It is interesting that a school that was the pinnacle of segregation in Alabama goes back to before segregation. However, the football program does not let it effect their program. The football coach is making a difference in his students/players and the school as a whole. What it boils down to is what you have in the school that can make a difference in a student's life. 1. unique program - leveled book readings with CCSS, lesson plans, suggested activities, monthly themes and various subject areas
2. news to you - this consists current events
3. symbolstix - this can assist you in making pictures with labels

I have used these with my CELDT 1 and 2 students and they have accommodations (e.g. graphic organizers and communication boards with pictures + labels pre-made) which I think could also support you.
