People over time have thought of different ways and tools to make their lives easier. That was the reason behind the invention of
winches and pulleys that you studied in physics.
Pulleys made life easier
Like all simple machines, the origin of the pulley system is unknown. It goes back to 1500 BC, to the
people in Mesopotamia who were using rope pulleys for lifting water.
Pulleys work by trading distance for effort and changing the direction of the force. For example, using
two pulleys to lift a weight, it only needs half the force to lift it as it would with one pulley, however if the weight was being lifted one
metre high, two metres of rope would be needed. This is called the ‘mechanical advantage' and can be
increased by adding more pulleys into the block and tackle system.
Pulleys were responsible for the invention of the crane. The first recorded cranes appeared in Greece around the late 6th century
BC, now it is a tool that most of us see on an almost daily basis.

- Sails on sailboats are raised and lowered using pulleys.
- Wells use the pulley system to lift the bucket out of the well.
- Curtains at a theatre are moved using pulley systems that pull the curtains apart.
- Escalators use pulley systems to function.

A simple machine is a solid tool used to do different work, in which a force is used at a certain point called (voltage) to overcome another force that affects another different point called

(Payload).

There are many machines that make it easier to work, but when we think of machines we imagine complex combinations of motorized devices and we forget that we are surrounded by simple sentences.

Simple and complex machines are just devices that help us do work. Of course, it does not operate alone. To do a job we need to use either a motor or muscle strength.

Simple machines enable us to facilitate the work of the individual either by weakening the effort exerted or by changing the direction of the exerted effort.

But there is a payoff and the effort requires that it be expended over a longer distance
Benefits of simple machines:

A simple machine reduces the effort needed (force) to do a job. By increasing mobility, it allows the application of a type of effort that requires less force.

The initial force is also doubled, which allows to get the largest power at the end

The definition of simple machines: it is a solid tool used to do different work and it uses a force at a certain point called (effort) to overcome another force that affects another point called (load)
Types of simple machines:
1) The hoist.
2) a reel.
3) Inclined surface.
4) The wheel and the axle.
5) The screw.
6) a wedge.
And each of them has multiple uses that facilitate human life.
A pulley and belt system is described containing a material having two or more pulleys attached to the belt. Helps to achieve stones of sizes and diameters.
The efficiency of pulley and belt systems is very high, reaching 98%.

A simple machine is a machine that makes it easy for us to accomplish the work by changing the amount of force it affects or the direction of that force, or both.
As for the benefit of using simple machines in reducing the force, it reduces the necessary effort (force) to do a work by increasing mobility. It allows applying a type of effort that requires less force and doubling the initial force. The thing that allows to obtain the largest power in the end and the return is always less than 100% because it is always there. Energy loss due to friction.

In addition to food-making machines and clothing-making machines, it saved time and effort, and life became easier, and provided comfort for humans. Therefore, machines are the easiest way to accomplish large tasks that require high effort, so these machines reduced all this fatigue on the human being and provided him with all means of comfort.
