Sometimes the elections were a sham. Candidates would manipulate people by damaging the campaigns against the other candidates. Mussolini was also the newspaper editor so he was able to be in control of what was being said to the public. If there was something that he either did not agree with, or did not want the public knowing, he had the power to change it.

When he got there he demanded that the King hand over all power to Mussolini. The King agreed and gave power to the government to Mussolini. The king made him the 27th Prime minister of Italy. The Fascists were elected into the government and now Mussolini's party had full and total control over the government. This was a turning point because it was the moment that Mussolini officially had all the power in the Italian government and could have total control.

Mussolini would put all of the blame for the problems that Italy had on certain groups such as the Jews and different ethnic groups. His policies of discrimination caused multiple groups of people to be used as scapegoats and this would also influence other leaders such as Hitler to continue to treat these groups horribly in the future.
