Hemp is a natural plant fiber. It comes from the steam of the plant. This plant would be considered a low impact material due to its sustainable fibers. The only factors that could make this material harmful to the enviornment would be the process of bleaching or chemical retting which is not the natural use for this plant.

Hemp is primarily made up of Cellulose, Hemicellulose, Lignin, and Pectin. With these compositions assisting in the creation of Hemp, this material can be used for clothing items, or blended with other fibers like cotton. This plant is the same species as cannabis but is a bit different due to low levels of THC.

Hemp fabric is created by a four step process. Harvest the plant, break it down, extract fibers, then spin into yarn to create textiles. When broken down properly without use of harsh chemicals, this fiber can last for 20-30 years.
