The Titanic was believed to be unsinkable because on page three, it said "...16 watertight compartments to contain flooding-would keep the ship afloat no matter what." This shows that they weren't prepared for what would happen very soon to the ship and people.

People believed that the Titanic's state of the art safety and 16 water weight compartments made the ship unsinkable.

The conclusion that we can draw from the article is that the 30% of the people like Jack, who lost a loved one, were lucky to survive. Jack also had enough guts to write books about the devastating event that he experienced.
