U5 - Topic: The position of women in society has changed markedly in the last twenty years. Many of the problems young people now experience, such as juvenile delinquency, arise from the fact that many married women now work and are not at home to care for their children. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

Introduction: As family co-breadwinners, many mothers today are spending more time at work compared to mothers in the 1990s. This trend has allegedly contributed to the increase in delinquent behaviours among adolescents. I disagree that the increasing rate of juvenile delinquency is associated with less parenting involvement of working mothers, thus this issue should be considered from much broader aspects.
Topic sentence:
+ Agree: There are two reasons behind my advocacy that..../ I also believe that .... because of the following two reasons;
+ Disagree: There are two reasons behind my disagreement that..../ I strongly against the view that ... because of the following two reasons
======

As people live longer and the populations of developed countries grow older, several fiscal challenges can be anticipated. Firstly, the retirement of more working seniors, mainly from the baby-boom generation, will impose additional pressure on working adults. In other words, an ageing population will mean a greater tax burden for working-aged taxpayers to support the pension system since governments will receive less to none taxes from retired population. Another pressure includes the ever-growing expenditure for healthcare services for old patients. Although individuals tend to live longer lives, they usually suffer acute chronic conditions such as heart failure or diabetes, which increases the utilization of old age-related procedures and treatments that are pushing up costs of long-term care and healthcare expenditures in general. This means funding for improvement of education or environment has been channeled into age care field.

What is DISCUSSION ESSAYS?

Many essay titles require you to examine both sides of a situation and to conclude by saying which side you favour. These are known as discussion or for and against essays. In this sense, the academic meaning of the word discuss is similar to its everyday meaning, of two people talking about a topic from different sides. For a discussion essay, a balanced view is normally essential. This makes discussion essays distinct from persuasion essays, for which only one side of the argument is given. When writing a discussion essay, it is important to ensure that facts and opinions are clearly separated. Often you will examine what other people have already said on the same subject and include this information using paraphrasing and summarising skills, as well as correct citations.
================
