Takes place on Naigalowoko

After climate change humanity escaped to Mars temporarily in order to look for a new planet. That was 1 million years ago. Now humanity has discovered and populated a dozen galaxies and are using the earth as an energy source.

There are different galaxies each with different purposes, some of them have extraterrestrial life. Each galaxy has approximately 10 inhabitable planets.

Some of the planets are discriminated against. For example, Blih is the prison planet, basically all it is is a giant prison. However, it’s more the inhabitants of the planets that are discriminated against. For example, Blih used to be home to a long extinct alien race that was trapped on Blih because of discrimination and ended up dying out. Afterwards, they turned it into a giant prison.

The planet of Ross is where the government lives. There is still a recording from the time of earth that details a plan to take over all of the known universe and create a new, perfect, world, through a new big bang.

Naigalowoko is home to a lot of people of the gyan religion and is home to a sizable group of frocks.

People think that the Gyans believe that the world is just fine as it is and shouldn’t change or be recreated. This is sort of true. They used to believe in change but not in recreating the world, and that the world is a mix of beauty and cruelty. However, over time their ideologies have become warped leaning more towards them thinking everything is beautiful. Part of the story is Keil and the others reinhabiting the old ideology. Gyans thinking that the world is all good and perfect is a stereotype pushed by the government, but also kind of true. The government thinks that the world is all horrible.

Climate change still exists since humanity never learned their lesson though with advanced technology they can prevent it more easily.

There is teleportation, an advanced form of sort of internet, and very fast travel throughout the universe which allows the world to stay very connected.

Characters

Villain: His name is jared. He is the head of the government and has been for hundreds of years due to technology that allows humans to live for up to a thousand years. As a kid he was part of the Gyan religion, but then his parents died due to a catastrophe where they lived. The leader had a chance to save them but decided to not risk their own death because they thought that everything including themselves is beautiful and that Jared’s parents had a beautiful life and that made it ok. Later, instead of mourning for their death and feeling bad about not saving them, they talked about how Jared’s parents' lives were beautiful and they died knowing that the world was full of beauty, but that there would always be hate and they had to fight back. Jared got angry and ran away, he believes that believing everything is beautiful when it isn't makes them selfish and thinks that the solution is to make the world all beautiful. He’ll do this by creating a new big bang. This is also why he’s angry at the Gyans, he can't accept that they may have changed. He feels that they deserve it for not saving his parents from the Frock attack which is why he’s angry at the Frocks. He feels disconnected from the human beings behind it. He can’t accept that, that group of Frocks and that group of Gyans were bad, but not all Gyans and frocks are.

Main Protagonist: His name is Keil. He’s 12 years old, his parents died when he was eight. He has trauma due to watching his parents die. Because of this he has a short temper and sometimes has mental breakdowns. One of the only things that he feels can bring him peace is reading books. He often gets really angry only to proceed to break down and start crying. He does it less now than soon after his parent’s death but will probably do it in a tense moment of the story and it will be a big part of his character growth. A big part of the book is going to be his character growth and him accepting loss, but not forgetting his parents. At first, he’ll just be going off for revenge but as time goes on he’ll realize the danger this poses to the world and start doing it because it’s righteous. He also has a younger sibling, Gabriel, whom he tries to keep up appearances with when around and is a big part of the reason he’s made as much progress as he has. Part of the reason he’s had so much trouble dealing with trauma is because he has no older person to help him. He also wants to become more self reliant and often refuses help. Through the story he’ll realize that you have to self reliant, but that it’s okay and often an advantage to be able to ask for help every once in a while.

Main protagonist's sibling: His name is Gabriel. He doesn’t have much trauma from his parents dying since he doesn’t have much recollection of them as he was only four and a half when it happened. He didn’t see it happen either. Keil especially, but also the rest of the people in his group have been more of his parental figures. During the story when he is left behind “because of his safety” he feels belittled.

One of the main protagonists' best friends: Her name is Maya. She’s also twelve and was close friends with Keil before their parents died unlike their friends whom they knew, but only became close friends with after all of their parents died. Her younger brother who was about the same age as gabriel died during the attack, so she’s extra protective of gabriel and Crim. She’s sort of the mother figure of the group and though she keeps up appearances for the rest of the group, is also dealing with trauma and hasn’t been able to deal with it since she immediately had to become the leader and make sure they all survived.

One of the main Protagonist’s other best friends: His name is Crim. He is the only person of the group who isn’t Gyan, they met him early on, he’d been an orphan since early on, he’d been in an orphanage center until he escaped due to horrible conditions when he was 7. He’s now 12. Without him, they may not have been able to survive in the beginning. He ‘s kind of the joker of the group but is actually pretty wise on the inside. Because at the orphanage he was bullied a lot, he still sometimes has trouble being himself. He’s been forced to fend for himself since he was young and recently for his friends. Even still he’s the most reluctant about making big changes since he feels that this isn’t his fight.

Other person of the group: Her name is Angela. She’s 13 and often brags about being the oldest even though they’re all within the same year. She was really close with her identical twin sister and still feels her loss today. While everybody else is feeling emotional loss she also feels actual physical loss. She tries to joke around and act like everything’s okay in order to escape trauma and make people think she’s okay but in reality she also has just as much trauma inside as the rest of them. She’s also the cook for the group and is one of Maya’s best friends.

The attack: During the attack, they were in school which is why they’re all around the same age, everyone tried to escape, but they were the only ones to make it. Keil tried going back for his parents but only managed to get Gabriel out before Maya pulled him back out before he died. Seconds afterwards the ceiling collapsed on Keils parents. His mothers last words were for him to take care of Gabriel. In the classroom, they happened to be the first ones to get out through the escape tunnel after which the school collapsed and everybody else died. Angela was the last to get out and saw the tunnel collapse on her twin right before they got out.

Other person of the group: His name is Cody. he’s the most “orthodox”, Gyan of the group and thus has an easier time dealing with all of the death, in part because of his prayers and in part because of his beliefs that His family’s lives were beautiful and that they should respect their lives instead of mourn and be angry about their deaths. He’s also the “smart aleck” of the group. During the story he will realize that though their lives were beautiful not everything is beautiful and that the world has a lot more ugly than the Gyan religion would like you to believe.

Toplyn(Lynn for short; it’s a Frock name): Her home was attacked by the government forces because of them using their abilities which was against the laws, this of course is pretty much all propaganda. She was the only survivor and they’re hunting her down. Though it’s not why they attacked, shortly before the attack she had used her ability once and thinks that that’s why they attacked. Because of this, she is dealing with not only grief, but also immense guilt. It doesn’t help that nobody else trusts her.

Scene

As Keil ran away from the fire, he thought of all the kids who would grow up parentless because of it, he thought about what had happened to him, how in a single day, no, in a single hour. His whole life had been turned upside down. He thought of how his life might not be worth living, knowing how many lives he could have saved. He started running back, all life wasn’t beautiful, he might even go as far to say that most life isn’t beautiful, but all life. Is worth living.

He ran faster than he ever had before, Maya, even Angela shouted at him to stop. But he didn’t care. He ran faster even than the last time, when he had been too late. He saw a little boy, no older than Gabriel, crying, shouting for his parents. He saw a mother crying for her dead son. That wasn’t going to happen to anybody else. NEVER AGAIN. He ran into the closest building. Nobody was in there, his lungs were burning from exertion, he was coughing from the ashes, but he didn’t care. He barely noticed.

He was filled with an emotion that was all too familiar, rage, but he finally understood what his friends always said, that raw rage isn’t useful. When you use rage however, that’s when it becomes useful.

He ran into the next house, saw a little kid who couldn’t have been older than 6 crying, shouting for their mother. He scanned the house and quickly spotted the mother, inside a circle of fire, coughing wheezing, reassuring her child from inside the fire between wheezes, pale as the clouds, an unfitting comparison for the situation.

Without a second thought he ran through the fire, felt pain all over his body, unbearable heat, he ran through, breathing through the top of his shirt. He grabbed the mothers hand and practically dragged her through the fire. He didn’t leave her time to thank him, he ran straight to the next house.

He ran inside and balked, seemingly unable to move, he had a flashback, running towards his house, spotting his mother on the ground, with a support of the house weighing down on her leg, him rushing towards her desperately trying to free her all the while she urged him to escape, Maya grabbing his arm, Maya pulling him back an instant before the house collapsed on his mother, wetness on his cheeks. He felt that wetness again today, for all of the other kids who would be living in the streets, for all of the other kids whose lives would change in minutes. He ran forwards.

The Woman was stuck under a support of the house, the house was shaking, she told him to escape. He didn’t notice. He was pushing the support off her. He was angry. At the soldiers for destroying a whole town in order to catch one, innocent, frock, at the government for causing them to attack, at the world, for believing that the world was broken and that people like his mother didn’t matter.

But his mother did matter, this lady did matter, she had a life, memories, experiences, hopes, dreams, loved ones. Just like his mother had, just like Angela’s twin sister and Maya’s little brother. The ashes were clouding his vision, he felt, not saw, the support, inch by glorious inch, he rolled it off. Inch by frustratingly slow inch, he was saving a life, the house started collapsing, he heard the first support fall. “No”, he screamed, he pushed harder faster, used all of the force he had left, the woman was screaming at him to run.

The log had gone from the crook of her knee to the edge of her calf, her heel was blocking it. He got under the log and pushed up, then, with a force he didn’t know he had, he gripped the big, ugly, horrible, piece of wood and threw it with a resounding cry. The next support fell, the house was shaking beyond control. He grabbed the woman’s hand and pulled, her useless leg dragging along.

The back of the house started falling. But he continued, pulling. Pull, by frustratingly weak pull, he brought her to safety. A piece of cement fell from the ceiling, inches away from crushing his skull, then, just as the house was about to collapse, he made it out. He was weak, hundreds had died, dozens of children without parents, the town was destroyed. Despite the death, despite the destruction, Keil felt perhaps unfittingly, on top of the world.

He had, saved, a life.

Frock and Gyan relationship

Due to propaganda starting in the government and continuing into their leaders, they’re still enemies. However, they first became enemies because Gyans were forced onto the Frocks home planet, Naigalawoko, by the government. This was the start of immigration to Naigalowoko as a safe haven which though not true anymore, destroyed much of the Frocks natural habitat and nearly rendered them extinct. The government first started because they realized they would become powerful allies, now Jared does it in order to separate them as they are his two biggest oppositions in creating a new world. There are often attacks between the two groups.

Frock abilities/ history

The Frocks have a unique ability to both sense what emotions a being is feeling and have an influence on it ranging from insignificant to a form of mind control depending on the frock, and the being. They do this by creating sound vibrations through the air as well as just vibrations that though undetectable by humans can change their mood unconsciously. They can use these vibrations sort of like echolocation to feel the emotions they’re feeling as well. They originate from the planet naigalowoko and gained these abilities first as a form of basic communication and self defense. However, later, once they became an “intelligent species”, most of them started using their abilities in order to create peace. However, some started using these abilities to influence intelligent beings. Though most of these were disposed or just disappeared there are still a few left and technically every Frock has this ability causing people to be very wary of them, for it to be against the law, (it’s only actually against the law since Jared doesn’t want their abilities to be used to make the world a better place and the government caused a lot of the mistrust of them long ago) and for them to execute an frock who does it. They live for about the same amount of time as a natural human lifespan. However, habitat destruction and pollution affect them more strongly causing them to realistically have a ten year shorter life span. Thei natural habitat is an acid rain forest. It is believed that the acid may have had an effect similar to radiation on humans which is why they have these abilities and are immune to acid.

