The second virtue is silence which applies to only speaking when it benefits others or yourself. I think in today's society, we need to be more mindful of this. I feel that many people speak to get their own opinion in the conversation, even if it would offend someone else. We also tend to get involved in gossiping, which does not benefit anyone. This being said, I think we value silence to a point, but need to be more conscious about keeping the silence.

I think industry is one of the most important virtues. Time is a very valuable thing. Any time wasted doing something that doesn't benefit you, you will regret. I value my time immensely. I learned to stop spending time on people and things who aren't helping me reach and achieve my goals. Everybody has the potential to have a bright future, but if you choose to engage in the wrong activities or socialize with the wrong people, you will not have gained or learned anything during that time. Spend as much time as you can doing something useful. I don't think enough people value this in today's society. Life is too short to be doing anything other than making yourself better. Many adults and teens spend their time doing the wrong things and getting in trouble or being "couch potatoes" and living miserably.

The virtue I chose is silence. My thoughts on this is that I agree to an extent because I believe that you shouldn't speak out on something if there is not going to be a positive effect. I believe we do not value this anymore. Most people just talk and talk and don't think about the outcome of their words. Maybe some people value this but a lot of people do not.

The third virtue is Order.
"Let all your things have their places; let each part of your business have its time." I believe this is an important virtue and one of the most important of the thirteen. I also believe we still value this virtue because it ties into our daily routines and lives. An example of this could be our government. Every branch of our government has its amount of power and place. Our government is our "business" in a sense. And with the "-let each part of your business have its time," a perfect example of this is our president. He serves four years a term and if re-elected, serves another four but that is all he is allowed. Without the virtue Order, there would be chaos.

"Let all your things have their places; let each part of your business have its time." I believe that this the most important value of the 13 virtues because it keeps everyone in line and it is a vital part in our lives. An example of this is school. The purpose of school is to expand our knowledge of education and to prepare ourselves for the real world. There are school rules telling us what is allowed and what isn't allowed. Without these rules, school would be a chaotic place where there wouldn't be any learning. And without school, generations of kids would be very stupid and would not contribute to today's society. Without Order, the world would be in chaos.

If you look at social media, music, celebrities, movies, and even society, you'll realize that there are sexual innuendos scattered all throughout them. In Franklin's time, I feel as though it was valued a lot more compared to our time now because they didn't have the sources we do today to exploit it.

The first virtue of temperance is very important, which, a lot of people, including me are lacking. Temperance explains how important it is to not eat or drink more than what your body needs. If you can control your food and desire to overindulge, you can control any undesired temperament or quality. As shallow as this sounds, people need to think for their health; temperance is very important and having this quality is a sign of strength. Appetite is the strongest desire humans feel and Benjamin Franklin says that if we can control it you will have the motivation to make many improvements in your life.

I believe that the sixth virtue, industry, is one of the most important virtues on Ben Franklin's list. Industry indicates spending your time wisely and cutting off anything that one perceives as being unnecessary. I think that others should care about what they do, instead of wasting their time on useless things that will get them nowhere. Personally, I appreciate every moment of my life, take advantage of the opportunities that present themselves to me, and cut off any factor of my life that presents a threat to my well-being. A vast number of people may feel the same way since they do everything that they feel is essential, and they make everyday count. However, not many share the same views, as they get involved in unlawful activities, or associate themselves with the wrong people, and end up achieving nothing. Although it is, to an extent, still valued today, few people do not care about what their lack of effort may result in.

While all thirteen have their own significance, I feel that tranquility is one of the most important virtues. It states, "be not disturbed at trifles, or at accidents common or unavoidable." In other words, controlling one's anger marks the behavior of a cool and composed being. It is so important for one to apply this virtue to their lifestyle because not every action needs an aggressive and disturbed reaction. Sometimes the best response to a situation is no response, and if one feels that it is necessary, then a calm approach exemplifies a mature response, rather than resorting to anger. I believe very few people value this virtue; they feel that anger shows dominance and strength, when in reality it takes a lot to be able to control oneself and remain calm.

A lot of people in society lack a "filter" which is essential because if you don't have a filter, you are more likely to say something that you will regret. People normally run their mouth and break their own bridges. Silence definitely needs to be more valued in society.

I think the third virtue, silence is really important. I believe that it's important to value because people sometimes speak too much or don't speak up at all. In this case, people don't really follow it as much. We can compare this to opinions about politics or trending topics. If there's something you don't agree on, you could remain silent to keep the peace. But at the same time, someone might say something and it can turn into a big argument. I feel as though it isn't valued anymore, or if you remain silent and let people say whatever to you, you're a coward for not speaking up. I think it's important to stay silent in the appropriate situations but it also isn't wrong to speak your mind.

Not only do we need order in our everyday lives, but almost everything in the world is based off of some sort of order.
