The purpose of ESL programs is to help foreign students understand linguistic and cultural knowledge that has to do with academic settings. They are small classes and they study English while also participating in normal school activities to help them understand the culture better. Usually, the classes are Monday-Friday with 3-5 classes a day giving a total of 20-30 hours per week. The classes are usually 40-60 minutes long with 5-10 minute breaks in between. To be an ESL teacher, you need to have a bachelor's degree, a TESOL certificate, teaching experience, an advanced degree, and a valid passport.

One strategy that is used is offering multiple learning strategies like what the picture above showed. This helps students bond with each other and understand that everyone learns differently and it will give everyone the opportunity to understand the topic because they have multiple things to help them understand. Such as reading, writing, drawing, talking, and more.