Gyan history

Nobody really knows when the Gyans started or who started it. There are myths that the precursors to the gyans were one of the most strongly advocating groups for remaining on earth due to its natural beauty which is believed by the myth to be the precursor to Gyan ideology. Part of how the government persecuted the Gyans was by causing the earth to be destroyed, telling everybody it was a random occurrence, and then saying that if humanity had listened to the Gyans we’d have perished the instant the earth got destroyed. Over time they warped that story to be that people knew the earth would be destroyed, but that Gyans wanted to stay and die.

prologue

Everywhere he turned, there was fire. He smelled burning flesh. He hoped it wasn’t his own. All around him the fire was closing in. He saw everybody he knew and loved dying, getting consumed by the flame. Before they died he saw each of their faces begging him to help, telling him that it was all his fault. Their faces, not filled with happiness at having lived, but a terror at the prospect of dying. He saw Maya’s little brother coughing and weezing; he tried to run towards him but at the last second he was too late, too slow. Every person he tried to save was consumed right before he got to them. They were right. It was all his fault. Then, just as the fire was closing in on him. As he was prepared to die, a corridor opened up. Fire on every side. And at the end, his mother. Trapped under the support of their fallen house. He ran, he coughed and wheezed, doubled over and threw up, but despite it all he ran , he was burning, his flesh, his life being burned away, but despite it all he ran. Then, he tripped. But he got back up and ran. The fire was closing in on him. He saw his mothers face, alight with happiness at seeing him, but fearful with terror of the beyond. He heard her voice. It was telling him to save her. Then just as he was about to touch her face, feel her skin, the fire closed in and again he was there, waiting to die, just like before. If he hadn’t tripped he could’ve saved her. They were right, it was all his, fault. He saw his mother’s face before she died not one of happiness at seeing her son again, but of sadness and terror. Life wasn’t beautiful, it was a means to an end. Then, before it all went black, he had one last thought. Then why did it, even, matter. Why did all those peoples lives even matter? He woke up drenched in cold sweat, his heart beating a million miles an hour. It was just a dream, it was all just a dream he told himself. And yet even as he tried to go back to sleep, the sinkhole in his stomach, ready to leap out and gobble him and all of the hope for a better world he had left; never. Went. Away.

Story

Shows his current life, the characters, and exposes the backstory of his life. Also gives some information on the history of the earth/world. Gives some references to important characters. Shows the character’s relationships with each other and their emotions.

A frock comes and Keil and the others think that he’s gonna do something bad so they chase him and end up catching him. He tells them that he wasn’t going to do anything wrong and that his home had just been attacked and destroyed, that he was the only escapee he knew of and that he’d been on the run ever since.

The others, but especially Keil don’t believe him; Crim is the only one who’s willing to trust him since Keil, Angela, and Maya had been having the hardest time recovering after their home got destroyed and Cody had been taught to distrust Frocks. Toplyn asks them to help her run away and fight back. They agree to help house her for the time being but not to fight back. That night there’s a big confrontation between Lynn and the rest where Keil, Maya, Angela, and cody get angry at Lynn. She says that she’s sorry, but that she wasn’t the group of Frocks who attacked them just like they weren’t the group of humans who were looking for her. Keil, Angela, and Maya start to change their thoughts on the topis though they’re still suspicious. Cody is the most reluctant though even he starts doubting what the Gyans said about Frocks.

The next night they see the soldiers looking for Lynn and run away. They learn that the soldiers ended up deciding to destroy the town (where the scene takes place). Afterwards, Keil decides to fight back and though his friends don’t feel as strongly about it they agree to help. The only one who is very against it is Crim since he doesn’t want conflict and feels that this isn’t his fight. This causes tensions between him and Keil. They end up deciding to leave Gabriel in the village to help and stay safe.

They end up catching a guard and question him, it turns out that some of the other frocks survived and were put in prison on Blih which gives Lynn hope. They also find out that he and many of the other guards suspect that all of these attacks aren’t really because of the frocks using their abilities and instead in order to press down anyone who might be enemies of the government and says that there’s something fishy going on. The group thinks about killing the guard in order to prevent the information from getting out, but Keil realizes that he has people who care about him, and a life to live. They decide to bring him back to the village and give him to the survivors as a sort of prisoner to help them rebuild. All they asked was for them not to be too cruel and to free him at some point.

Afterwards they talk about what to do moving forwards. Lynn wants to go to Blih to save the Frocks. The rest of the group agrees, but are considering doing something directly against the government instead. They decide to go to Naigolowoko in order to find out more about the whole situation and to get blueprints of Blih. After some struggles they arrive and devise a plan for two of them to practice becoming a soldier and sneak into the control room in order to find stuff out.

They end up deciding on Angela and Keil. They have some close calls, but end up getting to the control room and finding the blueprints to Blih. Keil also finds some files about the attack on his home and about Jared’s plan to recreate the world. They get out in the nick of time though Jared himself tries to stop them. When Keil confronts him about the plan and the attacks, Jared tells him that Keil just doesn’t understand.

Angela and Keil get back and tell the rest of the group about everything though they hide some of the other information they found. They make their way towards Blih and find out that the easiest moment to free the Frocks is by sneaking in during the inbetween in the guards shifts while the Frocks are still in the rehabilitation room. They end up freeing them though Keil sees one of the Gyans from his hometown and decides to come back soon, he doesn’t tell the others because he’s really confused and is starting to piece everything together.

After freeing the frocks they see that Lynn’s Mother is the only one of her family left though there are also a few dozen more. They decide to go rebuild their town, but Lynn decides to see all of this through to the end stating that “they helped her, now she’ll help them”.

Afterwards, Maya confronts Keil about his acting strange (because of the information he found) and after a little bit he says that he doesn’t know what it means and that he’ll tell them all later. She accepts it, but tells him that they can help him and that he’s not alone. Later he tells them all everything and though originally shocked, they can’t piece out much more than he can and it sets a somber mood over the group. They decide that they need to find out more first and that they need to investigate the prisoners at Blih.

Keil decides to sneak into Blih to talk to the person he saw about everything (he does tell the others). He ends up pretending to be a guard thinking that it worked well enough last time. Once he gets in, he talks to the Gyan he saw and they’re surprised to see him. He tells him about how afterwards, they gathered up the survivors and brought them here, preventing them from praying. Though all of Keils family died, he’s not the only one and apparently they’d been working on an escape plan. Keil trusts them to figure it out on their own and also tells him about how Frocks aren’t as bad as they think. He has to leave shortly afterwards.

He tells the rest of the group about what happened. They don’t know what to do yet, but decide that they have to do something. They aren’t sure if they trust Frocks as a whole yet. But for the most part trust Lynn. The only one who’s still wary is Cody. There are still tensions between Crim and Keil because Crim still feels that he has nothing worth fighting for. Keil starts to wonder if all he can really do now is move on. They head back to the village and try to help rebuild while working on a new plan.

HISTORY

Long ago in the year of 2550 the great submergence began. The water rose and left earth underwater forever. The humans mutated and became a part of four colonies; the Anphys, the Webs, the Fins, and the Tentaclause. There are theories about how the humans evolved. The most important one states that the people who lived in the Americas became the Anphys, the Europeans and Asians became the Webs, Africans became the Fins, and the Tentaclause were from Australia, New Zealand and all the Pacific islands. The war started in 3000 because the Death Grippers under the leader “The Watcher” wanted complete control over the Aquarium mines, which is the fundamental metal for all their weapons. Every colony has their own mine of aquarium and they want more.

The history of the four colonies is what is followed. Fins, the first Queen of the Fins was named Allemia and all of her grandchildren to prince salaman whose father is has been just recently killed in the front lines. Anphy’s, their first queen was named Aukulet and all of her eldest granddaughters all the way until Queen Tasmar. He has a rare feature about his eyes which are the color of the aqua blue ocean and burgundy blood some say that they give him heat vision and one can tell by seeing his pupils become slits.

Tentela Tentaclause

Tentela is 17 years old and grew up on a farm with 6 siblings in a harsh family who spoiled all 5 of her siblings but made her do everything. She ran away at age 9 in order to choose her own future and become a professor in geology as it was her passion. All of her work on the family farm taught her to always work alone but when she meets her friends it all changes. She also realized that when rocks are around her she feel energy which gives her a quickening sixth sense.

Erella Anphy

Erella is 16 years old and grew up in a rich family which the war took away from her lush lifestyle as well as her biggest treasure, her parents in a raid. Some who know him get an eerie feeling down their backs on sight. He also fells lonely most of the time and is grateful when he stumbled unpawn The Water and decided to trust him.

The Watcher Anphy

He is the leader of the Death Grippers and has a thirst for blood and vengeance. There are many theories that his brother, Sorrow, will teach the United and help them stop the war. The reason why he hates everyone is unknown but there are some theories that he wants full power over everyone in aquaria. Some say he can quite his surroundings with a thought.

Sorro Anphy

Sorro is The Watcher’s hated brother who has the complete opposite intentions that his brother has and supports the Prophecy. He teaches the United (Prophecy children) that they need to count on each other and make sure they learn from his mistakes of ever trusting The Watcher. Sorrow has also been wounded internally by the war for it took away his wife and daughter in a raid. Sorro has a deep connection with the water and can bend it at need.

SCENE

THUD, it was happening at last. The village was being attacked. “Get the children out of here!'' The booming voice of my father was unexpected. I wanted to fight. I wanted to help the village, “but I need to help Misty!” a voice inside of me knocked and then exclaimed “and mom!” “Nereus, I’m scared, '' said the little voice of my sister. “It’s ok Misty, dear, you and Nereus are going to have to leave this place,” the faint voice of mother said in a soothing whisper. She looked at me and nodded, and pushed me forward “Go” she said, “leave and don’t look back.” I looked back, the very second, I regretted it, blood was levitating in the water, sharks were scouting our borders to let us through, just for a moment we saw everyone; my friends, my village, and my family, disappear with the rough dermal denticles. I tried to force them out of the way but their blunt scales blocked the way.

I woke up with a jolt and gazed around at our liquid surroundings. Aquatic trees were swaying around in the current. “Just a dream,” I realized in relief, “just a dream.” I grumbled and lifted my numb body up and checked on my sister. Asleep. “Good,” I thought, she wouldn’t want to see me bring back breakfast. I picked up my spear and started off into the dense forest. CRACK I glanced back, “you know it takes more than one person to kill me,” I turned around and shot my spear into a tree. Nothing, I heard water swishing behind me. It was an Anphy who exclaimed, “You will leave the lands of Anphimia NOW!”

FOOD FOR BRAIN By Luke Manning

Since our president was elected, food has become a test. A test of smarts, personality, and skill. Every day, our nurturers have to travel to the Test House. The tests are our food recourse now. The Test House is located in the middle of the Capitol where the president and the rich live. Our nurturers day-to-day take a test called the Food For Brain. Food For Brain(FFB) is a test that you take to possess food. Then, once the nurtures have taken the test, you will be given a limited amount of food on how high your score is. My nurtures, for example, haven't been doing the greatest job on getting satisfactory scores. Since my caretakers haven't been getting up to the mark scores, I have been getting limited food.

Hi, my name is Phoebe. I am 16 years old and I live in a sketchy, torn down, behind-the-scenes, small neighborhood in Quincy, Massachusetts. Do you know those few kids at school that are always really lonely and sad? I'm one of them. Ever since president Abbadon took over the office and created Food For Brain, my life has been a terrible disaster. I haven't been able to concentrate in school and I'm sure to end up like my parents if I don't do something soon.

(Fast Forward 3 months)

My stomach growls and kicks every time I take a step, as if my stomach were to eat me whole. If food wasn't taken away I would be full of food. I step toward my mother, as a question that I mourned to ask anyone, but too scared to say slips out of my mouth and into the dry, hot air.

“Mother?” I asked gently “Where did all the food go when Abbadon was elected? Did it all just disappear?”

Surprised that I had asked that question, Mother took a second to answer, then slowly came close to my ear and whispered.

“There was a rumor once, that while we were sleeping the night President Abbadon took over the office, he confiscated all the food in America and brought it over to an island somewhere in the middle of the Pacific, where only he can reach it.”

“And why would he do that?” I said desperately

“Noone knows. But I think it's something to do with selfishness and money.” My mother said quietly.

I turned around and walked away slowly thinking if the rumor could be true. And what if it was true, what would I do? I couldn't possibly reach that island, or maybe I could.

