Scout goes to school and get's insults from students about Atticus, her dad and Tom Robinson, a black man who he defends in court. Scout tries her best to keep calm as a student constantly attacks her with rude comments and inappropriate words.
This shows racial bias because everyone will attack people who support black people no matter what the situation is, no recorded harassment happened to the lawyer who defended the white people. The student seems to not be very educated on the situation and states his parents have commented on Atticus and the case.

" 'You can just take that back, boy!'
This order, given by me to Cecil Jacobs, was the beginning of a rather thin time for Jem and me. My fists were clenched and I was ready to let fly. Atticus had
promised me he would wear me out if he ever heard of me fighting any more; I
was far too old and too big for such childish things, and the sooner I learned to
hold in, the better off everybody would be. I soon forgot.
Cecil Jacobs made me forget. He had announced in the schoolyard the day before
that Scout Finch’s daddy defended niggers. I denied it, but told Jem.

In the book, Tom Robinson gets shot to death when he allegedly tries to run for his freedom. This represent police brutality in the modern world because black people tend to be treated harsher than white people like in the book. The law in the modern day allows police to feel more comfortable abusing a black person rather than a white person.
White people get away with crimes easier than black people do, this reflects the book because although all evidence proves Tom Robinson not guilty, his skin color held him back and the Ewells got away with false accusations.

Black Lives Matter is a movement created to help stop police brutality towards black people. This is the action the modern society has taken that the time period in the book wasn't able to achieve. Black Lives Matter is similar to relatives of Tom Robinson who came to Atticus's house and celebrated someone defending a black man. Both examples encourages and supports the black race.
