Most of the Bajau people live on the sea. They cook and wash their clothes there. They spend their time together (dancing, playing music, singing). They depend their lives on the boat. However, the sea is quite not safe due to the pirates. The pirates rob everything from the Bajau including the food, boat and they also killed the Bajau people. They will also leave the old man, who is not well in the deserted island, without food and shelter. But, they prepare a boat for them to travel in the next life. Nowadays, most of the Bajau live on land.

Bajau Sea Gypsies refer to several Austronesian ethnic groups of Maritime Southeast Asia with their origins from the southern Philippines. Basically, they live on the sea, and they catch fish as their livelihood. Besides that, they cook dishes and wash their clothes on the sea. Bajau Sea Gypsies also face challenges like attack by the pirates, their boat (sampan) will be robbed by the pirates. I think they have a hardcore in living, because most of them look very skinny and lack of nutrition.

What I learnt from the video was that Bajau ethnic consists of Bajau Laut (known as Sea Gypsies) and Bajau Darat. Their main economic activity is fishing. They mainly use fishing nets and fishing bombs. Their daily dietary is seafood. Sea Gypsies mainly live on house boats. It is common for Sea Gypsies to face pirates in their lives as well. Moreover, the Sea Gypises honor their dead by creating a make-shift house boat on an island and laying the bodies of their loved ones there. While Bajau Darat would honor their dead by burying them.

The son will left his old Bajau father on an island and the old man will die without food, water and shelter. As they are living ont the sea, pirates are their main enemy. Pirates will rob their boat and their food. Some of them will die because of this. However, some of the Bajau now live on land. They will pray over the old Bajau when they are dying. After the old Bajau died, they will wrap her in cloth and put her in a coffin. They will then dig a hole enough to put the coffin. They dugged up the graves of others and playing with the skull. Although it doesn't look good for us, but that is their way of living.