Can't Ban Books? Ban Libraries. Dean's dystopian story

As Jack looked out of the window, he saw what he had hoped never to see in his small rural town. They had been found out.

He never thought that the day would come when the government would find out about the small town library, which was not one of the final few libraries documented in the United States, for good reason too, he thought. It was small, and it had only a few hundred books, but it was well hidden.

The government had issued a request for every library to be closed except for the Library of Congress, because they wanted to control what was done with libraries. One way of doing this was to defund libraries by making it so counties and cities that donated to the libraries were unable to give money to help fund. This would make sure that the only way for libraries to get funds is by asking the government. Obviously the government wouldn’t give any money to libraries except for the library of congress, so that takes out all the ways to fund libraries except individuals giving their money to support. Sounds sort of okay, right? No, it’s not anymore because that has become illegal. Now the libraries that are left are the Library of Congress, Jack's town library, and four other libraries that are known about and being attacked financially and possibly physically. There are the final few libraries in the States, and since the library in Jack’s town wasn’t listed, he didn’t think that anyone would find out about it.

Jack was a regular visitor to the library, maybe because it was right underneath his apartment, or maybe because he aimed to read and memorize the facts of every book in the library before, inevitably, the government finds the hidden sanctuary for books and takes it and all of the books away.

There were three armored cars outside his apartment building and the occupants looked surprisingly the opposite of their cars. There were three older men standing outside the government cars and they were rather skinny and seemed not to be a good match with the bullet proof glass, three-inch-thick metal door wielding FBI vehicles. Jack, being a tall and burly kid for just thirteen, thought if needed, he could hold back at least one of the men if they posed the threat of closing the library.

The men walked towards Jack’s building and knocked on the door. Jack raced downstairs to the lobby and stood in front of the receptionist’s desk. The receptionist was his friend and had known him since he was born. She was old, due to turn seventy-three that year, but you wouldn’t know it. She had more energy than some middle aged people, and was completely capable of keeping the library safe. Her name was Oliva, and she was the one who had introduced Jack to the library. He burst out with gibberish, “The FBI! Here! Now!! The library!”

Olivia responded quietly, “I will talk to them. Don’t worry, they won’t find the passage.”

She seemed calm, but Jack wasn’t fooled. She had been worried about this for months, ever since the Library Act of 2047 had been passed by the President, even though there had been lots of controversy around this topic, because a lot of people thought that the new iPhone 37 or the Samsung Universe S2 (they had just finished with the Galaxy series) was just fine for reading things on, because it had a few terabytes to store digital reprints of books, but many other people wanted to read REAL books, as they called it. Jack did both these things and he liked both for different reasons.

As the agents ceased their conversation, they walked towards the apartment building. Jack thought furiously about how to possibly stop the FBI from finding any trace of the library, and even though there was nearly no chance that they would find the room by themselves. This was partly because Jack thought that the old men were incapable of doing anything that would endanger the library, but also because Jack was going to make sure they go nowhere near the rooms close to the secret room that hid the library.

“Hello! This is sure a surprise,” Jack heard Olivia say to the agents as they entered the apartment building.

“It shouldn’t be,” one of the agents said matter-of-factly, “You know full well why we're here today.”

Jack quietly opened the door to the staircase before he was noticed and ran upstairs to find help. His friend Noah would be a sure help against the men, as he loved the library because it helped him research technology that he could use for useful things.

“Noah!” Jack pounded on his friend’s apartment door. “Open up! It’s important!”

There was movement in the rooms behind the door, but no one opened it. Finally, someone came to the door. As it opened, Jack hoped that he hadn’t woken up one of Noah’s parents, but was relieved when he saw Noah’s short, skinny frame silhouetted in the light from behind the hastily thrown open curtain. Jack looked at Noah's face as Noah groggily asked, “Whud izzit? I was sleebing!”

Jack answered fast but quietly, in case Noah’s parents or the agents might hear him. “First of all, it’s nearly noon, you don’t need to be asleep…”

“I stayed up till four trying to figure out how to control a commandeered car from a distance!” said Noah. He had recently perfected a piece of equipment that allowed him to take control of a car and turn on its self driving, so he could drive a car somewhere if needed. His explanation was that if the person driving the car wasn't capable of driving anymore, he’d be able to get people to safety. However, Jack saw potential for this in his recent crisis.

“You still got the average eight hours of sleep, it’s fine, but that’s not why I came here. The government is trying to get to our library, and I need your help!”

Noah was woken up fully by this, and nearly fell over. “I haven’t made anything to stop this!”

“No, you haven’t made anything specifically for this situation, but you’ve made things otherwise. Did you figure out how to control the car from a distance?”

Noah’s face lit up, and realized what Jack was implying. “Are you saying that we’re going to comandeer their cars?”

Jack grinned, and began to ask Noah about what could give them some time to apply the devices to the FBI vehicles. Noah had recently made a water gun that was supposed to make hot chocolate and squirt it into someone’s mouth, but it went wrong, as Noah had not thought about how hot the hot chocolate would end up being after preparation. It was not comfortable to drink the blisteringly hot drink, and Noah could not figure out a way to cool it, so he stopped work on the squirt gun. However, now there was a good use for it, and they began to load it with hot chocolate powder as they heard a voice from downstairs, an agent’s. “You have no authority to interfere with our search here. We have a warrant, and reason to believe you are hiding a library full of books, which is against the new Libr-”

“I know about that stupid Library Act, but there’s no library here!” The boys heard Olivia raise her voice and knew it was time to go. They ran down the stairs and hoped to look like normal kids who were going outside for a water fight, and it almost worked. Then one agent grabbed Jack’s shirt collar, and yelled into his face, in an attempt to prove his idea about a library, “Where is it?! Where’s the library?!?”

Jack was taken off guard, but still was able to say, “What library? I thought that they were all illegal except the Library of Congress.”

The agent let him go, still not completely convinced, and muttered something about “Stupid kids…” under his breath. Noah and Jack ran through the doors, and began to apply the devices to the SUVs. However, there was a slight problem they hadn’t thought of. There was a bodyguard. He first saw the kids run across the street with a squirt gun, and thought nothing of it, but then he saw the boys quietly conversing behind one of the SUVs in his mirror, and decided that something was up. However, he never knew what was coming. He stepped out of the vehicle and yelled, “What do you kids think you’re doing!?”

He was promptly hit in the face with a jet of hot chocolate that truly felt like the meaning of hot, screamed, and ran straight into a tree. He was knocked cold, and Jack ran over to him and slowly dragged him off of the street so he wouldn’t get run over accidentally. Jack ran back over to check on Noah’s progress and found him at the farthest car. Jack was surprised at how little time it had taken to set up the other devices, but wasn’t surprised, as he had spent a good ten minutes dragging the bodyguard off of the road. As Noah finished setting up the devices, he took his phone out and started the program connected to the car controllers. The SUVs began to rev up and their headlights turned on. As Noah programmed each of the machines, Jack got more and more excited, until Noah finally started the programs and the self drive started up. They sat there a while and then took off down the road, and Jack and Noah looked at each other, grinning. Noah got up and ran into the apartment building, yelling, “Mr. Agent, sir, your cars just drove away! I think they were stolen!”

The agents all looked outside, and saw no SUVs, and yelled at the top of their lungs, “Where did they GO?!”

Olivia stayed calm, and told them they could borrow a car from the apartment, but could they please return it. The agents agreed, and hastily ran outside to drive off in search of their cars. Noah asked Olivia if they had found any trace of the secret room, and she responded with, “The only thing they’re looking for now is their cars!”

Everyone laughed, but they all knew this wasn’t the end of this dispute.

The Problem With Mills by Averill Yi

Setting:

St. Louis is a city in the state of Missouri. After the terrible and tragic Bombing of 2098, many puppy mills were destroyed leaving dogs to run wild. These dogs started reproducing which led to tens of thousands of dogs wandering on the streets. St. Louis is a war torn city, much like every other city in the U.S. The only difference in St. Louis is that there are more dogs in the city than humans.

Millie:

Millie is the hero of the story. She works to save the stray dogs in the city of St. Louis. Millie has brown hair and blue eyes. She was adopted as an infant. Her parents were killed in The Bombing of 2098. Millie is now 13 years old and she works to save the thousands of dogs on the street being killed by governor’s orders. Millie houses many dogs and finds people, through her secret website, that are interested in helping a stray dog become a family dog.

Millie’s mother:

Millie’s mother is the motherly figure to Millie. She supports Millie but thinks she has “issues” because of the bombing that killed her birth parents. Millie’s mom spends the most time around Millie since Millie’s father is away at war for 18 months. Millie’s mother helps Millie build dog crates for the many dogs being brought into their home.

Roscoe:

Roscoe is the mentor figure and sidekick in this story. He is a dog Millie befriended at the bus station. Roscoe secretly lives with Millie. Roscoe makes Millie want to save other dogs and let them have relationships with humans.

Governor Terror:

Govenor Terror is the villan in this story. He continues to look down upon Millie despite her multiple attempts to get his attention. He hates dogs and has created as many laws and restrictions as possible to get rid of all the stray dogs on the streets. That, by the way, is all his fault. People had warned him about the growing issues with puppy mills, but he never listened.

Cassie:

Cassie is Millie’s best friend and second sidekick. She has always been bullied at school for being a geek or nerd. She never knew that her smarts could save her favorite animal, dogs. She helps Millie build a website to contact people who are looking for a dog and she has meetings with them to figure out if they would be the right owner and would responsibly take care of a dog.

After the countries biggest bombing yet, which surpassed The Bombing of 2098, people and animlas were left homeless, including most of the dogs coming from puppy mills all across America. Suddenly there were hundreds of thousands of dogs roaming around looking for food and shelter. The majority of these puppy mill dogs were in bad shape to begin with, but the extreme lack of food and shelter left many in even worse condition than they were in at the mills. Governor Mitchell Terror of Missouri despised these dogs for all they were. He wanted them out of all of the cities and he would try anything to get rid of these disease filled dogs no matter what.

Millie would gag at the sight of the dogs at the metro station. They smelled, many had ribs and other bones sticking out from their matted fur, and many of them were just plain ugly. Millie never knew that very soon she would actually care for these dogs. Not until that day at the metro station.

—-------- (fast forward multiple chapters)

“I just cannot do this anymore Mom!” Millie shrieked. Tears were filling her eyes. The tears stung on her dust covered face. Her bruised lip quivered and her ears rung from the sounds of the bombs exploding and the yelps of dogs getting picked up by bulldozers and being hauled off in small metal cages that were covered in blood and dog fur. Millie felt traumatized. She tried. She really did try.

“Shhhh…,” her mother said softly, putting a slim finger to her lips and brushing Millie’s brown hair out of her eyes, “Millie, dear, I understand you are angry, but if the neighbors hear they would call the forces and The Forces may break in and well-.”

“I know and I’m sorry. I just can't watch dogs getting slaughtered in front of my eyes,” Millie looked out the window at the Animal Control man who was chasing a young dog down the street. Probably a puppy. “The government doesn’t even care about these dogs. When the mills were still producing they didn’t shut them down. They didn’t do anything until thousands of dogs were on the streets, rotting away like garbage.” Millie’s mother sighed. She walked toward the freezer and pulled out an ice pack.

“Here,” her mother said, handing her the pink ice pack, “Put this in a towel and ice your lip. The bruise should go away sooner than later.” Millie willingly took the ice pack and watched her mother leave the room. Millie rolled her eyes. The old house shook again. “Must be another bomb,” Millie muttered to herself.

She walked up the creaky wood stairs of the home. As she walked, she looked at the screens projecting pictures on the wall. Photos of Millie as a baby at the adoption center rotated in a circle. There were also photos of her mother and fathers wedding and photos of Millie hugging her father and eating ice cream with her mom. Their family used to be so happy and full of joy. Millie pondered on the thought of when her family became a wreck. Could it have been when Millie’s dad left for the war? Was it when Millie started trying to save the ex-puppy mill dogs all those months ago? Whatever it was, Millie wanted it to go away. She wanted her dad to come back and she wanted her family to be happy and stop being so serious all the time.

