The genre and age range

This type of music is alternative/indie rock which has a very varied but quite niche market, the brand identity people who would listen to this type of music would almost defiantly go to watch live music and performances because they are usually very passionate about their music.

This brand of music reaches out to people of all ages really but in this day and age it would probably be more along the lines of 25-50 years old, this is because teenagers these days enjoy more pop and dance music because of the massive change in music culture.

The verve understand that their audience isn't going to be in the category of 16-24 so they don't try and change their music for that they just stay with the same stuff that they enjoy playing.

The brand of the verve is a very strong and powerful brand which shows the audience exactly what they are and who they are just through their pictures and the way that most of their music videos are quite plain and don't have a strong storyline or a narrative. They are just simply about Rick Ashcroft singing and experiencing life, which is shown through the original bittersweet symphony where its just him walking down a road in a straight line.

The lead singer Ashcroft is not like most normal artists he has constructed his identity through his music and the way he dresses. He wears very typical clothes of a rock artist like the leather jackets, hats, baggy jeans and so on. Through this people who listen to the Verve will perhaps therefore dress in similar ways and try to copy what the members of the band are wearing which is conforming to the brand identity that the verve are giving off.

You can also tell that my brand is my own by looking at my digipack because it is all linked around the same colours and ideas and you can tell it all fits together.

Coldplay brand identity

For example i looked at coldplay's brand identity and how they try and link their album, cover and colours with the way they portray their album. for example with 'Mylo Xyloto' They not only use the album cover and the Cd itself to show the colour scheme that they are going to use but they also at their concerts to inforce the brand identity even further they had glow in the dark wrist bands which were the same illuminous colours as the ones on the album cover.

Brit pop and the 90's

In the 90's the genre of brit pop was one of the biggest music genres in the Uk at the time and some of the greatest

bands of all time were around for eaxmple Oasis, Blur, Coldplay, The verve and so on. All these iconic bands followed

similar styles and conventions, the genre itslef is defined by being focused on just being a band rather than solo artists

or anything and sticking to just having a singer, guitar, drum and bass.
