A good example is mclaren racing, a company that is good in Formula 1 competition. The company is divided into four groups:

·         conceive the car

·         engineer it

·         manufacture it

·         race it

there are lots of benefits to this type of group working. 

·         You can develop and deliver good products and services while maintaining quality. 

·         Groups enable organisations to learn, and to retain learning, more effectively. 

·         Cross-functional groups make improved quality management. 

·         Group-based organisation gets innovation because of the cross-fertilisation of ideas. 

·         Organisations with flat structures can be monitored, coordinated and directed more effectively if the functional unit is the group rather than the individual.