Millie arrived at her room. The door was pink, which was her mothers choice when she figured out Millie would be a girl. Millie despised the color pink, almost as much as she despised Governor Terror. You could never compare the color pink and Governor Terror though, Governor Terror would always be more hated. Millie put her thumb into the detector on her doorknob. There was a soft clink of the door's locks unlocking. Millie opened the door. She walked into her dim room. “Brainem, turn on the lights and close the blinds,” She said to the intelligence services hidden somewhere where she wasn't totally sure of. Millie waited patiently for the blinds to close all the way. Once the blinds closed fully, she went to her bed which stood on a high platform. Under the platform were cabinets that were supposedly filled with food and electronics like the old iPhones and computers Millie collected. On the cabinet door was a small touch screen. With a swipe at the screen the door slid to the right revealing white wooden slats. These were the slates of a crate. Specifically a dog crate. The crate wasn’t huge but could comfortably fit three mid-sized dogs. Millie opened the door. She was greeted by a wet nose. The same wet nose she had felt at the bus stop all of those months ago. “Roscoe!” Millie said laughing as the dog licked her face. Roscoe barked and Millie froze. “Roscoe, stop it!” she whisper-yelled to the goofy dog. She knew that the dogs she was keeping hidden in her house needed to be quiet. After all, owning or helping a stray dog was illegal in the United States and the rules and punishment were even stricter in Missouri.

Litter pollution in Antarctica By Rohan

“It was one sunny day in San, Frac the capital of Antarctica with a whopping 80℉ and over 300,000 pieces of trash in the ocean that have been thrown out into the ocean because of Oscar E. Chase the president of Antarctica thinks that trash in the ocean is better for the environment than trash in the cans where it is supposed to be in.” Jed Hunter reported for Antarctica continent news. “Oscar was told that when the trash is in dumpsters it is worse for the environment than the trash being in the ocean or on the ground. The way that Oscar has learned about this problem and how he is teaching it to others is through world-famous social media platforms which are Twitter and Facebook. Also, there is this 7th grader boy named Jeffrey Gates that has been posting videos to say how littering is wrong and how it releases greenhouse gasses.” Jeffery has some other friends that know what Oscar was doing was wrong so he told him his mission to try to convince the civilians that littering is wrong. Jeffery and his friend Noah both know that littering is wrong. So their mission is to first start small and then go big. They were going to try to make trash cans and hope that the news would recognize them. And day after day they were trying to find trash cans and put the litter in and trying to find wood to make their trash cans. The news reporter started noticing that the litter is bad so the two kids decided to start an organization to get rid of all the litter that was being thrown in the ocean and creates more trash cans. And that was a very good idea because that business was very successful, even getting the sheriff's attention to help them out. The sheriff decided to make a deal with them. The deal was if they get rid of 1000 lb of trash from the ocean and all around the city they will make a law that is illegal to litter, they're not in charge of making now walk past but they will do whatever they can to do. At the time the two boys but this was not a good idea why wouldn't they just want to do it right away the two boys asked themselves but they were getting what they wanted anyway. A few months later they achieved the goal and the law was passed. At the time Jeffery was a big sensation in that town because they were one of the reasons why people were not dying of gasses and plastic pollution. Jeffery started meeting up with the president and becoming very helpful with Oscar and got to have special meetings about what they should do in the future. As he grew up decided that he wanted to become the vice president of Antarctica. After all, he had done a lot for that continent and he was going to be the vice president. And those special meetings with the president they talked about getting more trash cans out and getting more of those huge trash trucks out trying to make electric trash trucks. All people care about what is they pay for their jobs so there were very few people that were wanting to pick up the trash. So, Oscar, that is a great idea to raise the pay for trash can clean up, and just like that more and more people wanted to help out.

Proceed to read the story. IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE INTRO TO THE CHARACTERS AND PLOT I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. THE STORY WILL MAKE SO MUCH MORE SENSE.

A Trace Of LGBTQ+

“No… No!” I stumbled backwards into the window. “Let go of me!” I whispered. I pulled my arm out of his grasp and ran out of the room. How could Alex say such a thing? He was supposed to be my friend. I walked quickly towards my tower, occasionally looking back to make sure he wasn’t following me. I couldn’t deal with him right now. I look back again to see the thing I was dreading. “Annette!” Alex called. I sped up and ascended my tower. I quickly changed into a less pink outfit with less dress and more athleticness. Only he knows I own stuff like that. My parents would be furious if they knew I owned something that wasn’t pink and a dress or skirt. I heard the sound of footsteps climbing the stairs to my tower. I pulled on sneakers and grabbed my bow and quiver full of arrows. Knock! Knock! I hurried to open my window. “Annette! Open! I need to explain!” shouted Alex. I grabbed the bucket hanging next to my window and shoved my bow and quiver into it. “No one’s home!” I called and jumped out of my window. Free falling, I flipped around for a second before I hit the net and bounced. Regaining my sense of direction, I scurried out of the net to the pulley system Alex and I had installed a year earlier. I wasn’t supposed to be building, so I had to tell people that saw it that Alex made it. I yank on it until the bucket with my bow and arrows arrive. I’m not supposed to own a bow and arrows either, so I built a secret compartment in my room for all the stuff I’m not supposed to have. I dash towards the forest, sliding my quiver as I run. I think about what Alex just told me. Is it true? It must be. Why would he lie to me? I knew I should go back and talk to him. But it was all just so unbelievable that I had to take my energy out on something. Oh great. I sighed as I remembered there was a big dinner going on tonight. Another thing I just can’t deal with. I come to a stop, panting, and sit down at the base of a tree. I try to just breathe calmly and take it slow, but what Alex told me won’t get out of my head. Before I know it, it’s time for me to go back to my tower and get ready for this stupid dinner. Back in my tower, I gag as I find a “perfect” pink poofy dress to wear to dinner. I find my mom in the sitting room and ask, “When are our guests coming over?” She replies with “They’ll be here in half an hour. Mmm, more eyeshadow.” She gestures for me to go put on more makeup. I grumble and roll my eyes. Half an hour later I hear the gigantic doors creak open and the chatter of guests entering. I know my part as the princess is to be welcoming and nice to the guests but I really don’t like the reason they’re here for. Thinking about that makes me think about what Alex told me earlier. No. I push that out of my mind as I greet the last few guests. I lead them to the parlor and our maid pours them a drink. I make sure to thank her because no one else does. Everyone treats her and all the other maids badly because they’re maids but I believe in human rights. Rights for all! Anyways if I told my parents to treat the maids any better they would look at me like I lost my mind. A few minutes later my mom informs us that dinner is ready. It’s the fanciest thing of course and it is nothing I like. I sit there messing with my soup and trying not to eat it without looking like I’m trying not to eat it until Mother says it’s time for dessert. That cheers me up. The maid brings in everyone’s dessert and I eat it happily and quickly. I stand up and whisper in Mother’s ear. “I’m going to my room. See you tomorrow.” She nods and waves goodnight. I take the stairs two at a time. I need to get out of this stupid dress. I come to a stop in front of my tower to see Alex. “How long have you been here?” I whisper-shout. “I- I never left.” Alex responds nervously. “I- ugh. What do you want?” I ask. “Annette. I need to explain what I said earlier. You don’t understand.” He says seriously. I hesitate. “Alright fine. Give me a moment to get out of this stupid dress.” A few minutes later he’s sitting on a pouf in my room and I’m wearing something less pink and more comfy. “Now. Explain.” He sighs. “It’s a long story.” I look at him. “I have nothing to do. Begin.” I say coldly. I know I’m being a bit harsh but I’m still in shock and disbelief. “It all started when there was a huge war back on the planet of our ancestors. They used to live on a planet called Earth. One country thought they should rule the world and this country was super against LGBTQ+ and stuff like that. So this country decided to use a nuclear bomb. But everyone knew about it, so it wasn’t a surprise. All the other countries and a bunch of rich people all got into spaceships and rockets and stuff and flew to this planet, Saturn. Meanwhile, the people who couldn’t afford to be on a spaceship got blown up. Along with Earth. Meanwhile, the person who started all this hate towards LGBTQ+ people had also made new home on Saturn. He decided he was the King of Saturn and he decided that Saturn was an anti-LGBTQ planet. And no one could stop him. So no one tried. And this was your great great great great great great great grandfather.” “Joy.” I said and rolled my eyes. “Continue.” “Well your parents still uphold all those laws. They make sure being LGBTQ+ is illegal and do a bunch of horrible things to anyone who dares to say otherwise.” “Yeah… I- Thats- Um- Ok.” I spit out. My whole face frowns as I say “Are you sure?” “Annette of course I am.” He responds. “Well so… My parents are like, the bad guys?” I ask. “I mean, if you wanna think about it that way.” He shrugs. I narrow my eyes at him. “And who told you all this?” I eye him suspiciously. “I can bring you to meet them tomorrow if you want.” He offers. “Okay. I guess.” I say. “Now stop lurking around. Go home and get rest. I feel like tomorrow’s gonna be a long day.” The next day Alex comes over bright and early. In fact, that’s what I wake up to. Knock knock! “Come in. Geez why so early?” I mumble. “Well, I thought ahead and I remembered that your bodyguards go everywhere with you and that won’t be good for the trip we’re making, so I decided the best time to leave would be as early as possible.” He says brightly. “Yeah yeah. Maybe less early next time?” I complain. “Alright fine. Next time I’ll just let your bodyguards come along and to do something probably illegal.” I sit up boltright. “Probably illegal you say? Ok I’ll get ready. Meet me outside in 10 minutes.” I dress and grab a satchel and put my necessities in it. I run by the kitchen and grab a bagel for breakfast. I slip out the big creaky doors and meet Alex. “Lead the way.” I say. We walk to the village edge. We make a right then a left. Alex walks up to an ominous looking house and knocks. “Alex my friend. Nice to see you again. And who is that?” The person on the other side of the doors asks. “Oh hi there. This is my friend Princess Annette.” He smiles. The person shuts the door. “No! She might tell!” “No, I promise she won’t. She heard the story and wants to understand.” Alex explains. “I-I guess. Come on in.” The person opens the doors just wide enough for us to squeeze in. “Hi my name is-“ I begin to introduce myself but I’m interrupted by the person. “I know who you are. Did Alex tell you the whole story?” The person asks. “Uh, I think. I just wanna know if it’s real.” I say. The person looks at Alex who smiles sheepishly. “Of course it’s real! It’s going on right now! It’s been going on forever! There’s nothing anyone can do! But it’s real!” The person rants. “Yeah, okay. And how do you know all of this?” I ask skeptically. “My name is Leo. I’m what people back on Earth used to call non-binary. It means my pronouns are not she/her or he/him. My pronouns are they/them and it’s another thing your parents have been prosecuting. Another thing your parents have been destroying. My ancestors got on a ship to come here and each generation has been secretly teaching each other about LGBTQ+. So when Alex came to my door I could tell he was another person to tell to keep this running.” Leo smiled at Alex. “Well.” I said. “You told the wrong person.” I saw fear creep into Leo’s eyes. They thought they were found out. But just as they opened their mouth to say something, I said “You told the wrong person because I’m going to stop this. Our world should be inclusive to everyone. My parents need to stop. And you both are going to help me.” I see Alex nodding excitedly and Leo looking apprehensive. “Oh come on. It can’t be that hard!” I exclaim.

MY STORY IS ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE IN 2102- THE FUTURE WORLD.

Settings:

Bola’s apartment has three rooms. Bola’s room has a single wall and a pull-out hovor bed. The rest of the room is divided into the kitchen, the living room, and the dining area. However, Bola’s brother Westl gets his own fully-sized room which is decorated with superhero-ish things like masks and capes. Bola’s parents get another room. Theirs is full of antiques like fishing hats from the mid-2030s, shoes from the late 2040s, and their blue curtains are from early 2019.

