Oscar Schindler is a hero because he used all of his money to buy his own factory and bought a lot of Jews to work and survive. At the end of WW2, the Schindler Jews were now free by the Allies. However after the end of WW2 Oscar Schindler was now bankrupt and failed several businesses after the war. In 1958, Israel declared Oscar Schindler a righteous man and was planted as a tree to honor him.
