What did you learn by creating this artwork (composition, materials, technique, meaning, etc.) that you can apply to future work?
- I learned to "roll with the punches." I went into this project totally excited. I practiced for probably more time than I should have because I knew this was my last watercolor in school, and I wanted to make it memorable.  While I was practicing, I was trying to almost 'tie dye' the backdrop and fish with a large water bubble on the paper. (I hope that makes sense!) After struggling with that. I tried painting with a larger brush and more water focusing on the backdrop,  which was very different for me, because I liked to paint with a 70-30 ratio of paint to water, which I really tried to stay away from this project. I changed many things last minute, which didn't turn out all that bad. (I think I need to start painting more with my heart than my head!  ) I really enjoyed furthering my knowledge of water color and learning other ways I can alter the image!  I am 99.9% sure I will be buying some of my own watercolor this summer, (because I don't think I can touch my grandfather's!! hehe :) ) and I definitely want to keep pursuing and growing my knowledge and passion of watercolor, strengthening my skill and my bond with my grandfather.
