Some of the vocabulary associated with my subject is introduced in the PBO(s). I have other vocabulary words that connect to the standard(s) are posted on my vocabulary word wall. The students and I also annotate unfamiliar words (by use of context clues and 30/30/30) throughout the texts that are used in my class.

I find using a word wall to be the most effective strategy in teaching vocabulary. Most vocabulary words includes a written definition and model. I keep an up to date word-wall and refer back to it throughout out my lesson emphasizing words/definitions from the PBO.

Annotated throughout my learning targets. Tier 1 words blue(or underline once) and Tier 2 words red(or underline twice). Throughout my lesson. I refer back to the learning targets. Though the students give me positive feedback, I correct students if they are not using the academic vocabulary, so they can relate their answers to the academic vocabulary. The students will occasionally refer to the word wall and the picture helps as well.
