The Day of the Dead is a celebration from October 31st-November 2nd. It's a celebration in remembrance of people who have died. They celebrate by putting pictures and decorations of the people who have passed away. They bake bread of the dead and dress up. They wear masks, costumes, and colorful makeup. There are a lot of skeletons included in the Day of the Dead. The food they will eat is bread, tamales, and other foods the person that is being remembered likes.

Some of the traditional food for the Day of the Dead is Pozole. Pozole is a brothy, Mexican soup made with hominy and meat. Another traditional Day of the Dead food is Mexican hot chocolate. Mexican hot chocolate is really good! It has similar ingredient to normal hot chocolate but had cinnamon and chili powder in it. And finally Tamales. Tamales is a corn based mixture that is filled with all sorts of meats, beans, and cheese.

Dolores loved chili. It was one of her favorite foods! She would always make it and it tasted amazing. She never wrote down the recipe and always would wing it on how much ingredients to put in so we don't know the recipe today. She also loved her eggs. She would eat a fried egg almost every breakfast. She would make an egg with coffee for her breakfast.

Some of the traditional items in Day of the Dead are skulls. Skulls are a big part of Day of the Dead. They will set out skull and will even make them. The skulls they make will be out of sugar and they will decorate them with vegetable painting. These skulls are edible so people can eat them. Another thing they have is an alter. An alter in Day of the Dead are areas decked with lighted candles, special foods, and other things the person your remember liked.

Dolores loved playing Candy Land. Candy Land is a board game where you pic cards and move your character to try to and win by getting to the end. Dolores also loved cooking! She loved making all kinds of soups and chilies! She would love making different Mac and Cheese recipes and was always making the food for all the family event.

Her birthday was on March 9th! She loved getting coffee on her birthday. She would go to the coffee shop and get coffee and pastry's. She would sit there with her husband and enjoy her coffee. As she got older and her husband passed away. My family and I would go see her! We would sit down while she drank her coffee and we would talk about life.
