His focus on painting is with nature, ever since a boy, fascinated by it, and remains that day today. He attended Victoria College in the University of Toronto for geography and afterward the Ontario College of Education. Robert then traveled the world for 14 months, then eventually became a teacher for art and geography. Robert was never recognised for his work until the 1970s and 80s. He accomplished many amazing achievements like, in 1987 Robert drew the largest crowd for a living artist during his show in DC. He also holds the honour of having, not one, not two, but three Canadian schools named after him. Signed limited edition prints were then made of Robert's paintings and he ended up raising millions of dollars for environmental causes.

The Lenca people are Indigenous people to Southwestern Honduras and eastern El Salvador. In 1993, Cáceres founded the National Council of Popular and Indigenous Organizations of Honduras (COPINH) to raise awareness and fight for Lenca rights. The issues she wanted to solve included illegal logging, territorial rights, and improved life for these people. She fought against the government and industries, leading protests and assemblies for proper rights. Her campaigns drew attention from the Inter-American Human Rights Commission, but that did not change the minds of the National Government and local politicians. Her fight for the environmental and indigenous rights in Honduras, especially with her work in the Gualcarque River and the surrounding dams, has inspired many people to continue her work. Cáceres studied Education and graduated university with a teaching qualification. She worked in Honduras as a midwife, activist and teacher. Her most well-known project would also prove to be her most dangerous one. The Agua Zarca dam had been proposed and approved to be built on the Gualcarque River, which was a spiritual place for the Lenca people, and was also a vital source of food and water for them. By protesting against this build, alongside other activists and Lenca people, they prevented the dam from being built. Soon after the dam was stopped, Cáceres began receiving death threats, until in 2016 she was murdered. Honduras is the most dangerous place in the world for environmental activists, as 120 have been murdered since 2010, including Berta Cáceres. For her essential part in Lenca and Environmental rights, Cáceres received many awards.
