- Overall positive sentiments towards greener approach
- Rebates to offset higher utility bills not much help; rise in rates seem to be higher than rebates
- Suggestion to build greener buildings (etc sheltered walkways so that it incentivises citizens to walk instead for talking public transport)
- Continuous public education and awareness
- EV charging points: Very limited. Given it’s so inconvenient, discouraging to change. Should not be limited to private transport, but also public transport (e.g. buses).
- Suggest to drive more awareness on why adoption is beneficial for us as end users (monetary and non-monetary wise)
- Suggest to target more education and awareness at a younger age. Laying foundation of green habits in schools, easier to make it as a habit in early age rather than at the later age.
- Leverage media, targeting different age groups, to educate the general public

- Increase in carbon taxes may trickle down to end users so this needs to be considered
- Job security for citizens will help to soften the impact of all these changes (if I have job security, business continuity, I will be less concerned with these changes)
- Further incentives for adoption of greener measures, both in the space of business owners and households in addition to general incentives. Double benefits for committed “green users”
- On disbursement/ support of funds, suggest to
implement that these are only paid out / payable only when green measures are taken up / adopted
- Lower income group will definitely need help. But also suggest to explore more government help for the middle income families as they are usually in the spot of “neither here nor there”. These groups are always stuck in between.

- Specific to EV charging, social impact has to be considered in depth. Example, with the increase of EVs and insufficient charging points, EVs may be parked there for long periods hindering other users to charge
- Policies may need to be put in place to minimise social issues that may arise due to utilisation of charging points

In 2015, the Paris Climate Agreement sets out a global framework to avoid dangerous climate change by limiting global warming to well below 2°C and pursuing efforts to limit it to 1.5°C.

1. For households, the higher carbon tax will be felt mainly through an increase in utility bills. At $25 per tonne, this would translate to an increase of about $4 per month in the utility bills for an average 4-room HDB household. From 2024, businesses will be allowed to use high-quality, international carbon credits to offset up to 5% of their taxable emissions, in lieu of paying carbon tax.

2. Carbon tax will be raised to $25 per tonne in 2024 and 2025, and $45 per tonne in 2026 and 2027, with a view to reaching $50 to $80 per tonne by 2030. This will help change the behaviours pf tax payers. Only impacts a small number of large carbon emitters. However, carbon taxes are often passed onto consumers through increasing commodity prices such as electricity, fuel and transport.

3. The SG green plan will create millions of Green jobs for the future and demand for talent with green skills will increase.
One aspect to focus is also the transport. Singapore aim to be a car-lite city, supported by a comprehensive public transport network, which is the cleanest and most energy-efficient mode of transport. The government also wants to maintain our policy of zero growth rate for private vehicles – we are perhaps the only city in the world which has taken this bold step. And with this momentum, this will further accelerate EV adoption by building more charging points closer to where we live. Hence though future car driving aspirators will be disappointed with this but somw sacrifices will have to be made to make SG a greener state. We agree!
