On December 26 2004, a powerful tsunami hit multiple countries. Indonesia and Thailand were probably the hardest hit because they were closer to the epicenter of the earthquake. In Indonesia, nobody noticed until it was to late because they had no prediction devices and they weren’t prepared.but Indonesia wasn’t the only one hit, 15 other countries were to, killing an estimated amount 300,000 people. While there were worse tsunamis, the one caused by the Indian Ocean in 2004 was pretty deadly, and is really recent. But. Remember, other countries were hit too. For example, in Sri Lanka 35,000 people were killed including 800 of them that were on a train. In conclusion, the 2004 tsunami was a very, very deadly tsunami, killing many in its path through different countries, a tragedy making many lose loved ones.

To begin with the San Francisco earthquake was one of the strongest earthquakes ever. It destroyed almost everyone’s homes, it killed at least 525 people with a 8.7 on the Richter scale. Around 300 people were injured. They had to rebuild almost everything even the statue of Abraham Lincoln which they had built just a few years before it happened. The earthquake later started a fire that destroyed the whole city of San Francisco. Many residents of San Francisco were left homeless after the earthquake and fire, many people lost their lives and loved ones.

To begin with hurricanes form by the warm ocean water and warm air that rises. The rain and wind can form tropical storms and when a hurricane is happening it moves in a spiral. Also when a hurricane move in a spiral it rotate around a central point where air pressure is very low. Whenever a hurricane starts at is the most damaged part the hurricane. Hurricanes happen if the warm moist air above the ocean’s surface rises.

This can also be a storm surge when suddenly the ocean water level and hit the ground like a big, and powerful wave that cause very big floods. Hurricanes can happen if the warm water was at least 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Hurricanes can also knock down so many trees in one area.

Thank you for reading about causes and effects of a hurricane, I hope you learn a lot about hurricanes.

Effects of an Earthquake

What happens when an earthquake occurs? When an earthquake happens, people can get injured, landslide can happen, and rocks can fall off mountains. The more buildings in the location of the earthquake, the more damage the earthquake would cause. P&S waves affect the different types of earthquake that will happen. P waves are squiggly while S waves are just the Tectonic plates moving. Aftershocks are mini earthquakes that happen after a big earthquake. After shocks can happen minutes, hours, days, weeks, or months after an earthquake. Earthquakes can cause gas tanks or lines to break or explode.earthquakes can cause power lines to collapse and fall on roads to cause crashes. Also if the power lines fall down it would cause the power to go out and all our appliances would stop working. Earthquakes don’t usually hurt people but big ones can hurt people. Earthquakes usually only cause damage during them, they can cause damage after them too. Earthquakes can make buildings fall on roads and cause crashes. Some water and food may not be accessible or safe to eat or drink after an earthquake. If an earthquake breaks a water way, the will cause a flood. A flood can damage many things like buildings, roads, and homes. This shows how earthquakes are always changing our planet.

Have you ever heard of an Ef scale before? Ef scales measure how bad tornados are. The worst tornadoes are Ef5. They can lift somebody over a 1,000 ft imagine if that happened to you. Ef4 and Ef5 are when the most deaths occur.

Let’s talk about Ef0 and Ef1. Ef0 has winds of 65-85 that’s as fast as a car. They’re both the most common tornadoes. Ef1 has winds of 86-110.

Ef2 doesn't do much damage. Its winds are 111-136 it can kill about 60 people which is still a lot of people.

Ef3 can dig up roots so it can basically lift a trees off the ground. The winds are 136-165. I can’t imagine how it would feel like if you were in the middle of it.

Ef4 has winds of 166- 200 I wonder why I am scared of heights when I should be afraid of tornadoes. Ef4 can pick up trains and destroy them. In other words it can kill hundreds of people.

I know I’ve already told you about Ef5. It has winds over 200 imagine that. It can kill over 700 people.

Now that I have told you about tornados you should get to your shelter as fast as you can.

there are many ways to protect yourself in a tornado. Like if you stay outside during a tornado even in a car you will get swept away. If you try to out drive it you will get swept away again. If you hide in ditch you might be safe but your best way to stay safe is stay inside and don’t go out to watch it happen because your car could block the rode for emergency response to get to other people who need help. Also make a list of things you will need like phone, flashlight, emergency kit, food, water, and keep away from glass you could get cut, bruised and concussed by falling debris. Also hide low and put your hands on your neck , crouch and put your head on the floor and keep that position if you can’t a ditch if you’re outside run to the nearest house and ask to get inside. Keep out of cars, planes and bikes of all kinds.this shows you how to keep you safe in a tornado.

It’s very hard o Survive Tsunamis. To begin with you have to be prepared and faster than 2 minutes. Try to go as you can from water. If you don’t then your chances of getting caught in the wave is higher. If the streets have traffic run, bike,or speed walk. If you don’t you are going to get swept away. People Should always carry an emergency kit if your in a high risk area. In that kit you need a pocket nife, flash light, meds, and more… If a tsunami hits run stop whatever your doing and run. This is importent because people should always be aware in an area with tsunamis. For example in Indonesia tsunamis hit there are lot’s of tsunamis hit there like the Boxing Day tsunami. If you’re in school And A tsunami hits know Every escape route. I used to Think tsunamis Weren’t that dangerous but now I think tsunami’s are very dangerous because they come in lots of waves. Always remember if you’re in a righ risk area. Tsunamis are dangers always know if you’re in a high risk area and know your emergency route and always carry an emergency kit/bag in a high risk area.

Have you ever thought “why do earthquakes happen and how they happen”?Well to begin with they are caused what the earth’s crust breaks up into pieces called tectonic plates and when they collide that strong energy causes earthquakes.

