This is a picture of the veil of the Virgin Mary at the Cathedral at Chartres. The Cathedral could be considered a very sacred place by anyone who visits it because the veil is said to have belonged to the Virgin Mary and may also touched Jesus Christ, making it a double relic. Since most people visiting the church are either Christian or Catholic, this could bring up a lot of emotions.

The Ganges River is the most sacred place in Hindu tradition. It is understood as the personification of the Goddess Ganga. It is believed to be a purifier of both body and soul, offering salvation to those who come into contact with its waters. Life is incomplete without bathing in the Ganga at least once in their lifetime.

It is considered sacred/holy because it is a religious site dedicated to the sun. This tells us the beliefs of the Incas during the 15th Century, which was centered around nature and what predates them. This site is very secluded and isolated due to its height, which further shows holiness.

This relates to Felix's Stone Henge analysis, where both sites worship something in nature.

We chose the Meteora Monastery and its surrounding nature as a sacred place. One thing that we find makes it sacred and holy is it takes advantage of the natural surroundings that are considered sacred to build a sacred space of worship. Some natural features that help in this are the height of the mountains, possibly symbolizing the human need for proximity to God. Another thing that really helps make this space sacred is the balance between the human made monastery and the intense nature. Similarly, the loyalty and dedication of the people to build this monument in such a remote area highlights the significance of the sacred role the church and nature play in peoples lives.
