Our students made cakes with their families using standard and non-standard measuring cups. We noticed another area we use to measure in our daily life. The participation of our families in our event gave strength to our project. they were very happy. They brought the cakes they made to school the next day and shared them with their friends.

For this activity, i prepared my students at school with a mini discussion and presentation of the standard-measurement and the non standard-measurement in the procedure of making a cake and i sent to the parents all they need to understand the scope of this activity. Students made cakes with a member of their family, their mother, father or their grandmother. They were very excited because they made the cake with their hands and they made the measurements with a little help of their family. I hope your students feel so excited as my students for this activity.

Students and parents enjoyed the time spent in the family, preparing cakes.They used standard and non-standard measuring units for the recipes of sweet bagels and pancakes. With the special skills of great confectioners, Cata and Alex together with their mothers delighted us with their cakes. Good appetite!

We said that measuring is our job and we got to work. With the help of our parents, our children made cakes using non-standard measuring tools. And then we ate with pleasure. We did a great job.

We made traditional Slovene desert - Jabolčni zavitek (apple roll). Apples are from local farm, we went to buy other ingredients in shop. We measured with differents scales and learned new unit.

First we decided which cake to make with my student. Afterwards, he and his mother looked at the recipe of the cookie and prepared the ingredients according to the measurements in the recipe. With help, she finished the cookie. It turned out very delicious cookies.

After a short conversation with my students about the standard and non-standard units of measurement, I gave them instructions about making a cake (or cupcake, bisquits,etc.) with their families. After our lesson about standard and non-standard measurement units I gave my students homework to do pancakes with a little help from their parents. They were very excited about this becouse they like pancakes a lot. After this assignement they learned how to make a pancake and how to use different measurement units in their everyday life.

Cheesecake❤️❤️❤️ my student enjoyed while cooking cheesecake❤️ it was really delicious . She realized she could cook by herself. This activity also encouraged my student so this was the most fantastic step in this project.