This is important because a lot of people can get hurt if they are walking while an earthquake is happening. Also you can get hurt if your in a building and the building is falling or about to fall.

A lot of people never know when an earthquake is coming so they just keep on doing whatever they want not knowing their in danger. Also a lot of people sometimes survive earthquakes if they are far away even just a tiny bit away you can survive.

Well if an earthquake happens where you live a lot of people might just scream but try to stay calm and maybe go in your house and try to hide somewhere safe for example, under your table, under your bed, or any other place that’s safe for you.

Also earthquakes don’t just hurt people and break houses they also break land because since earthquakes can happen on land they can destroy some parts like the grass which is important because some animals can’t survive without grass.

And when I say grass I also mean the road too.Well the road is really important because when cars drive on the road they can get in a accident.

Have you ever wondered when or where earthquakes happen? Well I’m here to tell you! The places where tectonic plates shift a lot is where a lot of earthquakes happen. Earthquakes happen a lot in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Japan, and Alaska. It’s hard to predict when earthquakes will happen, but scientists use a tool called a seismographs to help predict when an earthquake will happen. Most earthquakes do not cause a lot of damage only a few cause a lot of damage and distroction.

There are many different times in time, were tsunamis were made. For example, in 2004 multiple countries got hit by a deadly tsunami, killing about 300,000 people who were just enjoying a day at the beach. This horrific tsunami is recent and well recorded. Also, it was the biggest one in quite some time. Another important tsunami was in May 22 1960, powerfully hitting chile. This tsunami wasn’t as deadly as the 2004 one, but it still killed 2,000 people from chile, 122 Japanese people and 61 people in Hawaii.

While some tsunamis are deadly, others are just plain enormous. For example, in Lituya Bay Alaska, on July 9 1958 a wave peaked at 1,720 feet while it only killed 2 people. This is important because the tsunami of 2004 killed many more people but only peaked at a 110 foot wave. One of the more old tsunamis include the tsunami of June 15 1896 in Japan. It killed more than 27,000 people, which is pretty devastating. One of the oldest tsunamis though is the tsunami of August 1883. It was a deadly one as well, killing 36,000 people, also making the island of Krakatoa Indonesia lose most of its land.

I hope by now you know this, but in case you don’t, tsunamis can happen anytime, but not anywhere, as they happen in places near huge bodies of water, including both islands and continents. Hope you learned more about tsunamis!

If a tornado is in water it can make a rain storm .tornado Can destroy stuff in the air too not just the ground .tornados can destroy power lines so even if you’re house is fine your frozen food is not. And you will have to go to a store but the store is probably destroyed too. Tornados can lunch stuff into other things .tornados can destroy forests , cars and tees an ef5 tornado can basically destroy everything in its path.even after a tornado is gone there is still issues you’re house is broken you have no power stores are probably broken and you have no food and water you can’t just buy food and water. just because you survived doesn’t mean you are safe .

there are many scary things about hurricanes. This is one and where hurricanes form. For starters hurricanes can form only if it is 80° in the water and sky. For hurricanes to form it has to be May 15 through November 30. Hurricanes Can’t go far on land, but can go very far on water. Hurricanes can only form on an ocean. I’m beginning to wonder how does the National weather service know that hurricanes can only occur from May 15 through November 30. That was where and when hurricanes can form.

There are many steps on how to be safe in an

Earthquake. If you are out side during an earthquake.Stay far from tall structures. They may collapse like trees or buildings. This important because. It’s for your safety. And the trees or buildings could fall on you and that’s really really dangerous because. If it falls on you then you’ll get hurt and imagine if a tree fell on you or a whole building fell on you. Then you would not be able to breathe and it would be really scary and u would not be able to go to hospital cause a hospital is a tall structure and a building so don’t go next to tall structures. Because this might happen to you

So you need to be safe just in case it happens to you.

Have you ever been in an earthquake? Well if not this is all about safety for an earthquake. If you are in an earthquake then take cover under a table right away. But your should never be near an outside door or a window because it can fall on you. And crack walls and floors can still break plus Ceilings And buildings.

If you live in an area with earthquakes or you just wanna be safe, here is a list of things you need for an earthquake. Here is an earthquake kit. If you have time, that will be nice.

If you get a warning for an earthquake, then you should go outside without any buildings because it can fall.

People say that under a door frame is the best area to go when an earthquake happens and some MythBusters decided to try it for themselves and it’s really good. Basically the best area to go in an earthquake just go under the door Frame.

If you’re in the earthquake go under a door frame, Table, Chair, Or Outside. All of these are for safe.

These are the things to be safe in an earthquakes but most earthquakes happen In ring of fire so don’t worry too much.

The end

The effects of Hurricane Katrina were very bad. Hurricane Katrina was a category 5 hurricane with wind speeds up to 155-miles per hour.Back in 2005,the people of New Orleans we’re devastated when there homes got recked by Hurricane Katrina. And when the Hurricane settled the people of New Orleans swam to a football feld to live in since there homes were flooded. In other words the people of New Orleans used a kayak to get across into the unflooded football feld were it was safe to stay in for the hurricane. Imagine staying in a football field on days on end,if I were them I would hate every day Because the football field was closed and you couldn’t go on it so if you brought a football, you couldn’t even play with it.I’am beginning to wonder how long is hurricane Katrina and why do floods happen during a hurricane? In conclusion Hurricane Katrina was one if not the most strongest hurricanes in history

This is the differences of hurricanes. For starters The levels of hurricanes aren’t called levels they’re called categories. The different categories are based on the wind speed. In 1992 there was a hurricane that was category 5 that killed 23 people. The hurricane Katrina killed more than 2500 people.
