In the modern world, plants play the biggest role in society through agriculture, and in the environment by producing oxygen. I chose this picture because I felt that it was a good example of my thoughts. Corn is one of the most widely used plants in agriculture, and without plants, like corn, the world population would not be as well fed as it is now. With this being said, agriculture can be considered an extremely large world wide business. Every plant that exists on a farm or garden, produces a percentage of the oxygen that is available to all animals in the world. To my understanding, becasuse wildlife and plants are slowly declining, it is important to continue understanding their role in modern society through the nature of agriculture.

Photosynthesis is a core factor as to how everything in nature works together. This video explains the process of photosynthesis and how it goes hand in hand with other processes, such as respiration. I chose this video because I think it explains the process very throughly. There are good visuals that appear though out the video that can help basically anyone understand what actually happens and where. It is important to understand the process of photosynthesis even if it does not occur in animal life because much of animal life depends on plant life.

When you drive to and from places, on the highway or on backroads, it is not often the people pay attention to their surrounding plant life. However, if one takes the time they might even spot some of the plants that are native to many's home town, Georgia. Below is a picture of a fern that is known as a Pteridophyte. This Pteridophyte is important in Biology because it is native to Georgia. The plants native name is Acer floridanum. I am not 100% sure but this plant does not seem to ONLY grow in Georgia, but if one is curious they can find more information about ferns and other plants native to Georgia at the following website: https://www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?id_plant=ACFL

I believe that the Tundra biome is the most in danger. It is known that due to human activity, the ice caps are melting. This is a result of the increased amount of chemicals that are being released into the atmosphere. These chemicals and other factors cause global warming. Ice melts therefore global warming threatens the tundra biome the most because the entire biome can potentially disappear over time. If the ice caps melt there will be changes in water supply, food supply, and the food chain of all animals. Global warming won't have as severe of an impact on biomes because other biomes don't rely mostly on the constant colder weather.

The Neolithic revolution had many consequences, both good and bad. During this time period plants and many animals were domesticated to better serve the human race, which is represented by the picture below. This lead to a massive increase in the world population, of course after mass distraction. The immediate effects of this revolution was catastrophic due to many diseases nearly wiping out populations. However, with time people learned who to cure and adapt to these viruses and we now live in a mostly domesticated world that is, as a result, reaching its population limit.

This post was inspired by the notes given during this unit. However, the point was too good to pass up. Hybridization is a major factor that came about during the third agriculture revolution. This involves the interbreeding of two different species or two of the same that are genetically different. This is easily seen in apples, which is why I chose this picture. In this picture it shows many different apples that are all genetically different. But, none-the-less, they are all apples. It is known that different types of plants grow in different areas. These apples once grew it other places as well but as trade increased and societies were formed apples began to be more commonly hybrid. This might seem small but this is a big deal in the scientific world.

Ethylene is the most influential chemicals that is produced and can be derived from a variety of fruits and vegetables that grow on plants. One reason this is the most influential chemical is because how much it is relied upon. This chemical is used by farmers to "force" their plants to ripen faster. It is also used in the industry to produce things like paper, antifreeze, and even detergents. I chose this chemical because it is used for so many things that nearly everyone in the world comes into contact with daily.

This picture might look really faded or like it have poor lighting, but the foggy look to it is actually smog. Smog is already a major air pollution problem in many parts in the world including places like Mexico, China, and currently developing in local places like Atlanta, Georgia. I chose this picture because the air really already looks like this in certain parts of the world, and will take over then entire world if the industry is not controlled. Currently the industry is constantly producing products and producing large amounts of air pollution while using up many of our natural resources. If this continues and there is no regulation on the production industry then the picture below shows our world's environmental future.
