I met her in 2021 on a teacher training project in Turkey. She's an English teacher in Hatay, in the South East of the country, near the border with Syria. After the programme finished, we kept in touch via Instagram. 

On the 6th of February, a devastasting earthquake struck southern Turkey. Siret's life changed overnight. Her school and neighbourhood were destroyed. She lost friends, neighbours, and students. 

Since that day, she has worked tirelessly as a volunteer. She has delivered tents to homeless families, taken food to street animals, and now, she is teaching her students again, in a tent. She said "life is beautiful, no matter what." In Hong Kong, we may have different kind of activities like celebrations, march protests, workshops, industry talks etc. 

A woman who was a six children’s mother. She also needed to work for earning much money to maintain our living expenses except she had much housework. She was very busy all the day but she never said anything. Now, her children growing up and they have their families. She is still busy on looking after her grandchildren.  This is my mother. In my heart, my mother is a respected woman in my life.

At that time, the emperor of China issued a decree requiring each family need a man to join the army for resist the invaders in the north. However, Mulan's father was old, weak and sick, and her brother was young, so Mulan disguised herself as a man, joined the army instead her father.Finally her army defeated the invaders and returned victoriously . 

The story of Hua Mulan is expressed in various literary and artistic forms such as movies, TV dramas, songs and dances, and dramas. In 1998, the Disney Company of the United States adapted the story of Mulan into a cartoon film. In 2020, it made a live version of Mulan, which was welcomed by the world.   

Mulan Poem was included in the middle school textbook.