The secret room is next to Bola’s room. It has a red door, and inside of it is very dark. Many of Bola and Westl’s friends dare each other to go in and stay there for five minutes, but no one ever takes the dare.

Texas, Land of the Machines, is a very futuristic place. There are factories and robots, and it seems like the whole big land is just a car mechanic’s workshop. Texas transformed into the Land of the Machines when the great robot, R8-US-3, took over the whole entire state after a large fight over it. R8-US-3 had a big factory built, and then eventually built enough so that the state became one giant factory itself.

Dasmout Cavern is a very deep and dark place. It runs about 200 feet in, and is about 60 feet high. There are large stalactites that have been hanging from the roof of Dasmout Cavern for many years. Most people think that the Cavern is haunted, because it is unlike anything they’ve ever seen before- the cavern is the one place where other free life still roams, but the life within the cave is secretive.

Archetypes:

My main character and our anti-hero, Bola Felu, is a 10 year old girl who is the big sister to Westl Jazz, her little brother. Bola has moved twice in her life, and was born in New York City, New York. She was born on May 8, 2092. Bola likes the color orange, because it is fun and seems to always brighten up the room.

Bola’s little brother, Westl Jazz, is a kid that is only eight years old. Westl loves playing sidekick with Bola and he also loves pasta and the color burgundy. Westl was born on November 5, 2094. He doesn't like mice at all, and he definitely does not like socks. Socks get all caught in his feet when he puts them on, and that is so annoying!

Bola’s mother, a 42 year old woman born in New York City in 2060, is named Jelixa Ghanson. She is a worldwide known scientist, and is quite busy working frantically to try to stop Climate Change. She tries to stop it with an invention a bit too late, because she waited and waited to come up with a machine to stop the Earth that will soon erupt, and not only because of her daughter’s present vision.

Bola’s 48 year old father, born in Michigan on January 6, 2054, is named Slay Yatz. His job is to be an entrepreneur who comes up with great ideas to help destroy the universe, under the watchful eye of Mr. Grindal, his villainous work boss. Slay soon finds out that the world is more important than his job. Slay has worked for Mr. Grindal ever since he turned 23 years old.

Mr. Grindal is a man who just wants to destroy the Earth. He is a really mean person who is the boss of Slay Yatz, and he keeps a very important secret from getting out into the world and into Slay’s family- he has control over Slay through a technological hat. This control means that he can see through Slay’s eyes (like looking through a window) into whatever Slay sees. He basically is in charge of Slay’s brain as long as Slay keeps the hat on. Grindal used to be a scientist, but quit when he found a job with more money- destroying the world. He’s in charge of all factories and other pollution products. He was born on March 28, 2050 in Illinois.

Jacob Smith is Bola’s new friend. He was born on October 31, 2000, and was born brother to Jane Smith, who was his twin sister. Jacob died on October 30, 2088 at age 87. Jacob died beside his letter from his long lost sister, Jane Smith. Not much else is known about him, except that he can help Bola with the Climate crisis. But that’s a whole other story.

Look At The Climate

Scene 1: The Explosion and The Truth

By Elsa Cudnik

It took five minutes for the world to begin to end.

That’s right. Five minutes.

My name is Bola Felu, I am 10 years old, and my family is all huddled together in the middle of a dark, dark corner.

Climate Change is destroying the Earth, and I know it is all… I can’t catch the name of whose fault it is. It starts with an “S”, then an “L”, an “A”, and a wh-wh…”Y”?

I flip my eyes open from the terrible vision I have just had. My mother, Jelixa Ghanson, is a scientist who has been trying to stop Climate Change for years. Mom likes to say, If only humans had paid attention to the ones from long ago, they would have realized that humans are going to go extinct because the world can take care of herself.

My dad is a very important man, and his name is Slay Yatz. He never ever talks about his job, but he talks about Mr. Grindal, his work boss. He works under Mr. Grindal, and I do not like Grindal very much at all. He is not nice to me, and he gave Dad a weird hat that wraps around his head. Dad calls it the thinking product. It helps him think, but lately I’ve noticed that it releases harmful chemicals and gasses and smelly things and gross smoke-ish stuff into the air. Now his head smells like smoke from a fire mixed with burnt chemicals.

I cough, not only because Dad is near, but because I see that the window is open. No one can ever have windows open anymore because there are just a bunch of factories outside, and the smoke gets all everywhere. I saw some smoke the day that I saw the last flock of snow geese. I was about five years old then. The smoke floated up and the geese disappeared. No one has seen any snow geese since, and the government declared them extinct. Not like the government cared, because all that happened after that was more factories appearing.

“Dad,” I mumble, to tell him about my vision that will soon take its place. However, Dad is busy fixing his thinking product, (straightening it) paying zero attention to me. I sit straight up in bed, kicking my foot in annoyance.

I accidentally kick the vase of Louo flowers next to my bed.

“Bola Alaric Felu!” Mom announces, finally opening her mouth to scold me. I open my own mouth to tell her not to yell at me and that I am not going to kick the vase anymore, but instead I make a big noise. It sounds like something inside me broke. “What the?” I say, not knowing I could make a noise that strangely sounds like our air conditioning. Oddly, as I talk, the sound goes on.

Mom begins to reply in confusion, but suddenly the sound of that rumble that came from my mouth shakes us. It is getting louder! And my mouth is no longer open! Dad looks out the window and the rest of us look at the ceiling to see if our air conditioner broke or something. My brother Westl Jazz comes in the room and he looks like he just woke up. “What in the world is happening? Is this a game of hero and sidekick?”

Dad pulls his head back in from the window. “Get in the secret room!”

It is getting louder and louder, so loud that I think my ears will pop. Mom shoves Westl into Dad’s arms. Dad and Mom both run into the most safe place in our apartment- the secret room. I shakily follow them, crashing into everything as I go, because our apartment is rocking. It is really dark in the secret room, and usually scares me. Mom quickly gets hold of a flashlight, and forces us all into a corner. “W-what’s happening?” I shout, but no one hears over the roar of the sound- whatever it is. Then I realized what was happening. My vision was coming true.

My dad’s helmet hat flies off all of a sudden, and bangs to the ground. It bursts into flames, to my surprise. Instantly, Dad returns to his old self and he stops smelling weird.

“Jelixa, we knew it was going to happen!” Dad yells to Mom, and his words are obviously not meant for me or Westl. “We knew that the world was going to end, and it is all me and Grindal’s fault! We have been polluting the world with THAT!” He points to the burning and smoking hat and crushes it under his fist.

“You were working against me this whole TIME with the Climate!?” Wails my mother.

This is the first time I really know what the so-called “thinking product” was on Dad’s head. It’s a tracker- (an A3Z-5) and Grindal had been taking control of Dad through it.

Climate Change is destroying the Earth!

And I have to do something about it.

I am going with my mother to a secret cave in Texas, Land of the Machines. My mom has an assignment from her work boss. She got a mysterious call saying that there was a cave where animals like the rattlesnake and the cactus still roamed. Apparently, cactus are walking creatures that are pointy and green with huge thorns. I am terrified of them. Mom is really super sad about Dad’s work against her for the Climate, so she took the call and here we are in Texas. I believe that she needed a break. And she brought me with her, and Westl too. So now Dad is home alone. Westl only wants to play sidekick with me though, so that’s what I plan to do with him.

My mom hops out of the newest car we bought, shoving her updated gas mask onto her head so that she can breathe amidst the smoke in the air. The new car has no driver seat, but it has a built-in mattress. It is shaped like a pod and it flies. I follow Mom, putting my own gas mask on, and glancing around for walking cactus. Westl (sadly) brought his toy superhero and now he keeps shoving it in my face.

“Westl, stop!” I say, really annoyed. Mom looks back and shushes me. I feel my face turn red with anger. “What the heck are we even doing here? We are in the middle of nowhere, and in a place full of machines and factories just like at home! Some vacation.” I hiss.

Mom peers into the cave. She takes a couple steps in and disappears into the darkness. I gasp, look around, and follow her in, Westl trailing behind me like a donkey being led by a rope.

After a few hours of looking around for rattlesnakes, I spot something gleaming in the darkness. I immediately point a flashlight at it. “H-h- hello?” My voice echoes in the dark cave. The glittering thing seems to come towards me. I then find myself walking towards it, as if drawn by a magnet.

As I touch the paper with my pointer finger, the cave shines as bright as the sun! Mom and Westl seem not to notice, but I cover my eyes and wait for the shine to go down a bit. My gas mask helps with that. Soon enough, the lights dim again and Westl comes over to me.

“Want to play superhero?” He asks. I only sigh.

I shoo him away. “Why don’t you go and see if you can find a cactus?” I say. Westl looks excited and runs away. “Sidekick Westl’s new adventures!” He shouts. I shake my head, listen for a while to the echoes of his words within the cave, and I turn back to look at my paper. It looks old. Probably from the early 21st century! I notice that there is shaky writing on the paper, so I find my flashlight, sit down, and read.

To the one who reads this

March 28, 2022

Jane Smith

Beware of your personality- you may be scared. If this letter is found, please return to the one who died beside this letter.

I stop reading, slowly looking up. I scream and drop the letter as I see a skeleton dressed in rotted away trousers and a t-shirt lying down in the corner of the room. I grab the letter and run as fast as I can out of the cave.

“Bola!” My mom yells for me. “Bola, what’s gotten into you?”

I pretend not to hear, and I sit down in the pod-car on the mattress. I turn on the lights in the car and I read some more after taking a few deep breaths.

To the one who reads this

March 28, 2022

Jane Smith

Beware of your personality- you may be scared. If this letter is found, please return to the one who died beside this letter.

When the sun comes into line with Neptune, a large Climate Change will happen. It is estimated that it will happen on September 9, 2102. It will cause a great rumble, causing families to hide in their darkest rooms for safety. The world can take care of herself, and she will make humans go extinct if they do not stop hurting the Earth. She did it before- look at the dinosaurs 65 million years ago. Look at the period known as the Ice Age.

This is the scientific work of Jane and Jacob Smith on March 27, 2022.

Thanks especially to Jane and Jacob for their wonderful work. Hopefully peace will return to the planet.

Give to Jacob Smith when done reading, reader!

He can not fully rest forever without it. And if the reader wants to stop the world from being destroyed, RETURN TO JACOB.

Here are your instructions…

The letter faded away there. I suddenly knew who the skeleton in the corner of the cave was. It was Jacob Smith. And I knew what I had to do with the letter.

I crept back into the cave, long after Mom and Westl began to pack up their things and get ready to leave. I found my flashlight on the floor of the cave, and I flipped it on. I clutched the letter in my hand tighter and pointed my flashlight toward where I last saw Jacob laying. He was there. I slowly walked toward him, seeming drawn by a magnet, just like how I was drawn by the paper.

Once I came close enough to touch Jacob, I reached out my hand that had the letter from Jane Smith in it and I held it out to Jacob. Then I realized that it would be rude not to introduce myself.

“Hello, Jacob. I am Bola Felu. Maybe you can help me and my mom help the world not get destroyed. Also, I think this is your letter.”

Trying not to scream as loud as an old fashioned train used to blow its horn, I waited for Jacob to speak. Hoping to get out of the cave before Mom and Westl took off in the car, I put the paper near Jacob’s leg.

“Thank you, Bola Felu.” I heard an old crickety voice say. “I can help you with your task.”

I held my breath, knowing who was speaking, but I asked anyway.

“W-who are you?” My voice came out shaky as I stepped away from the skeleton.

“I am Jacob Smith.” Came the reply from deep within the cave.

I held out my hand, took a deep breath, and walked towards Jacob. “It is nice to meet you.”

Jacob held out his hand.

As our hands met, I didn’t only feel the coldness of Jacob’s hand. I didn’t even feel the shivers run along my back. I felt the sense of the present and the past forming together to make the future. I knew immediately that my new friend could help the world go back to a world without trash, without pollution, and definitely without the wrong kinds of changes.

