Personal Review

I very much enjoyed this trip! Looking through old records was insightful and something I never knew I wanted to do; the food was great; the trip around the museum with the members of the jail was entertaining; and, I loved looking through the case of the corrupt husband and I feel like I developed some handwriting analysis skill throughout it all

Really interesting day out with the university family.

It was really interesting to see the books they used hundreds of years ago to record and how they dealt with crimes and punishment.

It was good to see the cells and everything underground, I’m glad it’s not like that now!

It was also good to go through a case study to see how they got all the information for cases back in the day, it was hard to pick things out especially when the handwriting was so different!

My FIS class visited the National Justice Museum yesterday, we viewed old police and prison records and received a tour of the prison cells and facilities, the court room and the execution room.

It was interesting to view how crimes were punished in the 18/1900s compared to today’s punishments of the same crimes. I enjoyed seeing the conditions of the prison cells that offenders would have to live and work in.

Now I’m going to research on the change in the punishments of crimes, why the attitudes to certain crimes became more lenient. I’m also going to further my knowledge on the change in prison conditions and aim of prisons.
