"My brain was pop-pop-popping // when I was looking at those poems" (Creech 35).

This is an example of personification and metaphor because brains can't pop-pop-pop, and it doesn't use like or as. It makes me visualize Jacks thought process, and him as he realizes that poetry can be funny. I think the author added this to help the reader better understand Jack's thinking, and to show why he is liking poetry more and more.

However, it makes you visualize his brain working and liking the poems. From this, you can tell that Jack is liking poetry more and more, and that he wants to write more poems, especially ones like this. Later, on page 37, he writes one of these about Sky, and how Sky was a good dog that made everybody happy.

Jack even tries to write in that way and in his own way he suceeds in doing so, meaning slowly but surley he is getting to be a better writer when it comes to poems.

This also shows how considerate jack can be by showing that one reason he doesn't want to use the second poem is so he doesnt steel the work of Mr. Walter Dean Myers and make him angry, considering how he might feel if someone did that to him.

Because in the beginning of the book he didn't get the point of writing them and why you have to explain what you think about poems. This word choice is confusing because it says "before they sleep." And the kids are playing in the streets. I see it as meaning they are playing at night or at least evening. This adds to the story overall because; 1) it may foreshadow Jack's poem about Sky dying by getting ran over and, 2) it may show Jack's personality as reckless.

"Yes // you can type up // what I wrote // about my yellow dog // but leave off the part // about the other dogs // getting killed dead // because that's too sad __ And don't put // my name // on it // please __ And maybe // it would look good // on yellow paper __ And maybe // the title // should be // YOU COME TOO" (Creech 28 - 29).

This evidence caught my attention because in the begining of the story, Jack did not want anyone to see the poems he wrote. He thought that only girls write poems and he wasn't so confident about how his poems were. Instead of feeling proud about his work and creativity, he hides it from people and never wanted anyone to see his poems. Later in the story, Jack felt more self-confident and wants people to see his work. Although he doesn't want his name to be on it, he wants his work to be displayed and he wants his work to be shown in the best way possible. This shows that throughout the book, his attitude about his poems and his talents has changed because he used to think he was bad at poetry but now his is more brave to express his creative side.

But really hes yellow because they never colored him in any color. So the passage really stood out to mean because there's a good meaning behind it.

He is proud of his work because he is willing to have it put on the board to show a class, but not proud enough to let anyone know he wrote the poems. He is starting to enjoy writing poems more, but he might still be embarrassed of his poems. I hope by the end of the book he is not embarrassed of his poems, and willing to let the teacher write them on the board.
