Some students are interested and ask questions about careers related to astronomy. In Portugal it is quite difficult to get into the Aerospace Engineering course because it is the course where only the students with the highest grades enter. It may be the most desirable course at this time, but few can dream of it.

An aeronautics career for me sounds very nice. For students, it sounds like a far away dream. Our students are in an economics high school, but the math and science team has led many students to study polytechnics, construction, mathematics or physics. Perhaps one of them will be a passionate astronaut in the future. But, certainly, one of our students makes remarkably beautiful presentations about cosmic space and wishes a career in this field of promoting science in general, astronomy in particular.

Depending on the age of the students, they can be more or less interested in Astronomy. Students from 14-16 years old usually start being interested in several types of studies related to Astronomy, such as Engeniering, Cosmology, etc.

Children occasionally talk about what they want to do when their are adults. In my experience there's always someone who want to become astrounat. Also ther's someone who want to become engineer, espacially if he has a parent who does it for work. But never I find a child who talk to want become aerospace engineer. I think is still too little known profession.

Yeah they ask me every kind of questions about space, in lesson breaks we are like Socrates and his students. They catch me every break and I spend my breaks in school’s laboratory with my students. In Turkey, there is STEM trend and our curriculum is becoming more engineering centered. My students consider engineering being a job that is part of the space industry because I do my lesson plans as design centered and based on STEM approach because of changes in our curriculum. In this kind of lessons they ask me “Are we studying like engineers?”
