After escaping the hungries the few people try to find some order again.

I’m curious how the survivors will get the survival essentials: food, water, and shelter. Melanie won’t need any of those; this gives her an advantage in staying alive.

After the humvee breaks down they restrain and monitor Melanie while figuring out surviving until they get back to the base.

A media similar to this is The Last of Us. In both pieces of media there is an outbreak, both fungi in these cases, that turns people into mindless zombies. They both follow the characters as they try to survive the apocalyptic world.

The group travels and eventually finds shelter. While clearing out the shelter they get attacked by a hungry. They are okay and everything else goes smoothly. However they have a hard time sleeping due to fear and paranoia. Sergeant parks ostracizes Melanie to try and protect the group.

A theme song for this book is Aberration(Main Theme) by Gareth Coker. This is because it starts with intrigue and grows intense, and has this aura of something otherworldly throughout. It has no lyrics, but the swells and blends of the music communicate well.

The group gets scared many things: junkers, an open road, and a wrecked car.

The group travels into a hungry infested town and they have to move carefully as to not set any of them off.

I think an interesting plot twist would be if they find an adult hungry as fully conscious as the children. It would make an interesting find for a hungry adult with a modicum of intelligence much less a fully functioning one. It could lead the group to finding the nebulous cure that they have been trying to find.
