It is really useful to know risk evaluation for suppliers because one can have a better control of different types of hazards. In a food company, there are always several suppliers, so it is important to known that each supplier is working under a good system. Another good option that it´s not mention in the webinar is the Letters of Guarantees where each supplier is committed to work with GMP, etc.

Sanam Rahmanian300994619The purpose of the webinar is to discuss the importance of risk assessment and the factors affecting on creating a risk assessment. Producing risk assessment reports have become significantly challenging for companies as it requires sufficient knowledge of raw materials as well as information about suppliers, manufacturers and distributers. In addition, this assessment has become even more challenging since the food supply chain has gone from local supply chain to multiple tiers and global supply chain. To create a risk assessment a system to rate the hazards is required. If there is a risk, the risk must be controlled and mitigation measured should be identified.

Mainly, this was about the supplier chain and the various risks associated with it. The basic food supply chain seems very simple but in actual it is complex as it has many risks associated with it. The sources of the risk are the suppliers & supply chain entities and raw materials. Each company should have risk assessment documents which forms the basis for acceptance of raw material and its testing. Moreover, the company should have documented supplier approval procedure to make sure that the materials provide by the supplier are safe and of good quality. It also provides insight into the food safety codes for manufacturing, GFSI standards which emphasise on the proper process for the selection approval and monitoring of the suppliers, and food safety modernization act. Besides this, matrix models and basic criteria RA for different suppliers were discussed.

Samantha Poleto (301003983)This webinar discusses the importance and challenges of implementing risk assessment throughout the food supply chain. Risk assessment is challenging as it involves a thorough understanding of the process and materials at all stages of the supply chain, such as raw materials, suppliers, production, distribution etc. Documentation of all processes and procedures can help with determining hazard risk and provides a level of confidence of the risk. Hazard identification and rating the hazards using tools and models can help with risk assessment.

Rafath Nisar 300699993 The commitment to produce safe products is a shared responsibility and it needs to be extended to include the whole supply chain. So it has to be clearly demonstrated through setting up specific roles, responsibilities and expectations at all levels of the chain.Effective communication and collaboration across the supply chain, end-to-end supply chain visibility, traceability and transparency as well as knowledge of current and emerging risks are commonly considered to be the prerequisites to effective supply chain risk management. This webinar helps in providing this information, gives us a clear information as to how this issues could be dealt. Effective supply chain risk management strategies require setting up and implementing the FSMS, the appropriate processes as well as employing the technology to sense and respond to events as they happen.

The main topics discussed in the webinar were how to establish risk criteria and supplier risk assessment using Safefood 360. There are two levels of risk assessment on food supply chain they are suppliers and supply chain entities and raw materials. Each tier of material goes through there should be risk assessment in place. GSFS (Global Standard Food Safety) now requires there to be a documented risk assessment of each raw material, RA forms the basis of acceptance and testing of raw materials. Assessments of supplier performance, and approval procedures are based on risk. There are well defined processes for selection, approval and monitoring of suppliers. Risk assessment models are matrix and criteria. Matrix model is better suited for specific processes, and is usually qualitative and based on opinion. Matrix model uses probability x severity = risk to assess risk. Criteria model is used when conducting large population RA. It uses several criteria that are considered risk and each risk has its percentage of importance and its max risk rating, rating from low, med, high criteria model is much more useful when verifying risk.

Supply chain is quite vast and has evolved from basic level to global level and has various layers from raw material to suppliers to manufacturers and distributors. There are various risks in supply chain and two most important among these risks are - 1) risk associated with supplier
2) risk associated with raw materials.
Each level of supply chain has risks and risk assessment is important as lack of risks assessment can result in company damage.
Risks associated with suppliers can be assessed by documenting all the raw materials received and knowing potential for allergens and food contaminants. There must be proper auditing of supplier by approved auditing team . There should of selection , approval and monitoring of suppliers. According to FSMA these are rules for supplier approval and should be followed to ensure food safety and lowering risk.

The main tiers in supply chain includes raw materials, manufacturers, retailers, distributors, consumers. As each tier goes on, the risk of safety increases. Major risk involved is in the supply chain and in the raw materials. Risk assessment involves identifying these risks and dealing with them. Since supply chain has become global and raw materials are attained from different countries, the risk management becomes even more complex. In order to deal with this issue, the manufacturers need to assess each and every raw material they get, to have check the contamination from allergens, microbes, chemical and physical hazards.

