I think language and visual arts are more closely related than we might quickly think so I'd want to ensure that there is imagery associate with the language being used. I'd also want to think about how I can insert myself in the videos I make since language is all about expression.

I think about how other YT channels I watch inform me as a viewer and the ones I watch are usually quick, entertaining, and informative—swift speech, a lot of visuals, and distinct in personality. The best ones have me going back to parts to watch again. History offers a LOT of flexibility. I still learning how to make effective education videos. I have looked at screencastify, iMovie, Adobe Priemer, and just recording a Zoom meeting. I find recording a Zoom meeting is very effective and simple, because the students can see me (Live Broadcast), and I can share my screen and share Photoshop, Websites, and a Slide Presentation. Sharing my screen is like a screencast or Digital storytelling. 

I agree that videos should be short, effective, and concise to keep the viewers attention. I also think some additional editing may or may not be needed depending on the subject and purpose of a video. If I am making an introduction video it will just be me saying hi and showing my website in about 1 minute. However, if I have a lot of time to add in animations and pictures for a specific moment in Art history or technique I will use that as well.

I think CrashCourse YouTube channel creates a lot of great content that included animations and live broadcasting.
