Students used their notes from a water cycle lab to produce a Clips recording stating their claim, evidence and reasoning directly from Stemscopes assignment..
Well: students were very engaged and enjoyed this.
Work on: Clips tended to be a bit glitchy with speech to text

After completing a lab, and taking pictures of the process students used C-E-R frames to create Puppet Edu and Clips to support the Claim that The Sun's Energy is what drives the Water Cycle. I gave my students a script with frames to fill in and I feel like it was too long. I need to make any frames more succinct.

1. Nissa found a great Webquest that broke down the format of CER (pasted below). We just started it.
2. CER Webquest attached below
3. It was helpful to explicitly share with them HOW to argue in science class. It has been helpful so that they feel equipped to know a framework of how to argue and what I'm looking for
4. I find that I spend a lot of time on the lab but quickly go over the evidence and what it proved. I want to scaffold this better and make more time.
PLZ DON'T USE IF NOT IN 8th

Students were engaged in the stations and the homework was very easy to complete.
4. I would like to improve on being more consistent on using CER in my classroom.

This is a CER frame students used when preparing for a Socratic seminar about which social/environmental issue is the most important in our current society. I think it was very useful for students to have one strong statement prepared for the seminar, so that everyone felt comfortable sharing. Next time, I would add a frame for a rebuttal, in order to better prepare students for counter arguments.