THE END OF SCENE ONE

Why weren’t they talking about the problems in the city?” said Tassie. “I don’t know but for some reason they are too blind to see it.” Hi, I'm Rue and this is my story of “The Water Warriors.” My friends are Tassie, and Nate, and together we will be the ones to stop the havoc in our city, Saint Louis, MO. “We need to do something about this.” I know I know Nate, but we need a plan to figure out how. “Maybe we could set up interviews, and Nate could write newsletters.” That is true Tassie, but we can’t just walk around protesting out of nowhere. We need to be secretive and just put posters around. You like to make posters right Tassie? “Yeah I do.” See we are getting somewhere. And uh-- Nate, don’t you like taking notes? “Yes'' See? You guys could interview Max. “The one who hates everything AND is the Govenor’s son? Well, yeah but we still could tell him to ask his dad what he will do about the problem.

A few hours later, we came up with the best plan to alert people about this problem that is occurring all around the world. First, we went to school and asked Max if we could interview him. He was hesitant at first, but he agreed. I went around putting Tassie’s posters and signs around the block. “Ok so first things first” said Tassie. “What do you know about water conservation and water waste?” “Uh I-I don’t know about that.” “Ok great, Nate did you take notes?” Nate? NATE! “OK OK Tassie” “Max, have you seen a logo like this before?” “Yes, yes I have seen that before.” “Ok great, he has seen the posters.” “Has your dad ever talked about this topic before?” “No but I have heard him say water before,” said max. “This is such a waste of time!” “I'll find someone else to interview, you go while I'll skip class and walk around the block.” said Nate. “Ok but make sure you find someone.”

While I was walking and putting up posters, I saw Nate walking and talking to people. “Hey Nate, did you get anything out of Max?” “Nope” Nate said, but he has seen our logo.” Soon later everyone was looking at the signs. This was good because they are being aware. “Awesome.” Nate said. I think we convinced Max. “What is going on here?” Said the governor. “I think I'm doing my work just fine.” “Take it down!” “NO!” They all said. “We won’t stop fighting for whats right!”The Moral of the story is to fight for justice and for a better place.

Setting: year 6085, North Raidia,Earth. Part one of the epic The End Is Far Behind Us otherwise known as The Ending Times. Characters: Esi/ Esifay protaganist, Pen man secandary antaganist, Arue main antaganist, Whend mistic, Ti side kick.

Story:

Chapter 1

The Gun

The TV flashes on and I jump. I know what is about to happen. There is a girl on a black platform in a public square. There is also a man wearing a bulletproof vest with the UI logo on it. He has a gun. I try to turn off the TV but I know it will not work. I can not even turn off the audio. I suddenly jump away from the TV as a loud crack booms from the speakers. I look at the TV then look away almost instantly. There is no girl there anymore, there is just a black charred thing on the ground blood gushing out of its face. No one would even know that that thing on the ground was only seconds ago a girl. I fell asleep on the floor of my cubicle that night. I was too scared to walk to the sleeping chambers.

Chapter 2

Blurry Past

This happens all the time. I just should have run out of the room before it happened. My mom always told me not to look at it and run out of the room. Of course that was before she took a place on that screen. I was fourteen when it happened. I was above ten so I was a legal adult but I still felt like a kid. I had to use all of my money to get a room in a condominium and to get a job. I spent almost every single day on my couch crying about my mom, while I was not working. I was only paid the minimum wage of $1.75. I barely got by. Why did she have to write that stupid book! I muttered to myself almost every second of every day

My mom named me Esifay and I still go by Esifay. My life was hard but I was able to put up with it until I heard a loud bang on my front door.

Chapter 3

The dome

I run to the door. But the second I opened it a horrible searing pain engulfed my head. I let out a scream as my limp body hits the floor.

I open my eyes. I am sitting on a cold metal floor, in what appears to be a sand strider. A sand strider is a train-like machine that glides across the great dunes that now cover the landscape. I am in a large room with dark metal walls and a small air vent. There is also a door at the end of the room with the UI logo on it, “They put their freaking logo on everything.” I whisper to myself. I get up off the floor, but quickly grab my forehead as a horrendous pain shoots through my head. “AAAGH” I scream, falling to the ground. I slowly crawl over to the window, and stand up. I am definitely in some sort of dune plain. It looks like the dunes extend for miles, which they are very likely to do, considering the current state of the world in 6085. We being the stupid creatures we are used all of our energy trying to get to 2817b ( a planet in the endramita galaxy ), and when we finally got there It was actually a dead wastland and not the paridice we for some reason thought it was. BANG! The strider stopped suddenly, causing me to fly across the room and hit the wall on the other side of it with a large thud. I run to the window as fast as I can to see what has happened. There is a huge red orange bubble shimmering in the intense sunlight. It is the Titanadome. The Titanadome is a six kilometer wide one kilometer tall plexiglass dome where all of North Raidias trash is burned. A door at the end of the room opens, and a large person comes in wearing full UI gear. They pull out what appears to be a small pen, they point it at me, and tell me “Don’t you even think about escaping, but if you are, you got miles and miles to run, kid, so forget it.”, “Now come with me.” He gestures to me to go through the door. At first I don’t move. but then he rattles the pen thing and he tells me “Get a move on. I don’t got all freaking day.” I quickly walk towards the door as the man gives me a disgusted look. When I make it through, the sun peerce's my eyes. The Titanadome looms over me and the sand strider makes us look like a small assortment of ants. The dome is hideous, and it smells like blood and chemicals. It is so horrible, so dry. Sand sprays my face, it gets into my eyes and my ears, but my nose feels the worst of all. I touch my nose lightly with my finger, and when I look at it it is dripping with blood! I look at the sand underneath me, there are small blotches of blood everywhere. I want to scream, or stop to fix my nose, but the man behind me is very impatient and obviously does not care about my nose bleeding. I keep walking, increasing the speed of my walk by a bit so I don’t fall behind. We are entering a tunnel that goes back deep into the dome. There is trash being hauled by people entering the tunnel. They look so tired. They hardly look like humans or any living thing at all. Is that what they have brought me here? to become a mindless slave? Just like all of those workers. I breathe increasingly hard as the sun gets blocked out of my view. I can hardly see anything inside the dome from the tunnel. Except for “Wait what is that” I whisper to myself. I wince in sheer terror. There is a dead person inside the dome. Their limp unresponsive body leans against the tunnel. Their face is hideously mutilated. Their eyes are almost black, covered with brown and black ash. The man with the pen thing notices what I am looking at and says “They were of no use. They cost too much to keep alive, but luckily we found a replacement.” He looks at me with a wide unsettling smile. My eyes widen and I look away. I’m the replacement. This is why people keep disappearing from their cubicle. This time though I am the one that is missing.

Chapter 4

Shattered Glass

I am panicking and my heart is racing. I have to get out of here before I end up like that dead person behind the glass. CRACK! Everyone around me including myself spins around quite quickly. There is what appears to be a large rod slowly pushing itself through the sky toward the dome. This is my chance I think to myself. The man with the pen-like thing is still looking at the rod. I slowly creep my hand toward the pen thing then in a split second I grab it.

The man turns around to see what happened, but I am already running through the end of the tunnel that we came in from. I push my way through the crowd of workers trying desperately to make it to the sand strider. BANG! BANG! BANG! A small child next to me collapses onto the ground, blood pouring out of a huge gaping hole in her head. I scream, then I run even faster. My hands shove the pen thing into my pocket. I thought that if I stopped my legs would keep on running without me. BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! When I reach the sand strider there are about seventeen dead workers that had been shot by the people running after me. I don’t know why I did it but I took the pen thing out of my pocket and shoved it into a port on the side of the sand strider. It was a good thing that I was holding onto the pen thing tight because the sand strider was starting to move. I ran then jumped into the cockpit-like front of the sand strider through the door. I then close the door behind me, and stumble onto the floor. The guns continue to fire but not at the sand strider but at the rod in the sky. It appeared to be gaining speed as it descended. The sand strider continues to move, and I start to turn the steering wheel. I turn it away from the dome and book it.

When I am about a Kilometer away from the dome I look back. The rod is actually huge and not small at all like I thought it was originally. It is gaining speed as it moves closer and closer to the Titanadome then it hit. The rod pierces the dome and in a split second the whole thing shattered and fell all at once like a gigantic oversized glass dish hitting the floor. The rod has punctured the ground and is now standing in the middle of where the dome used to be. I swear I saw a greenish blue light illuminating from the top of the rod as a cloud of dust completely made of glass shard rushes my way. I turn the sand strider on ninety kilometers per hour and dart away, as the glass scrapes and scratches the sand strider with its pointy and jagged edges. Then I hear a noise like whimpering and I look back into the containing compartment, there is a small child and a woman sitting in the back of the room.

“You were very brave,” the woman says. “Where are we mommy?” askes the child in her arms. “We are safe,” she says back. The woman now turns to me and says “Hello my name is Whend”, “And this is Ti. What is your name?” “ Esifay” I say confused. “The rods” Whend says under her breath “what” I say back “The rods are here, they have only been known to arrive one time 2093.”, “You made a very smart choice running away.”, “Yes, very smart” says Ti who is now sitting in a chair looking out the window of the cockpit. “Does that mean we are all best friends now?” says Ti “I guess so” says me and Whend at the exact same time. Then we all start laughing. I never thought I would laugh again, but now I had friends.

Alex main character
Tyler mentor
Snake side kick
Brian mercury villain

Takes place in the year 2836
Set an dome that is located in Nebraska

As Alex is thrown out from what he thought was a normal town sand starts to fly in his face. Instead of waiting for it to stop he looks around at the wasteland and something catches his eye. It was something shiny. As he walked closer he realized it was a piece of metal next to a mound of trash. Then the wind stopped so he began to move around and he saw something that shocked him to his core. He saw the wasteland without the sand in his eyes. It was full of trash and in the background he could see mountains of trash and the only greenery that could be found was something that had been rotting for so long but you couldn’t tell what they were and a little water there had been polluted so much to the point it was Black and bubbling and getting off of Fairmount of heat. As Alex kept moving he saw more and more trash. But when Alex passed one mound in particular something was rustling around in it.

“Who’s there?” Alex said

A man popped out of the pile and started attacking Alex. But when he looked at Alex he stopped. And he said

“Oh sorry I thought you were someone else. Do you need a hand?”

Alex said “yes.”

The man said “my name is Tyler. What's yours?”

“My name is Alex”

“Ok Alex you need place to stay” he said

“Yes.” Alex responded

“Follow me then” Tyler said

As they walked Alex began to notice how terrible the environment was. So he asked Tyler what happened.

Tyler said “long ago the people who live in that dome lived out here. But when they lived out here the environment was flourishing and it wasn’t a toxic wasteland. The only thing is none of them cared about the environment. They took it for granted and started to litter. It started with small plastics but then quickly became toxic waste because companies were too lazy to take care of the west safely. Soon it began to harm the environment. By the time they realize the damage it was too late to do anything about it. So they built a dome to keep people safe but they only brought the rich men and women to the dome. So people like me we’re forced to live out here in the toxic wasteland. We flourished for years but the raydation soon started killing people off. I know it’s just me and Couple other survivors.”

Before Alex could respond to that Tyler said “we’re home. Or what’s left of it.”

When they got inside the house Alex immediately started to explore. He started looking in the kitchen and he noted that all the food looked fresh And not rotten. As he continued to look he saw everything looked new and not worn out like he thought it would. So he went over to Tyler and asked “where did you get all this stuff?”

“I stole it” he answered

“How did you get in?” Alex asked

“I found a hole that’s small enough to fit through.” Tyler said

“Take me.” Alex demanded

“I can’t because I recently went so they will be on high alert” Tyler said

“Come on!” Alex yelled angrily

then stomped away then Alex realized it had been a while since he ate so he went to the kitchen and took a loaf of bread. So he ate it then went to bed. The next morning he went to find Tyler. When he found him Tyler was sneaking away. When Alex realized what he was doing he yelled “are you going inside the dome?”