The webinar instructed us with important information about risk assessment of suppliers and how it is closely related to food safety. Generally speaking, risk assessment can be simple classified as low, medium or high, and it should start with the evaluation of the supply chain raw materials, supplier, manufacturer, distributor and suppler. The speaker emphasises the importance of determining the risk level of suppliers in order to track down any source of problems that could have affected the production process. It has become a huge challenge as the market of supply chain is not longer local but global, thus each level a material has to go through certain amount of different risk is added. However, as long as it is possible to identify the risk at each level or in total, it is viable to take corrective actions. As a result, it is important to measure the amount of risk associated to a supply chain.

We come to know that food companies supply chain evolve and grow in complexity. Companies use two types of risk assessment models one is matrix and other one is criteria based which helps them to identify the structure and nature of risk or hazard whether it is chemical , physical or biological. To control and prevent all the risks associated proper documentation and audits should be carried out.The training and awareness of all the staff and members associated with any company is required to understand problem associated and its solution.

The webinar focuses on various criteria of risk assessment which is one of the most complex areas when dealing with food safety management systems. It further explains about the building of the compliance model and the supply chain. The major risk that can occur is at two levels, the first is suppliers and the second is raw materials. These two elements should mainly be focused upon. The supply chain has evolved with time leading to an increase in the number of suppliers(multiple tires) and formation of a global supply chain. The risk assessment in this modern day supply chain is a challenging task due to the complexity of the chain. This requires a well established risk assessment model. With an increase in the tires , the risk increases. This requires qualitative over quantitative assessment. 3-4 years ago it was easier to have a generalized assessment of the risks and potential hazards. Risk assessment with qualified and experienced individuals is time consuming and expensive. Audits also help with risk assessment and to take required control measures for the same. Risk assessment is a very crucial matter and should be taken very seriously by every industry.

From this webinar we gets knowledge how to build a risk and compliance model for our FSMS. This webinar provides a information about food product risks assessment and establishment of risk criteria for supplier and product in our supply chain. We get information about the risks associated which generally start from raw material, supplier, manufacturers, distributors and than consumers.

Hello everyone,
As per the webinar on supplier chain risk assessment I have summarized the following key points:

1. In today's world, the phenomena are not common, unlike the previous days where the food supply chain consists of a few key elements. Today due to the complexity of operations the phenomena is quite complex and consist of multiple steps.

2. The webinar discusses the hazards present nowadays in the food industry which can be intrinsic and also extrinsic. Moreover, the analysis of the associated hazards has been discussed.

3. For example, in the industries, the commonly followed methodology is the "MATRIX" approach.

4. Also, the webinar focused on the importance of Safe food 360 and the implementation of new FSMI.

From this webinar we get the information which helps us to understand risks which are associated with industrial tasks and what factors contribute to increasing the risks of food supply chain. mainly the risks are associated with raw material and suppliers. To overcome all risks faced by industries regular audits should be done to eliminate the problems faced by producers. Moreover, it is important to know that whether the risks are medium or high and research should be done to know about the nature of risk or hazard whether it is physical, chemical or biological. So, characterization of risk or hazard is important identification of risks and their troubleshooting.

Risk Assessment in Supply chain
Two levels - Suppliers supply chain entities,
Raw materials
Supply chain trace ability was difficult in the past. Evolution of supply chain made it easy to trace back the raw material and the suppliers that are associated with the risk. Today's supply chain is multiple tiers and risk increases as the level increases.
It is important to conduct audit of the suppliers and take control measures to prevent or reduce risk. Risk can be assessed based on the severity like low, medium or high.
Risk = Probability * Severity

This webinar reflects on how the food supply chain works and how more risks are added on as the number of tiers in the supply chain increases.

This webinar provides the information related to risks and its assessment in the industries. The Supply chains have expanded rapidly over the decades, with the aim to increase productivity, lower costs and fulfill demands in emerging markets. The increasing complexity in a supply chain hinders visibility and consequently reduces one’s control over the process. Complexity and disintegration are emerging as major challenges in supply-chain risk management. It has become more difficult to identify risks as supply-chain operations have fallen into the hands of outside service providers, and are therefore less visible.

This webinar was about food product risk assessment and establishing criteria for suppliers and raw materials in supply chain .

The main aim of webinar is to provide information regarding several risks in industries and importance of risk assessment. nowadays, companies do not have much knowledge about suppliers, manufacturers and distributors that the reason that developing risk management reports is becoming quite difficult but it is very crucial for the companies to have these reports and maintain them so that they can identify food hazards. Moreover, these sort of assessments have become more challenging since the food supply chain has gone from local supply chain to multiple tiers and global supply chain.

It’s a good source for learning risk assessment of the supplier chain.
