The reason why Jacob Umansky is an influence is because I listened to him extensively in high school, gradually learning more techniques on the bass guitar. Jacob later became my main inspiration for learning and playing bass guitar and the techniques I wanted to learn.

Rufus Mann

In high school Rufus Mann was one of the bass players that shaped my tone and playstyle because of his amazing playing. Rufus also produced the bass lines for the music he covered and then published these basss lines on patreon. This enabled me to learn more songs than by just listening to him and reading the tab litercher.

Marcus Miller

The reason why Marcus Miller is a influence for Jacob Umansky is because he was the "king" of the bass slapping technique. Another reason was Jacob always wanted weave in and out of the melody and rhythm of the song (American Musical Supply & Umansky, 2023), and Marcus does that in some of his songs. A song "Run For Cover" comes to mind.

Dingwall Guitars

When Jacob Umansky was in college, he had a friend that had a Dingwall Bass, which he let Jacob use for one of his bass covers. This later lead to Jacob purchasing a Dingwall bass (Dingwall Guitars & Umansky, 2021). This influence has forever changed his bass tone for the better in my opinion.

Jacob Umansky uses Darkglass Electronic's pedal for his distortion tone for his unique sound. The reason for this is Darkglass makes a pedal that creates because a unique sound from the distortion, he also splits the signal to make sure the low-end of the bass is intact. When Jacob records at home he uses "Neural DSP" Darkglass plugins and he also uses the microtubes amp head from Darkglass (American Musical Supply & Umansky, 2023).

The reason why Rufus Mann uses this Di / Preamp is because he was influenced by a number of bands that he liked. For example "Crown The Empire" (Mann, 2022).

Dingwall Guitars

The reason why Dingwall Guitars a infludence again, is because this Dingwall has become the standard for metal/rock basses. I have watched Rufus change multiple basses but the one bass he always maintained was Dingwall.

Rufus also orded a Dingwall bass with lower tunings which was based on the prototype for the ng2 (Mann, 2022).

This is because multiple famous basses players are using Dingwalls nowadays. Adam Nolly is one bass player that has influenced Rufus with his tone, which in my opinoin you can only get from Dingwall guitars.

The reason why Rufus uses this is because he predominately does everything in a digitial format, because he shares his Di bass tracks, tab material, EQ settings and isolated bass tracks (Mann, 2022). Another reason is because the SSL2 has two knobs for the volume like a mini mixer.
