I was in a dark place three years ago and felt like I just wanted to give up on everything. That is when I decided to turn back to my faith and pray for some relief, and I have not turned back since. I got this bracelet my first time going back to church in 2019, after not going for about two years, and have not taken it off since. Coming into my faith as an adult has completely changed my life for the better, making me a happier and healthier person all around. Every time I feel down or angry, I look at my bracelet to remind me of how far I have come and to continue working towards the best version on myself. “Dilemma”

These items were chosen due to my love for flowers and dried flowers. I am constantly drying roses, so these were just the smaller flowers I have saved away. During this artistic process I experimented with charcoal, pastels, and watercolor. I found pastels to be most difficult for me because it was difficult to bled the colors. Working with charcoal was easier, but I kept smudging my work with my fist, which is why I ended up using watercolor for the main media of this final piece. "The Life"

I decided to draw a fishing lure, and this particular type of lure is extremely sentimental. My older brother used this lure all the time, and one day he gave me one just like it. Sadly I lost that lure a couple years later after getting it snagged in a river, but ever since then I've always had one in my tackle box no matter how many new ones I have to buy. Fishing is also a really big part of my life and has been for as long as I can remember. Whenever I'm outside fishing I feel complete and at peace, it's one of the purest forms of joy that I've experienced. I started using pencil but then got into the charcoal, deep shade pencil, smudger, and a little pastel. I am currently finishing up the background. My still life has sort of lost the sentimental part as the image on the glass bottle was too hard to draw. However, I brought in a water bottle that I got in Ireland while staying at a hotel Castle. The other image is my Kendama, if you get bored easily I recommend one, there are endless tricks and combinations. The best part is no specific rules. It is a tradition Japanese skill toy with a ball, handle, and a pair of cups all attached by a string. Using charcoal to complete this piece was a definite reminder on how hard it is to work with and how careful you have to be while using it. Nonetheless, I had a really good time blending the charcoal out, it’s oddly satisfying. I did my still life representation using my angel bear stuffed animal. This bear means a lot to me because it was given to me by the judge who finalized my adoption. I’ve had this bear since I could remember, it’s probably one of the first things I knew to be of significance to me.

"Blue seashell"

I tried different techniques with this piece. I wanted it so bad to have an outstanding blue and black. For this final draft I decided to use the watercolor for the base and the charcoal to go over it and give it an outstanding pop.
I used a seashell that I had found at the beach as my still life representation. I love the beach its a place I go to when I need my own space and time. I tried using the inside to give it some sort of texture and color. Not sure how it worked out but I gave it a shot any way.

I used watercolor and it was a bit difficult at first to find a balance between the water and paint on the brush. The paper was also lifting, which I think you can see in the image. In my rough draft I had experimented with charcoal but I think I was more comfortable painting with the watercolor. I chose a teacup for my still life because I have a lot of good memories drinking tea with my mom. “A part of me “

I chose to draw these because they are all part of me in different ways. I use to dislike hair clips and I also felt like they were for older people. But not so long ago I tried them and I can’t go back to hair ties. Everywhere I go I have to take one of my hair clips.  I would like to get more in different colors. I drew my iPad because I always carry that around with me now and its very important as well as easy to complete my work in. Finally, this is my favorite perfume it smells so good and I just really like it. I believe the material that best worked for me was pastel and pencil. When it came to charcoal if it would it on any part of my hand it would get the rest of the page dirty.I was trying to work mainly with charcoal in my first draft and if you take a look at my final it looks cleaner. I also did a second picture of the perfume to try all pencil shading instead of charcoal on the side.

I chose to draw my doggo and a Dodgers baseball sign that stands for "Its Time For Dodgers Baseball" because when I was going through a rough time a few years ago . Baseball and my dog were a huge distraction for me. I would never be home because I was in the park with my dog or out watching baseball. Baseball would keep my mind out of things and I would enjoy it alot. It would keep me from falling into negative things when I was living through the lowest times. I love my dog, he is always by my side and I feel safe when he's around. In this art piece I played around with a bit of charcoal and used my finger tip to smudge a bit to try to create the baseball shadow. I used pastel colors for the rest of my drawings to add color to my painting.

It just always seemed so amazing and I always wanted to become one. Then as I got older I went through Junior Lifeguards and did every co-program in Junior Lifeguards (Cadet program and Surf Race Team). I wanted to become a lifeguard and just really enjoyed my time in and out of the water at the beach. I chose to do the Newport Beach Lifeguard tower because I have now been a lifeguard for the Newport Beach Fire Department for the last 3 years. It’s actually crazy to think I’m a Newport Beach Lifeguard because all my life I was planning on becoming an LA County Lifeguard because that’s the agency I did JG’s at and all my life I went to the beach and watched my dad's lifeguard! They actually did not have a tryout the year I was old enough to try out which led me to Newport and I absolutely love it there. Although, my dad who is still lifeguarding at 61 years old really wants me to switch to LA County to be a lifeguard with him!

This assignment was so much fun! I really didn’t expect for this drawing to come out this well! This is way better than I could have imagined!! I chose to draw my computer because it’s one of the things I can’t live without. One of the hobbies that I enjoy is collecting fitted hats. I've been collecting hats for the past year. It's been a very expensive hobby but it's worth it. Everywhere I go I have to have my hat. Especially with this hot weather. So far I've collected a total of 14 hats. My friends and I have been collecting hats and it's quite entertaining as we have occasionally exchanged hats. I can't wait to further expand my fitted collection. My experience with these materials were fun. I enjoyed using charcoal but, I won't deny how complicated it is. This piece is a drawing of my Hydro Flask. The reason was I called my drawing safety is because my mom wants me to take it wherever I go. My mom is a little over protective and wants me to be safe. I have been in a couple of situations where alcohol is presented and water is not. This is scary because no one has a drink to sober them up. After I told my mom that story she always reminds me to grab my hydro before leaving to school.
