The history of forever chemicals in fast food doesn't go back very far. In 2016, a group of people was eating at McDonald's and one of them noticed a small piece of plastic in their food. That is when the research on forever chemicals started and to this day people in labs are still looking into it. People are trying to solve the problem but are not succeeding very quickly. As you can see, the beginning of forever chemicals in fast food started very recently.

Forever chemicals have a lot of bad impacts on humans. "People on the front lines of PFAS contamination have suffered for far too long," EPA Administrator Michael Regan said in a statement. This is saying that people that have eaten "forever chemical" suffer for a long time from the results. “While some types of phthalates have affected the reproductive system in animals, human health effects from exposure to low levels of phthalates are not as clear.” Not only do "forever chemicals" affect humans, but they affect animals as well. This shows that forever chemicals in fast food have bad human impacts.

There are very bad environmental impacts from forever chemicals. “The two compounds, known as PFOA and PFOS, have been voluntarily phased out by U.S. manufacturers, but there are a limited number of ongoing uses and the chemicals remain in the environment because they do not degrade over time.” Forever chemicals can start in the food and turns into human waste, which moves to oceans and sewers that then NEVER disappear because it is resistant to water, heat, grease, etc. This research shows that forever chemicals cause bad environmental impacts.

There are many ways that we can solve this problem. “Right now, the most important thing we can do is phase out their production.” This doesn't mean that we need to get RID of fast food restaurants that have produced food with forever chemicals, it just means they should step up their game.“McDonald's and Burger King said they commit to removing all PFAS from their packaging by the end of 2025.” This proves that there are many ways that we can solve the problem of forever chemicals in fast food.
