Hosted by Ramtin Arablouei and Rund Abdelfatah. Their tagline is "Where we go back in time to understand the present," and that really sums it up quite nicely. It's a weekly podcast of about 45-60 minutes for each episode.

I love this podcast so much. It does a great job with finding relevant moments in history to present day and walks through their connections. With my classes, I always try to teach them the cycles and repetitions we can find in history- racism and dehumanizing of people being a big one. This podcast is best for you as a learner, not necessarily for your class consumption.

An example would be their Planned Obsolescence episode which was so awesome and tied in with some of what we were learning in 4th/5th grade about 2 years ago- I was teaching a combo and can't recall with which grade it better aligned, but we had a discussion about what I learned. I wanted to play it for them, so I played a small clip.

I later spent more time with an SS lesson during initial lockdown instruction in spring of 2020. I clipped and edited part of their "Conspiracy Theories" podcast and added non-copyrighted images for my students to listen to and then give a response. I used the first third which focused on how conspiracy theories helped kick off the American Revolutionary War. The content could be a bit much for fifth graders, but it was something that could give a push for my higher level thinkers and was still accessible for my learners who sometimes struggle with the bigger concepts (did it again this year). The rest of that particular episode is awesome, but it mentions some content that is not appropriate for the classroom- especially an elementary school classroom. Direct link to the podcast I used and edited is here: https://www.npr.org/2019/11/27/783307805/american-shadows
If interested, the link to where I shared my edited version on youtube with my class is here: https://youtu.be/een2IiJ8W_U

(Submitted by Amy Ellison from Cohort 2; posted both here and in my cohort as I wasn't sure where to put this)
