         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Setting: </strong><br>The text takes place in a country, in a war-broken city. <br>It is in the narraters childhood home (p.1 l.10), but it does not tell us exactly where that is. It could be both be Pakistan and London in principle. <br><br><strong>Time: </strong><br>It is a mix of present and past. <br><br><strong>Chronology: </strong><br>The text is build chronologically, with flashbacks of previous beheadings, that the 1. person-narrater has experienced.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

Discuss the language and narrative techniques<br>Language:&nbsp;</strong></div><ul><li>The author has an informal language, and tells about his dirty work with a calm voice and language, and even though his work is absurd, the author makes is sound like an ordinary low skilled job, with his everyday language.&nbsp;</li></ul><div>	It also seems like he is telling the story directly to the reader, in attempt   to persuade reader to have sympathy with his work.</div><div><br></div><div>The author is reaching out to the reader by phrases and words like:&nbsp;</div><ul><li>“You don’t know me personally. My experience has never crossed your mind. But I would bet you’ve seen my work” - curiosity (reader)</li><li>“I know you don’t want too much detail, but it’s serious work taking off someone’s head if you’re not s butcher”</li><li>“We feel shabby”</li></ul><div><br></div><div>&nbsp;</div><div><strong>Use of humor:&nbsp;</strong></div><div>The author uses dark humor/irony fx.&nbsp;</div><ul><li>“Don’t bury your head in the sand”</li><li>“Don’t go losing your head now.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Famous beheadings:<br>During The French revolution, in 1793 both Ludvig 16th and month later Marie Antoinette were beheaded by guillotine. &nbsp;<br><br>&nbsp;Johann Friedrich Struensee (1772) Copenhagen.&nbsp;<br><br>Christoph Probst was part of a German resistance group called White Rose. He was beheaded in 1943 in Munich after a trial by the Nazis.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;</div><div>Hamida Djandoubi 1977 in France, he was an agricultural worker and convicted murderer. He kidnapped, tortured and murdered 22-year-old Elisabeth Bousquet, his former girlfriend. (this was the most recent beheading in Europe)</div><div><br>&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
