Dream: Motivational Video

If our profession of teaching needs anything, it needs hope. Hope can be a fleeting idea to many, but not when you believe. This video captures the idea of perseverance and dedication to your dreams. If you do not have goals, you are not improving your life. I teach in an urban school where my students struggle more than I will ever know. This is a concept that I always tell them: Invest in Yourself! When you invest in yourself, you are giving yourself the only gift that cannot be taken away. When life is hard, you push through following your dreams. It is up to you how you live your life. Will you live your life filled with regrets or will you take those steps to becoming the best version of yourself. How do you! define your value?

Love the message of this video! We all need to believe in the beauty of our dreams - despite the hard work it takes to achieve them! I find that many people/students have a very hard time when faced with a challenge. I continually try to push myself, my students, and my own kids to do things that are truly hard. It is the only way we learn to grow - and hopefully reach our dreams!

Great Video! I believe it is essential to teach our students to "push through" the challenges life will throw at them. Like the video said, we will face lot of disappointment, but we need to hold our head up high and persevere.

It is so important that students and teachers alike realize that hard things can also be good things. Struggle is a beautiful thing. Dean Karnazes, an ultra runner, says, "Struggling and suffering are the essence of a life worth living. If you're not pushing yourself beyond the comfort zone, if you're not demanding more from yourself - expanding and learning as you go - you're choosing a numb existence. You're denying yourself an extraordinary trip." I thought of that quote as soon as I saw this video. The best way to become better people is to struggle.

We all too often follow others and look to others for guidance when we need to be following our own dreams. "Invest in yourself" is a message I would also love to share with my students.

What a powerful message for everyone to hear and act upon!

One quote which stuck with me was, "Someone's opinion of you does not have to become your reality." It's a great reminder change starts within ourselves. And so, it's important to form good opinions of ourselves in order to achieve our dreams someday. Yes, we want to make good impressions and make important people in our lives proud, but it's not up to those people to define us, to define our goals, and to define our futures... It's only up to us and it starts by us first "investing" in ourselves.

Thanks for sharing!

Great video:) I think that this is very closely related to the growth mindset philosophy that my school district is really emphasizing; to power through failures and learn from them. It also supports the fact that we as teachers need to celebrate students' accomplishments and effort, and that the sky is the limit for these children.

As Scott mentioned, I too immediately thought of Growth Mindset. My first grade class and I have done a lot this year with persevering when things get difficult or when we experience a set back. One quote that stuck out to me was when he said "Rough times are going to come but they have not come to stay. They have come to pass." How powerful is this! Some days I get so bogged down with all that I have to do and overwhelming things can be at times, but it is important to remember that the bad times don't hang around forever. Thanks for sharing this!
