My monster is meant to protect me from right and wrong choices. I have learned from experience that there is always a voice in my mind telling me not to do something that I will regret and that is what my sculpture represents. My color palette for the future is golden brown and possibly black. The accessories that I am adding are black buttons for the eyes and a wooden stick to make it seem like the marshmallows are being roasted

The concept for my monster is for it to protect me from my fear of loneliness. For my future color scheme I want to use reds, oranges, and dark and light browns. The neutral colors can reflect some of the loneliness the monster is protecting me from, and the orange and red being the comfort and warmth.
Because my monster is 3d, it has form. For texture I carved into the arms and legs of the monster to make them more tree-like. For scale and proportion, I made the mushroom hat as big as it is to emphasize it and in turn it is being compared with the actual body of my monster.
I think my biggest strength for the criteria is in creativity and concept. I am very proud of the mushroom hat and the eyes in the concept. I also think that the monster gives off a creepy cute vibe that a monster who protects me from my fears should.
One thing I could have improved was my craftsmanship. I think some parts like the legs could have had a more seamless attachment. I also had trouble with keeping the claws on the feet due to their smaller size. They are still attached to the monster but I think I could have done better.

My Concept was a monster that protected me internally and externally. The flames represent my anger issues that I struggle with. The spikes protect me from failure. The heart protects me from rejection. The face I created on him keeps me from saying the wrong thing. The horns protect me from pain. The colors I picked for him is blue from the main body and the heart is red and his horns are yellowish tan colored and his flames are orange. I think the the blue and yellow are a good contrast and the main body is blue because sometimes even though I have my anger but I can feel sadder and hurt inside. The heart is red because there is still love out. I choose orange for the flames because it makes sense for it and it contrasts from blue. The spikes will be a darker blue because the protect me from failure and failure tends to make me sadder. I used texture on the horns and the spikes and flames are texture on him. I used scale and proportion with making his legs bigger and his arm small. I made his horns are bigger. I wanted his flames to be bigger to represent the anger I feel sometimes. I think my strength from the rubric was Design and Craftsmanship because my design is simple but expresses a lot of emotion. When I drew him I accidentally drew him like an angry toddler so that’s what he became because my friend that I looked like him sometimes. The craftsmanship on my monster was better than other pieces I’ve created. He came out very smooth and he’s features were nicely refined. I could have been more successful with the construction. His leg kept breaking off and his flames were very delicate and so were his spikes. His spikes are broken on some of them because it think it better represents protecting me from failure and is I was angry I’d probably be breaking things. But besides those few delicate parts and his leg, he came out pretty good.

My concept was a monster protecting me from overthinking, a monster to keep me in the present. I will paint him blues and purple to add to the idea of him being bright and distracting. I gave him, I feel sort of a soft reptilian texture. I gave him platypuss feet and a big tail in order to make him able to stand. He had pretty big eyes in proportion to the beak. I would say that the part of the rubric that is my strength is the design and construction, because he is very cute I think, and I like his different proportions to add to his overall self and he is staying together pretty well.I could be more successful with craftsmanship because their were definitely spots that didn't look 100% intentional.

My mood can change out of nowhere and there is a good and bad side to me. The color scheme I want to do is the nice side like a light blue because that's the mellow side of me and the other side would be red because that's the angry part of me.

how did you use texture, form, and scale/proportion?

I used texture to show the other side of the monster was different from the other. I used scale and proportion by making the mouth teeth and a horn on the angry side big where the other side has no horns and has a normal mouth.

which criteria off the rubric is your strength and why

I think I did good on scale and proportion because i got my point across that one side is normal and the other is evil and that they are not the same monster.

which criteria could be more successful and why

I think my form could have been worked on.

My concept for my piece was a monster that represented feeling overwhelmed around big groups of people and shyness around new people/people I don't know very well. I used the little monster hiding in the bigger monsters ear to represent this, which also sort of represents how I hid behind my mom as a child when meeting new people. For my color scheme I chose to make my main monster a teal blue color with accents of purple on the bumps, nose, mouth, and hearts on his feet. And for the little monster I plan on making him a light green with some neutral color horns (brown/beige), and darker green on his feet. I began choosing the colors for my main monster because I liked how they looked together and soon realized that they were very similar to Sulley from Monsters Inc. So I incorporated this into my concept and made the little monster green like Mike. It ties into my idea because Sulley and Mike are always sticking together, just how I feel more comfortable being around someone that I know. I used texture by adding bumps around the forehead leading slightly down his back, form because it is a 3D figure, and scale/proportion by contrasting the size of the little monster compared to the big monster. I think my strength for this piece was my design+creativity because I really like the way I chose to interpret my "fear" by adding another smaller monster, as well as the color scheme I chose to fit my concept. Something I feel like I could have been more successful on was my construction because the ears and legs are at slightly different angles, and through the process of attaching my ears, I must have made one a little smaller because my mini monster doesn't lay flat inside, however it does fit fine in the other ear.

