Proclamation of 1763: Rule made by King George III after Britain won the French & Indian War; forbid colonists from settling land west of the Appalachian Mountains in an attempt to establish peace with the Native Americans already living there; important because the colonists did NOT obey and caused conflict with native people, requiring Britain to station soldiers in the frontier; this was another reason why the British thought it was fair to tax colonists to help pay the expenses caused by the colonies

On March 5th the Boston Massacre occurred. It is unclear who started it, or who's fault it was. A mob of patriots threw sticks, rocks and snowballs at some British soldiers. The soldiers thought they heard the command to fire, and they opened fire on the slightly helpless crowd, and killed 5 not so innocent mob members. This was a very important event, because it was a clear sign of a war to come.

On December 16, 1773 to protest taxation without representation some of Samuel Adam's sons of liberty boarded a tea ship and dumped a ton of tea into the harbor because of the increasing taxes. This led to the Intolerable Acts, the British blocked their harbor so people could not fish, or get imports.
