This technique demonstrates the essential question about beliefs as she is questioning her belief in God because Anoosh has been executed.  She wonders where God was in all of this turmoil; thus, she is shouting at him to get out of her life. She is conflicted about her beliefs and the death is influencing her conflict with God.
Graphic Novel Elements: In this picture, the Speech Bubble shape is being used to show the extent of Marjane's anger as she is shouting at God.  Her dialogue has an angry tone, and having the speech bubble be jagged emphasizes her shouting tone.  Her trust has turned to anger, and this is conveyed in the jagged, shouting shape of the Speech Bubble.

The fourth question asks how we form our beliefs and what influences them and in the panel I chose it Marjane is in gods arms and he explains how he chose her. You can tell that all of this is either a in her dreams because it's always at night when she talks to god, and the religion influence is very strong in those countries. Also for her being young she is easily influenced by her parents beliefs.

The one I chose was how big god was to all the rest of the characters in the book. They made God bigger to show how big of a piece he is in Marjanes life. Our childhood can be altered by many factories during our young lives that will be carried out into adulthood. For example, a lot of what our parents believe and really affects our thoughts towards others and other things in the world just by what they have taught us or what we have heard them say. Like in the picture I chose, Marjane reads a bunch of books because she doesn't get the jokes her parents are making about the demonstration, in reading all those books and learning a lot translated into when she grew up, she knew more than other kids about the politics and the revolution.

In the panel I chose her face shows how concentrated she is on reading the books all in that one night. Her facial expression shows a lot to the reader on how she's feeling in the present moment, like with her eyes just being dots and having the line over them shows she's looking at the book and is having more of a concentrated look towards it.

A person can deal with a conflict in the world in many ways with in themselves and with others. In the box I chose the family is laughing at a demonstration of people saying a man, that died from cancer, died because of the king, but once they figure out that he died from cancer they still believe he is a hero. Them even the widow of the man joins the demonstration, and the whole family has a good laugh about it. So in their conflicted the world, the family copes with this by laughing about the little things in their own home with each other and enjoying a little silly things like that, even if they're about murder and cancer.

The graphic element of the text boxes shows a lot of how the family is feeling, mostly because in the frame every single person has a text box and expressing how they feel about the situation. This technique shows the essential question about balancing the demands of society with one's own belief because Marjane is questioning how she feels about being forced to wear the veil. In the panel she is saying how she is very religious but her family is also avant-garde so she doesn't really know what to think of the veil and she's kind of torn. 

The author uses shading and coloring by essentially splitting the panel in half, on either side of Marjane, one side is mainly white with some black, where the other other side is mainly black with some white. The essential question about beliefs is portrayed in this panel because Marjane is telling us what she wanted to be and is directly relating herself to god. She is talking about what she looks up to and what she believes in because she wanted to be the embodiment of that. 

The author uses her hands to portray what she wanted to be and what she believed in. For justice, she is holding a balance in her hand. For love, she's making a peace sign with her hands to indicate love. And for the wrath of god, she is holding weapons. Putting these all together in one panel makes for an easy visual of what she believes in and what she wanted to be.

In this frame when the speech bubble says we are at war it demonstrates it in a calm manner but is is small enough that is also shows worrying. The speech bubble of them saying what!? This panel represents how it is hard to make survive and make sense of a Revolution. The text boxes show that Marjane's family made sense of how it soon was going to be impossible to go on vacation because they wouldn't be so free anymore. Their solution to survive in a Revolution was just to leave the country for a few weeks and stay away from the entire Revolution in general.

The author uses this one panel over an entire page to emphasize the importance of Marjane and her family's solution to surviving in the Revolution.