“You're awake I thought you’d be sleeping still, but yes” Tyler said

“Why Tyler?” Alex said

“I have two reasons: I'm lonely and it’s dangerous. I've almost got caught hundreds of times.” Tyler replied

“I don’t care, I'm coming with you.” Alex said

“Fine” Tyler said

Alex ran over to Tyler and they started walking. After what felt like hours the ground turned dark brown and mushy then they finally reached it. When they reached the hole Tyler said “we’re here so stay low and quiet.” When they entered the hole it was dark, slimy and water knee deep. After more walking they reached a manhole. When they did he stopped, pulled out a crowbar and opened it. Before Tyler could say anything Alex sped up the latter and made a run for it. The first thing he did was run to the most crowded area and tried to get people to listen to him. When no one did he took a milk crate and stoll a megaphone. He went back to the area and made sure people would listen. So he started telling everyone all that he had learned. Most just passed him and kept on with their day but one or two listened to what he had to say, and like a fire what Alex said reached everyone in the dome including the mayor Brian mercury and his associates freddie May, John Tayor and Roger Deacon.

The Quantum Problem 365 Scene

“So, how do we stop him?” Matt asked.

“You can’t,” Grace replied

“Bu-,

“The only way you can stop him, is to postpone his power,'' she looked at me before speaking again.

“Go to a cave, it's up west from the north side, you'll find a book, open it up to the 4th page, if it's blank, leave immediately, if it's filled with black ink, grab the book and go to earth 276.

I tried to collide with her words, but she interrupted me.

“You will not be able to read the black ink, for it is in a different language. Go, now, all of you!”

She said, moments before she disappeared. I looked at Jacob, his face pale and dull as if his soul had been sucked out of his body.

“Okay,” Clara said, her lips quivering, “let's go.”

So, we left the unique, mortal stone cottage that sat on perfectly cut green grass, and headed on our journey. After hours into the treacherous walk, Jacob suddenly fainted on the bald, cold mud.

“Jacob!” Clara screeched. As all of us whipped our heads in the direction of his lifeless body, Clara ran toward him, kneeling down next to his body. She took her pointer finger and her middle finger, checking for a pulse.

“Well?” Matt said. I could tell he was worried

“I don't know, this has never happened before.”

“Wait!” Sarah exclaimed, ”Noah, if you can read his mind, does that mean he would still be alive?”

I turned my head, thinking of all the outcomes and possibilities.

“Yes,” Saba said, agreeing with Sarah “If you can still get into his mind, that means his brain would still be generating energy and communicating.”

“Wait” I said, “Clara, check if he still has his chip.”

Clara scurried to the back of his head, she looked down. “No, someone removed it .”

“I can still read his mi-”

“No, it's not worth it. Matt-

“I know,” He said, while digging a wide hole with his raw hands.

After Jacobs’ unexplained death, we had all hunched our shoulders. We kept walking, hours and days until I spotted something in the distance. I figured if the cave was only meters away, our hopes might start to flicker again.

“Clara,” I said in a profound voice.

But she kept walking, as if she didn't hear me.

“Clara!” I said, raising my voice this time.

She turned around, her eyes were black, and her clothes ripped apart.

“I see the cave.” When I said this, everyone fixed their posture, and set their eyes on the gaped boulder. After a few minutes of observing, we all ran toward it. The dome started to take its shape;it was rigid and explicit. It's dark tone stood out from nature's authentic colors. As we all stood there in awe, I felt a sharp pain in my head. I gripped my skull tight, hoping to push the pain away, far away. But it didn't help, the pain was so alive my head started to throb, but I decided not to let that stop our journey. I thought to myself it must've been the dehydration, and lack of food.

“We’re here,” Clara whispered. “We're here.”

I walked in first, and to my surprise it was empty. There was a tunnel that stretched so far I couldn't tell where it ended. And as all of us stood shoulder to shoulder, we sighed more heavily than ever, and started to give up. But Jamie didn't. He ran past all of us, sprinting with determination. Saba and Sarah ran after him. Then Matt, then Clara. And as I stood there, all alone, I thought to myself, if I did this Jacob would be proud. Then, like all the rest, I ran too.

It wasn't far until we all caught up with each other, we were standing in front of a glowing object that seemed so real, it was fake. I wanted to touch it but Matt grabbed my hand.

“Remember what Grace said, check if it’s blank or is scribbled with black ink.”

So, I leaned my head over the radiant book, and It was filled with nothingness.

“I can't see anything.”

Clara and Matt both gave each other perturbed looks. Then Matt glanced, stretching over the book. His tall physic was able to see more than I could.

“Blank.” He whispered.

“C’mon, we have to run, all of us.”

Sarah, Saba, Jamie, Clara, and Matt started sprinting. But I couldn’t help thinking that if I left without the book, it was as if I was leaving Jacob. So I snatched the book and ran.

We stood at the end of the tunnel. It was much darker than we had anticipated. But before anyone could say anything, 3 strapping silhouettes came into view.

“So Grace sent you.”

I started to shake, Jamie and I gave each other looks that read, death is upon us, Matt and Clara couldn't blink, and both Saba and Sarah were gone.

Archetypes

-The main character, kitso is a male and loves fish and animals (as coral)

-The side character will be the fish named Tiko, who is a porcupine pufferfish.

-The mentor is man named tatsuo (hes blind) and loves to cook japanese dishes

-The villain is a monster/human that is named Akuma meaning devil and he is part human, part trash.

Setting

The setting is on the coast of japan where all of the air is black except for the coral that lives in the ocean and in houses. The backstory of him is that he lost his parents due to Akumas demons and he has Tatsuo as a father figure. He is a skinny, black haired kid that is empathetic to animals and has a fish, Tiko, and he can talk fish because the world has evolved so much. This takes place in 2090 where the only places that are still able to live due to such conditions, is japan and Florida and Europe where the coral is living everywhere. We take place on the day before kitso’s birthday.

I closed my eyes as the Banthalisk lunged at me. I felt the wind blow on my face as I assumed the worst. Yet I didn't feel gone. I slightly opened my eyes as I saw a streak of water strengle the beast. I could feel power flowing through the air yet I didn't know why. I opened my eyes and looked all around still, I couldn't find anything. I felt dizzy as I looked at my hand glowing with force. I was shocked to see that I was one of the last water arches. I closed my hand and the monster was shattered into a million pieces. It was everywhere. The red eyes. The pearly white teeth with a hint of blue, (coming from the coral that it had devoured.) The last part of it felt as if I had been staring at me the whole time. It felt as if the creature was still alive. I lost my train of thought as I worried about tatsuo. He had been in his house and had said nothing to me for a whole week so I figured I could tell him what happened.

As I walked in the house, I could smell smoke and stir fry roaming about the house as if it was the food house. I stepped right into the kitchen and watched him cooking with only a pan and knife, using all the ingredients he had with him yet I still questioned why he could cook even though he was blind.”Tatsuo, I need to talk about something.” he gracefully put the food into two bowls and slid the second in front of my chest. The smell of the food made me gargle as I haven't had good food in a while. “I just had something happen to me.” I said as I devoured the stir fry. “Like?” he said. “It was a moment where I felt power and energy coursing through my body.” “I felt like I was in a whole other body.” “Now what actually happened,” he said. “I had come upon a banthalisk and it lunged at me, but I didn't get hurt. It just hovered before me.” like I was with the coral” *spit* “What did you Say?!” “Here let me take you down to the library.” he said as he got up, quenching from his lunch, “Before the start of the basilisk invasion, there was coral everywhere you looked but that one fateful day struck out of surprise, killing many people as well as coral.

The only chance we had was to combine with the coral creating a bond between us and the animals making us way stronger than any of the monsters but the only coral that could combine with us was the elkhorn coral.” “That makes sense!” I blabber out. “I remember me and tiko swimming and coming upon a shiny and spiky coral and as I touched it, I felt dizzy then after about ten seconds, I felt fine.” “Now can I continue?” “yes tetsuo” “the problem was that only .009 percent of the coral reefs contained elkhorn coral so no human had combined themself with the coral.” “this is amazing, I can't wait to tell everyone!!!” I blurt out. “The only problem is that if the banthalisks catch you talking about this, all of them will come after you until you're dead so dont go telling anyone except for tiko because he was there with you.” “Now go and start your training as a guardian!” Tatsuo pushes me out of his house and slams the door as if he wanted nothing to do with my powers. “I guess I'm our last hope.” I Think to myself as I head to the pond where I could start. Start the journey!

Charlie was really hungry but he couldn't have pancakes because he needed more money. Charlie only had a couple pairs of tiny shorts and a few old shirts and he lives in a tiny house with his mom and his dad. What he wanted was for the ability to play sports but they were too expensive to afford. “Ughh why cant I play sports” said Charlie

“Im sorry honey but sports are way to expensive for us to pay for” said mom

“Well can I at least talk to the owner of the world about this”

“Fine but don't you think that he won't listen to you.

“ I guess but I still want to try to talk to him, bye mom”

“Bye be safe”

So Charlie got on his bike that he had found in the trash but he found it with some other parts and he was able to fix up the scooter so it would work. Once Charlie got to the big palace where the owner lives he would have to ring the big doorbell and get past the security. Charlie was able to get past the security easily because they really didn't care about the security. The owner was open for questions that people could come in and ask. The owner opened the door to a small kid smiling and said “Hi what would you like”. I would like to ask you a question if you don't mind, said charlie ``''Ok sure, come sit in my office and make yourself comfy.” “I am wondering why there is a law about not letting poor kids play soccer because I think it is unfair that kids like me are poor and we can't play the sports that we really want to because they are to expensive so I thought that maybe you could think about changing the law” said charlie wondering what the owner would respond with.”look kid if you really want to change the law than show me why I should believe that a kid like you is going to change the law” “Ok but I think that if you think about it you could really make a difference but thank you for thinking about my question.” So Charlie went back home frustrated and he was wondering if the owner would ever think about changing the law because he had really wanted to play sports. When Charlie had got home he told his mom about how mad he was that the owner didn't really care.

Charlie hero : tiny shorts and tiny shirt, likes pancakes, lives in a tiny house.

Mom mentor: Charlie's mom gives advice.

Archetypes=Pat-Hero/Jen-Sidekick/Robots(factories)-Villan/ Bob-Mentor

Pat saw smoke polluting the area and the ground suddenly turned acidic. He knew this was only one of the 15 factories that were polluting the world. His shoes started to dissolve when he stepped on the muddy ground. All of the trees were pure black and were barely hanging on to the ground. Pat wished that he took Jen with him to turn off the factory, because he was doubting that he could even get in the factory. Pat had to suddenly hide when a hunter robot started up. A robot must’ve seen Pat walking up to the factory. The robot was about to find Pat, but then a spear came out of nowhere and impaled the robot right in its core. Pat looks around and he sees Jen! Pat asks “How did you know that I was here?”

“It was obvious that you would be here, it is the closest factory to where we live. Also where did you get the boat to come here?” Jen asks

“I found it in ShreksVille.”

“ShreksVille!? You are not supposed to go there!”

“I know, I know, but I only went there because I saw a nice boat that I could use to get around.”

“Fine, but never go there again you could die from all of the pollution.”

“Okay, I won’t.”

Pat and Jen started to head to the factory which was almost invisible because of all the pollution. When they get around 50 feet away, Jen asks “Did you at least bring a pollution mask?”

“No… Do I really need it?” Pat asks

“Yes you do! So you don’t even have a green pollution mask? You used to always have it on you.”

“But it is essentially not even wearing any mask!”

“Better than nothing!”

“I guess you are right.”

Pat puts on his all green mask, while Jen puts on her black, modern looking pollution mask.

“Where did you get that?” Pat asks Jen

“Do you really not remember?”

“No…”

“We found it in St. Louis!”

“Oh yeah! Now I remember!”

