They had no problem retaining the information. It was both play and yet educational.  What seems to be the problem is we really don't  spend enough time on each subject for the students to get the full benefit of the lesson. I believe we need to relax and incorporate science into an exploratory subject that's not nailed down to a set of lesson sequence, but rather as the subject arise in other subjects.
