You don't need a specific requirement to get in to the Electronics course other than the college requirement that is 5 GCSEs that include a language but a GCSE in Electronics and/or a GCSE in Maths would help you advance and get a very good grade in A-Level and therefore help you get into the University of your choice.

First year

Unit 1: This will focus on how digital systems work, as well as investigating operational amplifiers. You will learn to design and utilise both of these things.

Unit 2: This will enable you to design and build basic power supplies, simple transistor amplifiers, timing circuits and sensors.

Unit 3: This involves a programmable control systems project. You will learn to utilise assembly language programming using a PIC microcontroller.

Second year

Unit 4: This examines electronic communications systems. You will learn about topics including filters, modulation and pulse code.

Unit 5: In this unit you will study electronic systems applications. This will involve looking at counting systems, microcontroller systems and audio systems, among others.

Unit 6: This consists of an electronic design project, in which you will complete an extended piece of work.

Exams

There are four exams to do in your two year on the course, two in the first year and two in the second year. This doesn't include the mock exams that are spread across the years.
