them because we share cultures, so it makes me really happy. I am concerned that I might not be able to teach them English correctly, fast, and that they might now understand some of the work that I give them.

I love working with the members of this group. I remember that when the preschooler got to school on the first day, I thought to myself that it was going to be very hard for me to communicate with him or that he would not understand me, but I was wrong. As soon as the first day passed, they had the confidence in me to be able to talk to me and to ask for help when he needed it. It made me really happy, and it made me feel confident in wanting to teach.

Personally, I do not find anything difficult for me to approach them. I feel like since I understand their culture, it is easy for me to talk to them and to approach them.

Sadly, I have not had the opportunity to coexist with AI/AN, but I would really like to because I would like to know more about their culture and also see if they learn a little differently for future references.

Personally, I would really want to have diversity in my classroom because we can all learn from each other. The concerns that I have is that it might be more difficult for them to learn since their culture is very different. It also concerns me how much of their culture means to them and how that would affect them academically.

As mentioned in my very first post, I used to work at the preschool in Douglas High School and in my very first year there, there was a little African American girl. She was the sweetest little girl, and I loved her. One of the things that I remember was that she would always talk about her family and how they always did fun family gatherings on the weekends and that she would go to church every Sunday. Every day someone new would come pick her up and it would be her aunts, uncles, cousins, grandma, grandpa, mom, dad, siblings, etc. From that moment I knew that family was very important in their culture. I am Mormon and at my church there is an African American family, and they are really great people. They love having many people over at their house, going to church, and they are very loving as well.

Personally, I love working with members of this group. They are very open, smart, loving, helpful, and they are easy to work with from my experience. One of the only concerns I have is that I have heard that this group can be sometimes very harsh especially when it comes to the guardians and the family. I just would not want any problems.

As mentioned before, I love working with them because they are just simply very easy-going people. While working at the preschool, their family was very involved with this student's education and as well as with the community, so that also made it easier for me to love working with them.

I could relate to them and be able to connect with them because I also love having a big family, family gatherings, church, the community and many more things. I think that since I could connect with them it would be easier for me to approach them. I do not feel that I would not have any difficulty communicating to them.
