Last year and this year I have been working at Center For Advanced Learning Charter School (CAL) in South Central LA. 

At CAL I work as a teacher aide. I have had the pleasure of working with kindergarten, 2nd grade, 3rd grade and 5th grade, but I have to admit I enjoy more working with 3rd grade. We had to decorate our classroom door with the help of our students. They had to use their knowledge of important people and events that have or had impacted black history. I had to do some research and then introduce the message of "I Know why the Caged Bird Sings" by Maya Angelou" and tie this concept to Black History month. I did mini lessons on the different people and events that build up to make Black History month.
