There are environmental factors involved with the activity, such as erosion of cycle paths and the area cycling in, and pollution through the transport of getting to the facility. There are set paths displayed for when mountain biking, however not everybody sticks to them. This will result in erosion of unsuitable paths, and destroying vegetation and animals’ habitats. Also, it’s very possible that by sticking to the cycle path you cause erosion, due to the repetitiveness of using one path. When this happens the staff will have to close the path for reconstruction, or create a new path. My second environmental factor is the pollution caused by getting to the facility with the transport you use. There are many ways to avoid these two factors such as; keeping trails away from rare and sensitive plants to avoid destruction, keeping pathways narrow for minimal damage and having tires at a lower pressure to ensure less erosion. Avoiding pollution completely isn’t possible, however it can be minimised through using local facilities to carry out your activities, driving sensibly and using your own facilities if possible.