“You might need a new brain!” Jen jokingly says. They start walking to the factory dodging the patrolling robots, and they reach the backside of the factory. They slowly open the door and see no robots and no pollution inside. Pat says “We must’ve picked the door that robots don’t guard!” Jen nods her head. They look around the metal building and see an almost broken wooden staircase that looked abandoned.

“Should we go up these stairs?” Pat asks

“While they don’t look super safe, we don’t really have an option, this room is enclosed and only has one staircase.”

“Yeah. You’re right”

Pat and Jen slowly climb up the stairs, and the stairs creak every step they take. They safely reach the top and go to the giant master plug. They grab the giant cord and pull the cord out of the socket. The first factory has fallen and now there are only 14 left to turn off. All of the robots that are around the factory suddenly fall to the ground. The pollution coming from the factory stops and so does the pollution from Shreksville. Shreksville has now become a safe haven.

Characters
Derek, 13 year old boy: Hero Kathernie, 13 girl: Sidekick Esther, 75 older lady: Mentor Greg, 35 man: Villain/Mayor

This takes place in a small town called Trashy Falls in 3028. In this town there is trash everywhere. The thing is though, as more litter ends up in this town the more power the people gain. Little do they know, even though they’re gaining power the litter is destroying their town causing it to slowly dissolve. So 13 year olds Derek and Katherine go off to find a way to prevent the littering from damaging their town. But along the way they get stopped by the evil mayor, Greg. Greg doesn’t care for the town or anyone in it, and he will do his best to prevent Derek and Katherine from finding a way to save the town.
As they pick up some of the trash off of the street Derek and Katherine walk past a bright glowing dumpster hidden in a dark narrow alleyway. Inside the dumpster were some answers to help the two find a way to save the town. But, before they could jump in they were stopped by the Mayor.
“Hey. What are you two doing?” asked the Mayor, not too happy.
“Oh...we...we were just walking past and saw this dumpster. It has some answers to help us figure out how to save the town from all of the trash.” said Derek, nervous to see what the Mayor was going to do.
“You know the rule. No saving this town. Littering is the only way we get power in this town, and without it we would have nothing.” replied the Mayor furious.
“But what happens if people start to gain too much power? They’d die. We can save this town. We can find a way to have power and still keep this town from dissolving.” said Katherine hoping that the Mayor might change his mind.
“NO.” replied the Mayor full of rage. “I said there is no saving this town and that’s it.”
Once the Mayor walked away Derek and Katherine looked at each other thinking the same thing.

“ Who cares what he says,” said Derek. “We’re going to search through those answers anyway.” he continued.
As Derek and Katherine went through the tunnel they were amazed by all of the answers there were. When they got out of the tunnel they were finally in the World of Answers.
“Hi, I’m Eshter and welcome to the World of Answers.” “Hi, I’m Derek and this is my friend Katherine.”
“Why are you here?”
“We’re here because our town is being destroyed by littering and nobody is trying to save it because the trash is how we gain power. Along with that our Mayor doesn’t care about the town and has a rule that no one is allowed to help clean it. We thought you might have some answers,” said Derek.
“Well what do you want to know?” Replied Esther.
“We wanna know how do people gain power without it being powered by litter?”
Asked Katherine.
“Well in this case you would have to create your own town with your own
system.”
“What do you mean?” Asked Derek.
“I mean that your town is soon going to go down and when it does there will be
nothing else here. Not even the World of Answers. It’s too late to try and save this town.” Replied Esther.
The ground soon began to shake and the World of Answers was slowly starting to fade away and Esther became really sick.
“What’s happening?” Asked Derek worried and afraid.
“I’m sorry, but when I said the World of Answers was going to go down, I meant that I was going down.”
“What?” Asked Katherine confused.
“As the leader of the World of Answers I hold all of the power of the people in this town. So when they go down I go down with them.”
The ground started shaking again and eventually the World of Answers was gone. Derek and Katherine both looked at each other and quickly ran to the tunnel to get back to their town. When they got there, there was nobody. The town was completely empty.

Taking everything that mattered to them. My best friend Emma is very different from me. You may be thinking, aren't best friends supposed to like and do the same things? Well sure that can work for some people but not all. See I like playing tennis and Emma doesn’t play a sport at all because she thinks it's too violent. I could go on forever but I have to focus on bigger things. My Mom is probably the smartest out of all of us. She was a straight A student who went to Harvard and Yale law school and became a lawyer and is the most perfect mom but I know she's hiding something and I am going to figure it out. My dad is awesome. He played with me when I was little, and even taught me how to play tennis. I really think I have a bigger bond with him because he was a stay at home dad before he got a job and my mom wasn't home a lot so she doesn't know me as well. are looking at ways to get onto his platform that has everyones things on it. I look at Emma and say “Look there you see that window, right next to it is a door.” She looks at me and says “right if we can figure out a way to get up there then we should be able to open it, take Miphareo out. We should be able to figure out a way to put all of the houses back in place.” Thinking back on that, I wish it was that easy. Little did I know we would have to get everyone to pitch in and get all of our lives back on track. Little did I know we all had to get jobs even if we had bad backgrounds and work hard for everything we got. As we moved on with our lives Dr. Miphareo was still stealing houses from every city and state in America. But before we could help anybody else we had to fix our city first. As everybody starts working hard and doing things for everyone in the city. A couple of months pass and we are all thriving, working hard and living good lives, but now we are moving on to help other cities, and Dr. Miphareo is still out there.

I groaned after I checked the pot for the seventh time. My water hadn't even gotten hot to the touch yet and it had been 4 hours. I heard a knock at the door. I was wondering who would be up at this hour, but I knew that I needed some company or I was about to die of boredom. I open the door, and without even seeing who it was, this person rushed threw the door and sat on my couch. After looking at her I realized it was the girl from the moving council.there had been three people other than me there, but she was the only one who stood out to me. She was wearing a bright green, yellow, and pink track suit at the meating, and she was nervously biting her nails. Now, covered in dirt, I could barely recognize her, and if it weren't for her frizzy bright yellow hair I would have thought this was a break in. “umm… hello?” she rapidly scribbled away on her note book. “Hello James,” she said, continuing to write things down. “Umm hi” I said questioningly. “How do you know my name?” “ its a long story”	“Ok.” “Why are you in my apartment?”	“This dump? Please. We've been watching you.”	“Who's watching me?” I yelled back to her.	“Let me ask you a question. Have you ever wondered who runs this system, and have you ever thought about the unfairness of this situation?”	“ What situation?”	“tHe council!?” she said shocked.“I'm only telling you this for one reason. Come with me.” all of the sudden she jumped out the window. I rushed to see where she had gone. After looking out the window I could see that she was nowhere in sight. “hurry up James” A Voice said from above me. It was a small balcony above the window of my room that I had never noticed till just now. She called me up to the top of the balcony and we followed it until we reached a dark room. She typed something to keypad and another door opened. The door open it to a massive room filled with all types of people. I followed her into another room that looked sort of like a conference room.“Let me let you in on a little back story. 342 years ago a man named Carter Westing was elected president. He was the first president to ever have one with a third party campaign. The reason he won was because released his idea for The Tower. The Tower was a plan that he had to stop spending the country's money on individual property, and pool it all together into one massive building that could hold up to 4 billion people.”“Hold on,” I interrupted, “if this took place 342 years ago, wouldnt there be close to 8 billion people?”“At this time period there were upwards of 8 billion people, but this wasn't a concern for him. They made it first come first serve. Your Application to the building was sent in, and the more money you paid, the sooner you were considered.”	“That's intense!” I said.“this is where the unfairness of the tower started to kick in. Many people were cut off from all resources including food, water and other daily necessities. They were basically left out to die while the other richer people got to live in a luxurious apartment building. I'm sure you know that the levels of the tower are sorted by wealth. The first level being the poorest people lip here. These types of people are the people who can barely make money, but I went back through the cycle of systemic party over and over again. And on the top level you have the richest people who live in the tower. Once you get up to the top of the tower, you have enough money to live the rest of your life without having to work at all.”“Why are you telling me all this?”“because, like I said before, we’ve been watching you. We believe that you were the only one who can successfully infiltrate the top floor, and destroy all access panels to every floor so that everyone can have equal rights”.

Kendall - Immunity

WORLD:

A select few of people when they were babys got a small disease. The disease didn’t start to affect them until they were older. That's also when everyone started acting weird and forgetting basic information. Only a very small group got the disease when they were younger. So now the reason they aren’t acting weird is because the disease acts as immunity. When Sophia was old enough to notice everyone one was acting weird she finally told her mom which got her admitted to the mental hospital.

Characters/Archetypes:

Sophia - Hero

Nurse Dylan - Mentor

Tori - Sidekick

Michelle - Villain

Teacher - Side Character

Mom - Side Character

Something felt different about this nurse, she seemed like me. I felt like I could trust her.

“Here's your medicine,” She said as she handed it to me.

“Can I tell you something strange?” I made eye contact with the nurse.

“I feel like everyone has been acting differently lately. Like the other day in class my teacher told me that the first president was Barack Obama. When I told my mom about it she agreed with my teacher. Everyone thinks I'm crazy. Or another time my friend told me on the phone to meet her at the park at 1:30. She never showed up, and when I told her about it she acted like she never even told me to meet at the park.” I realized that I was probably oversharing with someone I just met, but she seemed like she understood.

“I know what you mean, it seems like everyone forgets the basic information nowadays,” She replied.

“It’s nice to meet you, I’m Nurse Dylan, but you can just call me Dylan.”

“Uhh it’s nice to meet you too…” I sat back down into my seat.

	Beep beep!

“There's my alarm. I have to go see some other patients now, but I will see you later and we can talk about this more.”

As she left the room I started to think more and more about why everyone could be acting so weird. Does it have something to do with the food we are eating? An unknown virus? Maybe climate change? If I want to get to the bottom of this and figure out why everyone is acting strange the first place to check would be medical history. One problem though… I don’t have access to any of it. But I know who does. Nurse Dylan. I don’t really know her at all, but she seems like she knows something about this problem that I don’t know about.

Around lunch time all patients from ages 12-18 were gathered up and told to go to the eating area for lunch. On the way over I saw Nurse Dylan, I wanted to stop and talk to her but I am pretty sure I would just get into more trouble. So, I just stayed with the group. She did say we would talk about this more later, so, I guess I just have to wait now. The waiting didn’t last long though. Before I knew it Nurse Dylan was calling me over into the hallway. So, I got up and started walking over to the hallway.

“Hi Sophia, sorry to interrupt you when you were eating lunch, but I wanted to talk to you about how everyone has been acting differently lately.” She said as she sat down on the bench near us.

“Oh thank you for calling me over. I was actually just thinking about that. Have you figured anything out about it?”

“Yes I do have some experience with this. I was thinking that we look at medical records to see if the source of the problem has anything to do with it.”

“Oh great! That must mean you have access to medical records!” I replied happily.

“Well not exactly, but I have my ways… ha ha” Nurse Dylan responded not very confidently.

“Okay well I guess I'm trusting you… can we look through the medical history tonight? The sooner we find out the better.” I said

“Sure, but it will be pretty challenging because I will have to make an excuse for why you are leaving your room at night. Which I think would be worth it… I think,”

“Your answer makes me feel very comfortable, thank you.” I replied sarcastically.

“Just expect tonight that I will come over with medical history. You should go back to lunch now. I'll see you later!” Nurse Dylan replied.

“See ya!”

The day went by slowly with nothing to do. All I had was me and this problem to think about. My thinking got me nowhere though. The only thing I could come up with is that I am actually crazy, which you know is always a possibility. I decided to do some walking around the building myself. Maybe I could see if there were any other clues that I missed. The building felt endless. I passed by the lunch area, break room, I passed everything. Then I came upon the offices, where everything seemed normal. Just out of habit I started to read the names for each office.

“Nurse Olivia, Michelle? The front desk lady?” I blurted out loud. Normally, I wouldn’t think anything of it… but when I looked through the glass it seemed suspicious. The medical records were all sitting on her desk. In the back it seemed like she had some sort of planning wall. Could it be that Michelle knows the cause of the problem?
