Joseph Strorm was a great leader and father figure to his children. He was a man with great responsibility, and did not let the image of his father Elias define him. He was strict, but kind. Merciful, but unforgiving. He had a sense of duty, and could put his mind to any task he wanted to accomplish. He died an honourable death, fighting for his home and dying to abide his own rules. He will sincerely be missed.

Deviants Escaped! A Terrible loss for Waknuk!

On the 30th of May, 2455, Waknuk lost the lives of over a 100 men. In the attempt to pursue the telekinetic deviants, David, Rosalind and Petra, the platoon was intercepted by a well-equipped Fringe force.

Out of the 100 men on the hunt to bring back the deviants, only one man came back. That man was twenty year old Michael Wilson. Michael was very dehydrated and exhausted as he rode back into the town of Waknuk.

“We thought we had perfectly countered their ambush, but then an entire new fleet came from the sky and completely destroyed us!” Michael stated, still in shock from what happened. This terrible news was spread almost instantly across all of Waknuk.

Even worse, Joseph Storm, a great man and leader of Waknuk, was also killed during the skirmish. His death has put Waknuk in shambles, fearing another attack from the Fringes and desperately needing a new leader. Angus Morton said with a mischievous smile, “It’s about time that sucker died! Now it's my turn to lead Waknuk the right way.”

Many old souls in Waknuk aren’t surprised about this tragedy. “God is sending down another Tribulation our way, we have failed him yet again,” stated Old Jacob, a firm believer in ridding Waknuk of all deviants.

Overall, Waknuk had undergone a horrible week as the loss of the menfolk had slowed down the farms and many crops had died due to the lack of attention. It is going to be a difficult recovery for the people of Waknuk.

Piece #4: Freedom - Character - Epilogue to the story

It’s been four years since we were rescued from the forests of the Fringes. There hasn’t been a day that’s gone by where I’ve felt scared, or sad, or alone. I’ve been happy. Petra is always the top of her class in elementary school, never failing to impress everyone she’s met. It’s become increasingly more difficult to tune her out, her powers are becoming absurdly strong. Rosalind and I have gotten married, and we’ve both gotten jobs as engineers. We’ve lived our lives in peace ever since, making new friends and creating amazing memories with each other.

Which brings me to today, the happiest day of my life. Here I am, sitting with my little sister outside the nursery room, nervously awaiting the birth of my first daughter.

‘How are you feeling, David?’ Petra asks, even though she already knows the answer.

    ‘Never better,’ I lies.

I can sense that Petra is also feeling nervous, so I put my arm around her to reassure her.

    ‘Thanks.’

I see shapes of pain and struggle from Rosalind, accompanied by relief and happiness immediately after. Not waiting for approval, I bolt into the room to see my beautiful baby daughter being held in her mother’s arms.

    ‘She’s beautiful,’ Rosalind exclaims.

I stand there for a moment, not sure what to say, then I run over and kiss my baby’s forehead for the first time.

    ‘You made this,’ I say.

    ‘No, we made this.’

She laughs, then we embrace for what seems like forever. Meanwhile, the nurse cleans and wraps the baby in a soft blanket. We watch her silently as she sleeps, and for a few minutes we say nothing. Then, Petra lets out a roar of excitement that almost knocks me to the floor.

‘Oh my god she’s so cute! Can I hold her, pleeease?’ she begs.

Rosalind smiles as she gives Petra the baby to hold. The nurse gives Petra a pacifier and a baby bottle filled with milk to give to the baby. Petra carefully puts the pacifier in the baby’s mouth, and shivers with happiness.

‘What should we name her?’ Rosalind asks me.

I think long and hard for a few seconds, but then one name pops into my mind and I smile eagerly.

    ‘How about Sophie?’