On top of it horn and in the back, I carve the Celtic symbol to stand for happiness. I used texture by using lines that come from different direction to illustrate the pain and roughness I go through. I use a sphere type solid as form and a bigger heart as horn and a smaller heart as the nose to emphasize the horn and made it the focal point when looking at my monster. The craft man ship is my strength because i connect the part and build it pretty well, no cracking or falling apart. The criteria I could be more successful is the finishing, it wasn't that smooth and wasn't that even.

Our concept was a ballerina who was determined to complete her jump and the accessory was the skirt because of the ballerina. We wanted to make it more elegant so it seemed she knew what she was doing. Movement was easy because we made it seem as though she was in the air completing a jump. Line we structured it off of a real pose so the limbs correspond with the way the lines traced the body. We emphasized her body position and the accessories to make them focal point in the piece. I think that construction ans the finishing of the proudest was what we excelled at. And the thing that got away from us was concept because the final doesn't really portraiy the main emotion.

Our concept was for a ballerina and our mood to be determined. We wanted her to be jumping in mid-air for a pose. To make it more clear that she was a ballerina, we added a flowy skirt. To make the skirt feel more complete we added a flower. The emphasis portion of the figure is the skirt. It stands out due to the color. The movement part of the piece is how the arms are positioned, and that moves your eyes through the piece. The line portion is how we can see the outline of the ballerina and the flower. I think the strength for this project is the construction, it has held together well and many areas are pretty seamlessly connected. I would say our weakness is craftsmanship, many things were not as refined as they could have been, like the legs or torso.

Our concept was the mood amused, and our accessory was a snow globe with a hot air balloon scenery inside. The two ideas connect because our person is amused at the snow globe and what´s going on inside of it. This can be seen by the way they are looking down into their hands. We used line throughout the body parts (can be seen through the outline of the person), emphasis on the globe; specifically the hot air balloon because it is colorful/stands out, and movement with the way the person is looking down at their hands. I think our strength for this project was design because of the way we decided to use different materials for the inside of globe to make it contrast from the figure, while still using the techniques of tape for the actual globe. I think something we could have improved on was our craftsmanship because some areas of the tape are not completely flat, and not all the body parts matched up perfectly so we had to slightly adjust with tape.

Are concept was amused and the object we used was a snow globe that has a hot air balloon in it so that the person is vary amused by it. For line it shows the shape of the body and that the head is looking down at the globe. For movement the hands direct you to the globe which makes you look back to the hands then back to the globe. For emphasis we put the focal point on the globe and we did this by making the head look at the snow globe and the globe has something in side of it which is different then the whole piece.I would say that construction is my strength because i really understood how it had to be put together and we built a relay study moody figures. I would say we could have done better in craftsmanship just because the head wasn't centered.

Our concept was stressed from homework. We did the pose as they are drowning from the amount of work and stress there is. The papers are our concept and it’s a representation of the mounds of homework we have. We used line by the shape of the tape figure. The emphasis is the head and how that’s what you see first and you look at that first to understand the figure. We used movement from the papers and hitting the figure and making them falling and their sinking under all the weight. It started from the ceiling and moving down. Creativity and concept was our strength in my opinion. It was a good concept and the idea fits with day to day life of a high school student. I think we could have been more successful on the craftsmanship. Between people being gone and running out of tape. Some parts were weaker and it needed a lot of repairs.

Showing how she amused of the snow-globe. We use line in the hand legs and body, to match with each other and emphasis the snow-globe on her hand with colorful hot air balloon in the snow-globe. We create our person to have her hand together, holding a snow-globe while standing is our movement. The craftsmanship is our strength because our figure is very sturdy and nothing fell off or break as we touch it. We could be better at finishing because if look close out figure have some dust suck in the tape during our building process.

