There could no longer be discrimination in employment. It also forbid segregation in institutions (like hospitals and schools) and private owned public accommodations (like restaurants, hotels and theaters.). Flash forward to 1954, the civil rights movement was starting, which was a fight to for equal rights. There are several other events that were apart of  that lead up to the passage of the Civil Rights Act 1964. Some examples are the Brown vs Board of Education, Rosa Parks arrest, Southern christian leadership conference, and the march on Washington.  Each of these helped demonstrate to the public and the government that these changes needed to be made. There was also some devastating events that occurred, such as Bloody Sunday, which the aftermath was  broadcasted on news channels across the nation. I think it would have encouraged the movement because they had finally achieved their goal of equality.
