Dreamers protest have been aware of possible changes since the new president wanted to take away DACA. I chose this image because it symbolizes the empowerment of crowds on page 490 on which states, "Today, however crowds of 25,000 or more are common at rick concerts, and sporting events... given their large numbers, crowds have the power to bring about change". It gives a good understanding on how certain behaviors in this photo of DACA protesters are an example of fighting for justice with the power of crowds to get their message sent to hierchy.
https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/dreamers-protest-capitol-hill-daca-deadline-day/story?id=53539262

The quotes I chose gives a good perspective on what the hierarchy have control over in helping but also helping themselves for pursue economy than equality.
https://oll.libertyfund.org/quotes/615

Based on who do you live with, how you live, and why you live can really influence a person to see what they identify as and if they are proud of it. I chose religion as my topic because of how broad but so personal this topic can be in all cultures and how it can change. I also chose this song called "I Can Only Imagine" by J. Michael Finley as the symbolic interactionist perspective because it symbolizes finding personal identity through faith. It connects to the book as the book states on page 505, "As a result, many people shuttle from one identity to another, changing their lifestyles, relationship, and even religious in search of an exclusive true self", explaining how personal identity can shift at any time in order to "live a good life".
https://open.spotify.com/track/0c50SMudgHFnupnzYifuQJ?si=DHdQ8a7ZSv27PALUegaZVg

Media was not accessible back then but as of 2020, we rely on media more than ever. We now have the power to attend school, work, see the news, and create relationships online but back then, they had kinship groups around hometowns. I chose this meme as it represents where majority of our nation is at and because we evolved so much, technology has opened the doors to making everything convenient but can still be exhausting. According to page 502 states, "The face-to-face communication of the village was eventually replaces by the impersonal mass media: newspapers, radio, television, and the computer based social media thank link people throughout the world", which clarifies where we have evolved as a mass society.
https://my.cumbria.ac.uk/Student-Life/it-media/Social-Media-Guidance/Why-use-social-media/

There are many people who loose hope and do not see the light at the end of the tunnel when live goes upside down. I chose this drawing and idea of seeing progress fade as post-modernity because of the amount of change, depression rates, suicide rates, bipolar disorders, and poverty that is going on which causes mental illness, fear for the futures, self doubt, and lack of excitement for the future. On page 508, "Members of postmodern society are less confident about what the future holds", explaining the lack of confidence can create such an optimistic mindset for the future.
https://www.huffpost.com/entry/self-doubt_b_2960936

Millions have been dealt with poverty, but with health issues have created bigger issues to other countries who were in poverty. According to worldbanks.org, South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa have the highest hit of extreme poverty compared to other areas around the world that are facing recent pandemic and on page 509,
"... the poorest countries of the world poses greater challenges". We see how vulnerable the poorest countries can get a bigger hit than other areas but the global future is hard to see without having richer nations help. I chose this statistic website and this topic about other poverty hits around the world because it sheds a light on where poverty stands out the most but to keep in mind to continue our job to help whether it be in donations or staying home.
https://blogs.worldbank.org/opendata/impact-covid-19-coronavirus-global-poverty-why-sub-saharan-africa-might-be-region-hardest

The world is currently shifting and we are creating this new norm with COVID-19. I chose the Coronavirus as my contemporary topic because of how impacted this virus caused to the entire world and is the biggest change that has ever happened to every single person and with that, and I chose this video and article that gives a brief understanding on what to know about this contagious virus. This topic relates to the boo,k "Society: The Basics 14th edition", by John J. Macionis which he discusses disasters have unexpected change and coronavirus is an example of social change. It states on page 495, " ... the social damage is more serious when an event involves some toxic substance, as is common with technological disasters", which does explain what the people are feeling and doing but this virus is more of a natural disaster that is completely unpredictable for the future but caused much harm.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mc-njOPX-K4
https://www.doctorswithoutborders.org/covid19