Our concept was the sculpture drowning under the stress of homework. The papers were our accessory to show you what. causes the stress. We showed lines by pointing all the extremities upwards showing the sculpture trying to catch itself before falling. The emphasis was on the paper by them being heavy on the sculpture downward to farther depths the movement was shown by the sculpture looking like it was trying to hold on and not fall. One thing I think we could have done better was structure and form. The structure in the back was thin and flimsy and made it look deformed and the form was not proportionate making it look like a midget. With all that though I think our concept was very strong and we emphasized it well .

When you first observe my sculpture you see a turtle with two naked babies on its back and across from it a flower. At closer observation you can see the turtle's head being dragged down by plastic, many turtles in our oceans struggle under the strain of our plastic filled oceans. The eyes of the turtle are looking up at the flower ahead which is made of reusable bag material in hopes for a more sustainable reusable future to help turtles overcome the struggle of plastic in our oceans. The babies on the back represent the newer generations leading the charge of our improved future to save our planet. I used recycled objects to give my sculpture the shape of a turtle with the neck being replaced by plastic. The glass bowl gives the shape of a head while the upside down plate represents the shell with four flipper-like corks underneath. The flower has a hard metal core and pedal shaped fabric around it. For the color of the turtle, he has a brown shell and flippers. His head is filled with green blocks to make him look green, with different shades of green yarn used throughout the rest of the build. The different greens contrast the body from the "rope" around the turtle. The plastic bags and straws are all different colors to represent the mass of the problem and how its not just one source. The blue baby shows diversity in the generation. The yellow flower represents life. The strength of my project is probably my design because I really like how my turtle looks and what everything represents. He looks like a turtle at first glance and can easily look closer to see the greater detail in him. My weakness would probably be construction because their are some weak spots around the head that are not the most stable and the yarn the babies are holding don't look as much like reigns as I wanted.

The concept was a dragon and to sum up the story it was a dragon born out of my own will to escape reality. s/he was made out of books and you would be able to choose a story and live in that story and change that story according to how you want to live it. when you are satisfied you are able to stay in a specific story until you die and the dragon moves on to the next person in desperate need to escape. Using shape I literally incorporated different shapes to form the body of a dragon. I used unity by staying simple in the design but also combining the plainness of just paper with pops of color. while using contrast was in the different shapes to create certain forms in the body. The strongest criteria would be craftsmanship because the paper mache on the cubes is gods work. Construction could be improved because the pieces could be glued together better.

The story of my character that he was a stray dog and they always left him out because he wasn’t the same as all other dogs. He had two mismatched ears. But one day a family finds him and takes him but only to find out they are royalty. So the kids in the family have him a little crown and a little staff and he was finally in a home he loved and treat like he should be. I used shape by using a bottle it give the dog a unique shape. I used unity was the legs and the eyes they were both the same on each side of the bottle. I think contrast was the two different sized ears and the gold crown on top with gold staff it gives it a good contrast from the green bottle. I think my strength was my creativity and concept because it’s a good idea and in another from of media it’s could be a lot better. I think I could have done better on my construction. It was a lot hard to build this than I thought he fell apart a few times and it was difficult to find the right material to make all the parts stick.

My characters name is Walter. An overview of the story behind him is that he comes from this place where characters are randomly built from all sorts of different pieces, and then they each get one special piece added to them that gives them some sort of a power. Walter´s power is the power to bake which is shown through his tray of pastries, the clock on his stomach, and the light bulb in his hat. He himself serves as the oven he can bake in. For shape I would say I used lots of circles like the bolts, circle in the middle of the clock, the tray, the hat, and sort of through the face. I used unity by making the hands move towards the center on the tray, as well as lining up all the baking components in the middle (tray, clock, and light bulb). I used contrast by using some silver pieces and some more brassy and brown pieces. I think my strength on this piece was my creativity/concept because I think I did a good job with using multiple pieces and putting them together to make a character. Something I think I could have done better on was design because I had to change a few of my ideas to make the figure more sturdy like the neck (holding weight of head), and making the legs sitting rather than standing.

The problem is now she is very thirsty, but she has no clue where to find water. So she climbs down and walks to hopefully find it. She walk for 2hrs and its getting dark, she is getting very tired and dehydrated. She decided to give up and rest. But while she is sleeping, a fairy came and gave her a stick, that stick can give her the ability to fly and give her direction. She woke up and saw the stick but don't know what it is for. The abstraction that I picked that imitationalist because you can tell what it is, it still had its raw natural form but just built in a different way. My dominant principle of design is movement because of the how it starts at the bottom and your eyes move up the piece. I think my strength is design and concept and craftsmanship because my concept was good and I think I executed the folding of the butterflies really well. I think I could have done better is putting the butterflies in a different way so it look more like a traditional rainbow. I used 200 folds instead of 100 accidentally.

