         <description><![CDATA[<div>Chapter 4: The Interview<br><br>Vocabulary words:<br>Sagamores-(n) a chief; a sachem.<br>Draught-(n) a British spelling of draft or beer.<br>Inquest-(n) a judicial inquiry to ascertain the facts relating to an incident.<br><br>Best Quote:<br>P. 72 "Thy acts are like mercy, but thy words interpret thee as a terror" - Hester<br><br>Summary: After Hester Prynne returned to the prison, she was in such a state of nervousness that her daughter had caught onto the mood and was crying and screaming. The jailer, Master Brackett, was so worried that he called in a physician. The physician told the jailer to leave them alone and started to talk to Hester. Hester is convinced that the physician is trying to poison them and soon reveals that he is, in fact, her husband. He keeps asking about the child's father and keeps saying that he only wishes to exact revenge on him. He also states how he was wrong with marrying Hester. At the end of the chapter, he makes Hester swear to secrecy about his identity</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Chapter 7 - The Governor's Hall<br>Summary:<br>Hester is going to deliver embroidered gloves to the governor. Hester was always cautious to go outside with her daughter because Hester has the scarlet letter and her daughter, pearl, is the daughter of her adultery. Despite Hester's best intents to not be noticed and ridiculed, two young boys see them and begin to make fun of them. Pearl, getting angry stands up for her mother and herself.