My concept for this piece was originally a bowl of fruit but then I changed it to a bowl of strawberries because other fruits were too hard to make. I used around 440 triangular folds to make the bowl and then filled it with 20 origami strawberries. I chose to use formalist and imitationalist abstraction because the fruit is imitating strawberries and the triangular folds take form of a bowl. My dominant principle of design was contrast. I used contrast by making the bowl a neutral brown and making the strawberries bright pink and red to stand out. Also the bowl has more texture to it as oppose to the strawberries that are more flat/smooth. I think I did well on design because I like how the overall finished product came out and how the colors work well together. Something I think I could improve on is craftsmanship because since I did the folds really fast, some of them have a little paper sticking out.

The concept for my sculpture was to have a cherry blossom branch with some blossoms on the ground and in the middle of falling. With the beads I wanted to emulate the inside of a blossom, and for the colors I wanted to choose realistic colors and some that are used in cherry blossom art. The type of abstraction my sculpture has is imitationalism. This is because my project uses different shapes to convey that there is a branch with flowers on it, just in a heavily simplified form. The dominant principle of design is rhythm, but there is also unity in my piece. The cherry blossom is everywhere in this piece, and they are all arranged in a different way with two different sizes. There are also repeating colors (white, shades of pink). The strength in my project was construction, the flowers and branches stayed together very well while I was moving it in a tight space. My weakness is craftsmanship. I struggled a lot with the gluing and folding of this project, so a lot of the things in my sculpture could have been more refined. I used the beads to find the flowers with ugly middle sections, and it kinda worked. But there are still the issues with left over glue stuck on the paper.

my concept was stories forming who we are and growing us as people. i was originally going to make it out of book pages but I didn't have the time. the abstraction I did was immitationalist because the flowers are placed and held in the shape of a crown and once again I was going to use book paper but that kind of time was unachievable. my dominant principle of design was creativity and concept.i think I did well with my concept however my construction was a bit flawed.

Emma Vergo- Snowflake Mobile

My concept was to create a sort of hanging mobile out of paper snowflakes and chains, I also used metal in the stop part to help support the weight, and string to hang things down from each branch of the snowflake. The abstraction used in this piece could be surreal. The project takes the shape of a hanging mobile which you would find in man made structures. My dominant principle of design is definitely size and proportion because in the big snowflake there are three smaller branches in between the bigger ones. All of the snowflakes are created out of different sized branches together I decided to make this part of my design, not only because its hard to fold perfectly sized branches but because you wouldn't find perfect or similar snowflakes in real life. Starting out this project, I had confidence in my ability to craft and construct my project and I wasn't so happy with the design, but I missed the first two days and just had to get started on it. As my creativity flowed throughout this project and my design began to adapt, I started to like it more and more. So I definitely would say my dominant principle was the concept and design of this project. As I was making these I realized that folding a bunch of snowflakes is really hard and while I am happy with the craftsmanship of each branch, the construction of the over all design was not as great as I was hoping for. It was not ideal that I had to include the metal bar in a rush to keep it from falling apart, and I wish the strings were more even around the design.

My concept was to make a wall of roses and i used descriptive abstraction. My dominant principal of design was shape because after learning the roses I started to create them very well. My strength was creativity and concept because when I went into this I wasn't 100% sure what I wanted to do but as i was making it I realized how i wanted it to turn out and it did exactly how I wanted it too. Finishing could have been more success full because all the leaf bases were different lengths so they couldn't glue together symmetrically.

If you looked at my work its obvious that there are butterflies on flowers in a garden but maybe some people wouldn't know so thats what it is.
what was your dominant principle of design and how was it used? i would say my dominant principal of design would be all the different colored butterflies it brings the piece together
which criteria off the rubric is your strength and why making each one it takes a lot of time but it also calms you down
which criteria could be more successful and why? I would say the time management because i got this done almost right as it was due so in the future i will make sure to use my time management effectively

My Concept was butterflies and that one of those butterflies would be colorful and change the other butterflies around it. For this project I used organic abstraction. And my dominant principal of design was emphasis because of the 1 changed butterfly. My strongest criteria was concept as well as finishing because I feel both were great to see and hear. Finally I could have colored more butterflies to further incorporate my concept.
